Another QB that the board is enthralled with that hasn’t done a thing. I got a chuckle out of the Colt McCoy fanboys last year. People gravitating toward Tune is even better. You've been around long enough to remember what a lot of posters were saying about John Skelton. "He just needs to be given a chance, he needs reps". LOL. No he didn't. He was crap wether he got one snap or 1000.

People wanting the kid to be a starter for no other reason than they don’t like K1. Sad really. Why start Tune to begin the season? If Tune is great let him sit to start the season and if Colt shows he is washed he will get his chance. I’m just looking for K1 to get back so we can get back to being a good team. There is no one else at the QB position on the team that has shown they can do what K1 does. Until then I will watch and hope the start of the season isn’t terrible.

McCoy has started a total of 36 games in his 13 year career. 21 of them for Cleveland between 2010(8) & 2011(13). He's a career back up guy. He's supposed to hold the band aid together for maybe 2-3 games while the star QB gets healthy from a minor injury.
McCoy is not a long term starting solution. Colt knows it. We all know it.
Tune, however, has started 47 games albeit in college in the last 4.5 years. Tune has taken more meaningful game snaps in his competitive circle than McCoy has over the last nine years as an NFL back up.
Just sayin'...

Reasonable and logical. McCoy will start, Tune and Blough will tag-team as McCoy's backups most likely during 4th quarters. Murray will be cleared to practice maybe by early October, do some 1st team reps to get his rhythm and sync with the offense, and maybe start again by mid Nov. When Murray does start, I will be shocked if the Cardinals have more than 2 wins. The 2023 schedule is going to test my patience. I'm being as optimistic as possible.

I'll add this key point to the debate: Clayton Tune improved every year he quarterbacked, either as backup or starter. Here's his production summary at the University of Houston (credit Wikipedia): In his first year at Houston in 2018, Tune appeared in five games and made two starts as a backup to D'Eriq King. Tune started the final two games of the year in place of an injured King. For the season, he completed 59 of 117 passes for 795 yards with eight touchdowns and two interceptions. Tune entered 2019 again as the backup to King but took over as the starter after King decided to sit out the rest of the season. He completed 106 of 179 passes for 1,533 yards, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Tune started all eight games in 2020, completing 170 of 285 passes for 2,048 yards, 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. In 2021, he started all 14 games and completed 287 of 421 passes for 3,546 yards with 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. How did Clayton Tune really perform in his final year at Houston? Check out this University of Houston webpage that summarizes the 12-2 season. After the season opening loss, Tune went 11-1 the rest of the way. Tune's Houston teammates capped off a great senior season with a bowl game win over Auburn, an SEC championship contender almost every year. This is the UofH 2021 football season results. Game summaries are imbedded. uhcougars.com/sports/football/schedule/2021

I am very interested in seeing Tune play his 2nd NFL game and hope he won't be as amped up as he was this past weekend. Of course his stat line would have looked much better had RM not slipped and the two (2) overthrows to Dortch. On the overthrows to 5'7" Dortch who was wide open, it appeared to me both balls sailed just a foot overhead of #83. My view of the problem was twofold: 1) Tune threw the ball about a half second too soon and so when Dortch looked back the ball was already over his helmet and 2) Tune threw a 12 yd throw in the air at 60 MPH rather than a much more catchable ball with reasonable speed.
Hopefully Tune (as he did in 2nd half) vs. the Chiefs will be quite a bit more calm and a little less nervous energy. Hopefully he just make his accurate throws with a little better timing to help the receiver track the ball and at speeds commensurate with the type of throw/pass pattern. Tune definitely has the arm talent to "stick" the throws between the hashes on slants and in-routes like the TD pass. I am excited to see how the McCoy vs. Tune "battle" shows up vs. the Chiefs who will not have their #1 defensive player.

Can he tone down the juice on the gimme plays? Maybe. Tune is going up against last year's SB winner on Saturday night. I expect a repeat of last week's 'amped-up' game. It's all learning and entertainment. No injuries!

I'd start tune over Colt who looks noodle armed, injury prone. He'll run with the ball and get speared likely. In comes Clayton Tune if Kyler Murray doesn't play week 1. I'm starting the young dual threat over Colt every time unless Kyler starts week 1.
