Colt McCoy was on the radio today and spoke about all three QBs behind him. He singled out Tune as “fantastic” whereas the other two guys were “good” and for Blount “had some experience last year”. Then he mentioned something interesting. It’s been great timing for Tune to be drafted, as with the completely new system and coaches, all the QBs in the QB room are learning it at the same time. He’s not competing with someone who has a few years in the system under his belt already. And he said because of this, lots and lots of questions are being asked in the QB meetings and out on the field that normally wouldn’t be asked, and that is excellent for a rookie QB to hear and experience. Here is the full Colt McCoy interview referred to above by DH - Colt McCoy Interview
BTW: In this interview Colt says Kyler "will be back sooner than later"

Video of Clayton Tune showing off his arm strength (the one pass down right sideline to James Conner was McCoy) including sticking the ball into WR on slants between a few defenders -- Clayton Tune - Brock Purdy 2.0 ??Video: There is huge difference in passing velocity and touch when comparing Tune and McCoy. Tune is working on his accuracy. McCoy showcases his experience. Both are backup QBs, IMV. I look forward to Tune's debut as a starter sometime this season. I think he's capable of managing any game. I also think he needs a full season of work to learn the pro game before he can win consistently. Tune might be the next Brady. He also might be the next Skelton. When the game starts, we'll find out who Tune is and is not.

I love the kid's intangibles and I just want the best guy out there that can help us win some ball games. Let's see how he does these preseason games, and if Gannon thinks he should get the nod against Washington, fine by me. And if he does a good job, then when Murray comes back, still let him stick with it;Murray shouldn't be guaranteed to be the man under center.

More than anything this year should be to find out if kyler Murray is indeed our quarterback of the future

Stroud v. Tune at first PS games? Hmmm? The rookies performed as expected. They will learn and improve at the months roll by.
Stroud will start a game before Tune starts a game in 2023. Tune might get some starts late in 2023. It all depends on Murray's rehab and return date.

I was naturally skeptical about the rave reviews about Tune in training camp. Been there heard it before about a lot of guys.
Was scrolling through twitter last night and found out the cardinals played. Apparently RW looked shaky and Tune sailed a bunch of easy throws , LOL.

Tune missed big time on some short out routes to #83 way overthrows

And the rest of the story…he settled down after halftime and had a solid quarter to finish the game and threw a laser on a post for a TD to end his night. With the terrible shaky first half he ended with about 55% completion rate. Chalk it up to first game jitters. Tune will be a decent QB…K1 has special tools that have not been given a solid platform in order to reach his potential. Cards are above average with their QB room. Give this staff some time and then write them off if you will. If Tune or the Cards with the new staff fail at least you can say you were on to them early. Broncos have real problems in their QB room.

Tune is the best healthy QB the Cardinals have today, IMO. He played like a rookie in his first NFL game. Rondale slipping on the crappy State Farm turf caused Tune's only INT. Loved Tune's ability to scramble and rush for positive yards when needed. Yes, a lot of clean up for the 5th round pick to work on but Tune's debut was better than:
CJ Stroud Anthony Richardson Bryce Young
These guys who were drafted in the 1st round this past Spring.

It is unfortunate that the Cardinals and Broncos won't play during the 2023 season. That's one team I'm sure Gannon & Co can beat. The Cardinals are ascending by 2024. The Broncos are descending pending a new QB.

But it would be a massive flop and would trigger the end of RW if Payton can't turn him around. I'm honestly not sure how that will go. Nothing would surprise me including a RW turnaround.

Another QB that the board is enthralled with that hasn’t done a thing.
I got a chuckle out of the Colt McCoy fanboys last year.
People gravitating toward Tune is even better.

Is Tune better than Blough?

Bough has what 4 years more NFL experience than Tune. And people expected the rookie to play better than McCoy and Blough? Seriously. For a Rookie QB Tune is doing Okay and is not a flop, so far.
Give the kid some breathing room before y'all dump on him.
McCoy, Tune/Bough or Blough/Tune will be the QB room starting the season. It could be much worse. But right now it ain't.
