...and that's just one of Parcells' criteria that Tune possesses. I seem to remember Bill frowned on short qbs too. I think accuracy was in there and game intelligence (knowing when to throw the ball away kind of stuff). I'm on board with starting Tune and leaving him in. Don't see any downside. Here is a snip-it on Bill’s requirements for a QB to draft: Be a three-year starter Be a senior in college Graduate from college Start 30 games Win 23 games Post a 2-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio Complete at least 60% of passes thrown While none of the criteria takes into account traits identifiable on film, the central theme behind Parcells’ rules is to narrow the field down to those who are accurate, make good decisions, are mentally tough, are part of a winning culture, and finish what they start. Let’s see how the 2022 crop of quarterbacks fits into Parcells’ criteria. To your point Cardcore. Unfortunately one part wasn’t in the Tuna’s equation: Parcells has a formula for selecting a quarterback in the NFL Draft. It is unlike anything you have ever seen before. It does not emphasize any of the points you have been trained to consider valuable. It says nothing about height, weight or speed. The formula does not consider arm strength, speed of release, or mechanics. The focus is quite different. These are from Draft Network and BarStool Touche. I remember height being important to some, but apparently Bill wasn't among them. A snippet from a different source, (old): athletic ability. Implicit within all of these points is the theory that NFL Teams evaluate quarterbacks as athletes first, and that is entirely wrong. NFL Teams need to acknowledge that they are selecting a mid-level manager when they select QBs.

If Tune has as long a career as Henne many would consider that a pick well spent.

Im all for Tune starting still. Hopefully he light the rest of camp and preseason up. Don’t need to see McCoy playing anymore.

Darren Urban with brand new article about possibility of Clayton Tune starting Game #1 - Clayton Tune - AZ Cardinal QB Starter ?
P.S. One of the reasons C. Tune is getting so many reps is that so far every 3rd day Colt McCoy doesn't throw. In fact, one practice he took snaps and moved around in the pocket then POINTED (not throw) to the WR who was his target - that was his rep. Curious that Monti didn't go after a backup QB in FA -- is this because CT showed up so well at OTA's/Mini-Camp and maybe KM1's rehab is going exceptionally well ? NOTE: If CT is starting the first few games of the season, the RB & LG need to be top targets of the waiver wire !! Monti seems to have upgraded the TE room with additions of Swain & Togiai. BTW - Trey McBride did an interview yesterday with 98.7 and says he should be back practicing next week that his injury was nothing major but coaches wanted to be extra careful with him.

Appreciate the update on McBride. Cardinals TEs historically are under-used, or busts. McBride might break the TE jinx since TE Wilson, #8.

Video of Clayton Tune showing off his arm strength (the one pass down right sideline to James Conner was McCoy) including sticking the ball into WR on slants between a few defenders -- Clayton Tune - Brock Purdy 2.0 ??

Colt McCoy was on the radio today and spoke about all three QBs behind him. He singled out Tune as “fantastic” whereas the other two guys were “good” and for Blount “had some experience last year”.
Then he mentioned something interesting. It’s been great timing for Tune to be drafted, as with the completely new system and coaches, all the QBs in the QB room are learning it at the same time. He’s not competing with someone who has a few years in the system under his belt already. And he said because of this, lots and lots of questions are being asked in the QB meetings and out on the field that normally wouldn’t be asked, and that is excellent for a rookie QB to hear and experience.

I made a statement early after Tune’s being drafted. A reference to Tune having a strong arm which was quickly jumped on with saying if he isn’t breaking hands or fingers of WRs then he doesn’t have a strong arm. Like many things any statement can be taken to extremes in its interpretation.
His time so far with the Cards is showing an ability to make difficult passes with great velocity and little arc on long distance throws. His real important stat is efficiency while being in distressing areas of play or high pressure moments if that portion holds true into the NFL his physical gifts are there, so his NFL future is bright.

QB Clayton Tune Press Conference 8/2/23 I heard a refreshing rookie comment: he studies the playbook! Golly.
