Zaz, let it go, man. Dang, what do you want Kirk to do - slit his wrists? Live in shame for the rest of his life? Should we tar and feather him? Should we boo him at U of P and wish that he drops balls? It's over unless he slips up again so let's move on. If he just said" Im sorry, it was and wrong. Ill be a better person" then all of this would be a non-story. Crappy thing to do, but forgivable as long as the person is sorry. Kirk isnt sorry. Im bothered that after the charge dismissal he released a statement saying "Justice! Ive been proven innocent!". No dude. You paid the damages. And he made no mention of that. He paid the fine but he didnt take responsibility for the behavior. Youre a religious person from that tag. So you know who St. Dismas was. He was the thief crucified next to Jesus. Dismas repented before he died, and thats where we get the Christian notion of penance and forgiveness. Kirk is pretending he did no wrong. In terms of what do I want? Nothing. These are my feelings about the subject. I dont actually expect anything to happen now. Actually, I didn't know that the thief on the cross next to Jesus is referred to as St. Dismas. Luke never wrote down a name and I'm not Catholic. I'd also say I'm not religious because the term is so nebulous and religion is tainted by man, although I understand your inference. Jesus the Christ is my Lord and Savior and I'm just a sinner, saved by grace. The 'church' I identify with is the body of believers, not an organization, name, or sect. As far as Kirk goes, I don't think he owes me or the public an apology. That's between him and God. And the victims. And while he may or may not have offered a personal apology to the victim(s), apparently the victims are satisfied because restitution was made and no charges were filed. So I, for one, am leaving this issue in the past and hope this young man can grow in maturity and bring many touchdowns to the Cards offense for years to come. |
