I think this post is irrelevant by now. But what the heck. Don't forget that the CAP will be reduced in 2021. Teams may trade for an 8-week wonderboy to playout 2020 and deliver for the playoff run. But no team will tie up millions of guaranteed dollars on a player contract for several years, not for a player that might not be playing nor affordable by next March 1st (start of 2021 NFL year) nor by next September. The FA season starting next spring is going to be very interesting. This makes a lot of sense. The post-Covid NFL will see serious playoff contenders out of teams who are able to draft well and win with players still on the rookie contracts, and teams who can convince good players to play cheap. Get ready to see a very, very deep Free Agency this next year as there will be a boat-load of cap casualties. The smart guys will sign early, for discounts to just have a job. The biggest ego's will sit out, then wonder why no one is interested in their $100M price tag. Yep, a boat-load of CAP casualties are coming. Good GMs will be ready.

For that reason I see it's even more important to get as deep as possible in the playoffs since those discounted players will want to play for a contender. Imagine the Cardinals coming out of the NFCW as champions and at least making the NFC championship game. Being a top 4 team will mean momentum going into next year.

New England is officially OPEN to trading Stephon Gilmore- wants a 1st Rounder and a player. Look, we don't know what Pat P is gonna do..he's playing out his contract. Depending on what happens with him, we will likely need to draft a top end CB anyway, which is not a proven commodity. If things go as I suspect, we won't have a necessarily high draft pick anyway. We have a shot this year to do something special.... I want Steve Keim to pull the trigger, get New England on the phone and get this DONE!! Let's lock down our Peterson, Gilmore, Murphy Jr., & Baker!! Exactly what I said before, ship Isabella as the player. He is the small type of wr that BB loves. Except that he is a terrible route runner. BB can't handle that from any receiver.

Its kinda be a yard sale next year. **looks over the Saints roster... "I'll give you two bucks for this"

The problem is that the Cardinals made their move with Markus Golden for a 6th rd pick.
We already owe The Houston a 4th round draft pick in 2021
So with a 4th and a 6th gone. A cap that will be much lower in 2021.
Teams have to keep draft choices on the roster to stay under the salary cap.

One more thing. Wasn't the NFLPA petitioning HQ NFL to delay the CAP reduction in 2021, or spread the pain into future years at least? I believe that idea was being shopped around a few months ago. Intent is to stabilize players incomes. I have no idea where the NFLPA is with that proposal.

Keim has been very good at signing these types of contracts. A few blemishes on the GM's resume are, and they're due to season or career ending injuries, are Evan Mathis, Robert Alford, Ted Ginn Jr. Otherwise, this is Keim's strong suit as a talent evaluator.
