Makes me kinda nervous when a coach constantly adds players from his old team, hopefully it works out.

I think it is the tendency to stick with the devils you do know rather than the ones you don't. With Wilks having little direct experience with our vets to go on, I can understand that. Yeah, there is film but personal observation wins that duel. Over time it should abate somewhat, but if we got a new coach the same thing would be likely to ensue.
Other thoughts: those on the PS now may not stay there. Some could be dropped if we pick up more off the league scrap heap, and some could be claimed by other teams - like Penny or Kanoff. I'm still boiling about McCrane not even being put on the PS while it looks like Phil has roots. Building for the future? Not with kickers...

www.azcardinals.com/news/cardinals-undergo-roster-changes-build-practice-squadRef link. Comment about the O & D additions on Sunday .... IMV, the 2 x O linemen are slight upgrades and mostly intended to help Sam Bradford and Josh Rosen survive all 16 games .... SK's lessons learned in 2017 was that interior lineman get dinged all the time and having a couple more wide-body plug-and-play lineman = valuable QB insurance policies. I don't know what to say about Zach Moore, the pickup from Carolina. He's big and healthy, but bounced around the League since being drafted in the 6th round by New England several years ago. Carolina is deep at DE in 2018. Moore was odd man out as #4. Maybe the team was hoping to keep him for their Practice Squad. I trust that Wilks saw something in Moore that he preferred at ARI now.

Better than throwing good money after bad so to speak and keeping him around when he can't hack it. If GM Hic Hic hits on a couple of FAs who can play it's a wash. Im going in circles with this. Either im failing to adequately explain. Or everybody else is failing to understand the concept. This has nothing to do with football. Or sports. This is a very general principle that points to extreme incompetence. You spend an immense about of resources and coming to a decision (regarding any topic) And ultimately that decision is proven wrong 5 minutes after you make it. Logically, that means your entire decision making process what extremely flawed. Thats my point. No you didn't need to explain. I get it. I will say the process of OTAs, training camp, etc. sure seemed to last a lot longer than five minutes.

The problem is JJ is the only super fast downfield receiver with the 4.3 type blaze. Until they find another, I keep him. He's a good player if he can avoid the drops that have plagued him. Yes I've always enjoyed watching guys run really fast to get to a point where they can drop the ball or have the ball tipped away by a tall, 5'9" DB.

Makes me kinda nervous when a coach constantly adds players from his old team, hopefully it works out. Happens all the time, it's guys they've seen before and they have a good feel for strengths / weaknesses / fit. I'm fine with it, as long as the cord is cut if the guy can't play.

So our practice squad is now set. Only guy I kinda am disappointed that didn't make it is AJ Howard. I thought he played well. He made the initial 53-man roster and now he's gone. Would have liked to hold onto him instead of replacing him with yet another Panthers guy, but alas, it's just a practice squad. No other major complaints from me.

Why boil? And I'm For giving McCrane a shot by the way.
Because we had a chance to acquire a kicker (cheaply) with promise to carry on for years, but instead kept a more expensive (near term) old and on the decline version who will surely have to be replaced sooner rather than later. NOT a way to build for the future, IMO. We were assured by Wilks that the best man would win each position. It is very apparent he does not have the last word, and that SK does and that he makes regular odd/obscure decisions. Now McCrane is gone and there is no ace in the hole on the PS.
I have stated that I support old guys, all things being equal, and that I was initially opposed to McCrane as being too small, too light, too everything. But he proved me wrong and showed that he has what it takes. We all saw it, and we all saw Phil last year -- mostly OK, some real stinko and his excuses. Some games come down to a field goal, so I'll take accuracy over a 43 year old leg that used to be good.
Boil? Semantics. Upset, irritated, galled, disappointed, dismayed, P.O.ed, etc. if you prefer. And at the decision logic, if any, not Phil personally.

Who's our kicker? Who's on first, if I remember Abbot and Costello correctly. Oh, you mean place kicker?

We need to bring in Maclin or Dez. Our WR isn't cutting it right now, and I don't care how much of a headcase Dez has been...he might actually have to be respected by the defense. Right now we do not have a #2 WR, and we have a bunch of guys that may or may not turn into #3's.
Bring in Dez on a one year deal. If he refuses than Maclin on a one year deal
