Nick Mangold on line one...is the “You don’t really want to retire” speech ready?

What was the point in drafting Mason Cole if you are going to be on the phone to Boone or Mangold?
Crazy thought, Mason Cole who has played at one of the biggest college football programs, in a pro style system, with a HC who is jim harbaugh, might just be good enough to replace what was a below average centre.

Call to Brian Schwenke, Center (Titans) who is age 27 -- wonder if Alex Boone ever played center as he is available and knows his fellow lineman.
P.S. Piece of good news -- Coach Wilks on 98.7 just singled out Nkemdiche as someone who has put together a string of very good practices and his play is much more consistent. He also pointed out the defense speed including "# 90" is really doing a great job of penetrating the gaps.
I didn't really notice ol' Robert in the red & white scrimmage, but then it seemed that the OL did a good job all around. Very little pressure unless it came on a blitz off the edge. Maybe the OL is good, and Robert has improved. That would be great...if Cole can get the job done. Would love to see today's practice.

Q never got the appreciation he deserved with fans. I know our OL has been garbage for a long time, but Q wasnt the cause. He was arguably the best OLineman we had.
Looking forward, its Mason Coles time to shine. FYI, he played LT for michigan for 3 years. Thats a long time vs division 1 opponents. Ohio State. etc. So he has the tools to be a good Center.

Played pro style offense for Harbaugh too... He's the future so let him play and shop for a back up. I dont know whats up with Bohem.

Theres no shame in that. He can go have a long career as a high school football coach. His issue is he isnt strong enough. Its not a weight room thing either. He can bench 700 pounds like Larry Allen. Strength is fundamentally a talent. Like speed. You have it or you dont. Boehm cant stop D-lineman. They ragdoll him.

There's no looking back. Thank you A.Q.
Let the young couple rosen and Cole get acquainted. Hopefully it's a long healthy marriage.

If they are on the phone looking for a veteran center, then you know they dont trust their current rookie center.

I'm curious how many rookie centers have performed in the NFL at a high level (or even adequately). Looking at the history of just a few centers I see at least a couple years of sporadic starting before taking over full time. I would feel better if there were some notable precedents... are there any?

I recall the pokes got gigged for drafting him in the 1st rd that year. But he's been a solid anchor for their O-line. Who's to say Cole can't do the same under Ray Brown's tutelage.

H alf the old board wanted AQ sent off the field last year. Some wishes do come true.

H alf the old board wanted AQ sent off the field last year. Some wishes do come true. And some wishes are just plain bad too. Iirc in 2016 AQ was listed by PFF as the 15th best center. With current posters saying AQ couldn't even make the top 15. Yet as you say the old board had many AQ detractors. There are still some here as well. I have not seen where AQ was ranked last year. Cardinals center A.Q. Shipley, who is out for the season with a torn ACL, missed four offensive snaps in the last two seasons, playing 2,141 of the Cardinals' 2,145 (99.8 percent) offensive plays. Player Snaps A.Q. Shipley, ARI 2,141 Joe Thuney, NE 2,116 Jason Kelce, PHI 2013
