Five weeks for some other guys around the office to step up and show what they can do while the boss dries out.

Can Steve Wilks carry the load? And if yes, why does Mike Bidwill need Steve Keim? Some very big team decisions have to be made by the end of August.

I think MB expects a higher standard from his employees and even though he is a friend of SK's he will demand action on SK's part if he is gonna remain in charge of this team. I hope SK realizes this was a wake up call and I think he needs to respond in a positive way.

First. You don't know if Wilks is even going to make a good head coach. Big difference between being a coordinator and a head coach. Saw a lot of coordinators fail at being a head coach.
Second. Just because a guy is a good or great head coach doesn't guarantee he will be an effective GM.
SK even for his faults and mistake has turned out to be a decent GM. I'd say if the Cards were to let him go, it wouldn't be very long before he had another gig.

I don't think it ever comes to the cardinals moving on from him. I do think that MB will demand SK to take action and making sure nothing like this ever happens again.

That's kind of the litmus test here isn't it? Whether or not he could catch on with another team if Bidwill fired him. Would it be a good thing to have him on another team working against you? I think he would as his body of work to date has been better than average. Lot's of people want to compare SK's DUI to Michael Floyd's but one of the key differentials is that Floyd played like a donkey in his contract year which made it obvious his drinking may have been affecting his performance. Easier to part company with someone like that then someone that is doing their job at an above average level.

SK checked into jail this morning for a few days, followed by a week confined at home. Great look for one of the top two guys in the Cardinals organization.

The punishment is fair and more than what the players get

The punishment is fair and more than what the players get Keim recently fired Floyd for extreme DUI after a prior DUI, the difference being he didn’t fess up to them right away. But for me, he wasn’t honest with the police (2 beers) and he has to be held to a higher standard than the players. I think he’s a very good GM, but credibility in leadership is a must. I’d like to see Wilks take these lemons and make some lemonade, by setting down the expectations of his regime. He seems like a no nonsense guy.

Keim hires Wilks to turn things around, puts a lot on his plate and then turns around and pulls this stunt. What a bunghole.

I guarantee you that Fitz isn't getting cut if he was the one arrested instead of Floyd. Floyd also had issues besides the DUI. 2 beers is the standard answer police officers get and by that alone it raises suspension among them.

(nice pun?). He's embarrassed. As I'm sure his family is. Life lesson. He is going through the process. We will see where he ends up at the end. The most important part is Recovery! People can say what they want, but any type of addiction is not good. Balance in all things should be the goal. I hope that SK and his family are allowed to find that balance. He is doing what is mandatory, coming out the other end a better person or not is his choice. It’s time to watch (from a distance) and give the guy the time and space needed to figure it out.
