Dogbe on the PS as of this morning. Making the PS roster with 16 players. So 53 active and 16 PS players on Cards team. So, all set and ready to GO! Re: the PS: The new Punter apart, the maximum age of the other fifteen players is 26 years. - It is evident that the PS is now being used for its correct purpose (as a vehicle to bring on talented younger players). A fair few (it is hoped) will progress sufficiently to become solid roster players if not starters in the years ahead. - There are no passengers amongst them and I hold little doubt that the FO has utmost faith in each and every one.

I did not considered the flexibility that the GM has with a spare protected PS roster spot. Let's say some GM starts sniffing around the Cardinals PS roster and tells the player he's fallen in love. Now, Keim can quickly inform the NFL that the Arizona player is 'protected,' thus thwarting the pending elopement. Good for Steve Keim now being the GM we always wanted him to be.

When it comes to Zane, I have never been his biggest fan, but on the other hand, I didn't hate him. Hell I still think he has potential, but the truth is, he is still an unknown.
The fact he missed two very long kicks does not bother me much. If he starts missing relatively short kicks, then I will be bothered.
I would be very cautious about replacing him. All the sure fire kickers have jobs. Unless he starts failing miserably, now is not the right time to make a change.
Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with looking at others but even if they look good in practice, the only way you can really know is in real games.

There's a ton of good safety talent out there, why those guys?

I'll never grow loyalty in a kicker again..when them guys flip they flip..a different breed Sure give Zane a few more chances..but if he fails..have someone waiting

It's Way Too early to start the fretting over Gonzalez. He went thru a similar period early last year and ended up doing well afterwards. 1 Game with a 52 and 49 yd attempt missing, but a 56 yd attempt made is Not a reason for alarm. It only becomes an alarm if it repeats every game. Imo I don't think it will. He's a decent FG kicker and he's young and relatively cheap. Who knows he may become another Jim Bakken as the years unfold.

IIRC they all had the distance but not the accuracy. Also in an away stadium with the crowd noise it is usually hard to make it anyways. O wait crowds aren't allowed but they still piped in the crowd noise. Not sure if this played a factor or not. I hope we have an experienced sound person that knows when to pipe in the crowd noise and when not too during our 2 home games without fans.

Alex Light lasted maybe 24 hours before Dallas plucked him for active roster.
Chris Jones was snatched up by Lions.
I would think Jones would have been protected again. Darren Urban, the Cards reporter, informed me that there is a 24 hour window when any practice squad player can be signed. I was unaware of that but looks like it just happened to us. I will have to read up on that some more, weird rule.

Nugent is a long shot, and hasn't played a full season since 2015. I'd put Simmons at SS, what I feel is his natural position and where he would have the most success. And not just a little, I think he would go onto superstar status.

Do you think that's a likely outcome cardstj22? Considering that Reddick had major problem adapting to ILB (admittingly it was not his natural position) then I am thinking that at ILB it may be a difficult task transitioning from college to the NFL. - What we must avoid is shifting Simmons from one position to another and then back again.

We've signed Safety Curtis Riley off the Steelers practice squad. Presumably Foster is going back to our practice squad.
