DJ can do anything he wants in life. He has his health, a good head on his shoulders, charisma and a couple of million dollars in earnings in his 20's. To think that Football is his only option is insane. If he walked away today and invested in his future he is likely to make more money, live longer and with less pain than if he played football. Of course if he actually gets a new contract or becomes one of the few to make it to FA or gets tagged he might well do better playing football? He has an amazing amount of great options the question the Cardinals have to ask themselves, is does he actually know that? You really think DJ can get anything close to what he potentially can/will make in football somewhere else? Good luck with that. He has no real options other then to play if he wants millions more. Football is a risky game. He can be hurt in the first snap at training camp and never play again. all football players know that. This "holdout" is merely a ploy at the moment. A real holdout will occur if he's not on the field opening day. The cards will call his bluff and DJ will be back playing. With a new contract? Highly unlikely but if it benefits both parties it can be done. Dj would have to give the cards more years and the cards DJ more money.Give and take. But truthfully with the position DJ plays I would just ride it out with him. Running backs have short shelf lives.

He's obviously not getting the deal he thought he could get hence the delay. He needs to be in training camp to be effective considering all the newness surrounding our offense.

But truthfully with the position DJ plays I would just ride it out with him. Running backs have short shelf lives. You know how many people don't play pro sports who make good salaries, have great health insurance and pensions and save and invest millions and live long good lives. Half the guys in Cardinal stadium who actually have season tickets will make more, invest more, save more and live longer than most of the football players in the NFL. Take a walk through some of the great neighborhoods in Scottsdale. There are millions of people who make millions of dollars during their lifetimes. DJ along with almost anyone with a good education and a few bucks in the bank can fall or succeed with or without playing pro-sports. Most NFL players don't do all that well. Most of them don't make it out of their first contract. Many of them are flat broke and in pain every day. There is also substantial risk to major injury including head trauma. DJ isn't some kid out of the hood with a crappy family and no options. He has a few bucks in the bank and his health. He can do whatever he wants in life. No real options. You gotta be kidding me with that crap. He's ahead of most people right now. His health is way more important than a couple of million bucks in terms of his future earnings and more importantly his happiness. Of course it's a ploy but the reality is he is better off out of the game than risking his health for his current contract.

I cant find a list but its clear that SportStars is the #2 agency out there. They have aloooot of clients. The #1 agency is CAA. I didnt realize they were in sports too. But apparently CAA is the #1 agency for anything on earth. They represent all the biggest actors and musicians too. In other words, DJ is in good hands. His agency is very powerful and well equipped to negotiate for him. Something interesting I just realized...it wouldnt suprise me if DJ had some small time agency when he was drafted, and after his monster 2016, all the big agencies came calling.

Does anybody have an idea what an agent gets paid from their clients? A flat fee or percent of a contract deal when one gets done? Curious of what kinda dough these guys make off players.

It looks like DJ got the deal done. He posted a clip of himself in the locker room with his helmet on with the caption saying "In god's hands now. Primed and ready to prove it! #imback" about an hour ago on IG and FB.

He was always going to play. No player whos holdout for a new deal ever holds into the season.
Leveon Bell has been fighting the Steelers for 3 years... he shows up for camp. Aaron Donald has been fighting for 2 years, he shows up for camp.
So there was never any concern. DJ is playing ,deal or not.

I Agree with you zaz.. he was going to show up for camp. $40,000.00 a day if he didn’t. He is taking a chance on a career ending injury. But so does every other player in the league. Hopefully he gets lucky and stays healthy.
