ktar.com/story/2133602/arizona-cardinals-gm-steve-keim-cited-for-dui-on-july-4/This is the worst news this organization has had since Kurt Warner's retirement. You can't have a GM who has a DUI because you won't be able to keep players accountable (see Michael Floyd) without looking like a hypocritical organization. For those who don't want SK as our GM, you may get your wish earlier than expected. This is just sad.

Beyond dumb.
In today’s age of Uber and Lyft I just don’t get this.

You have to be consistent on these things.

The procedure is already started. Now we the fans will wait to see the aftermath of this action. Sad day for all involved and especially for SK.

Well this ain’t good. 4 week suspension? Who’s his backup? Really a decision!! I’m thinking that he will somehow fight the DUI ticket. He has not been convicted, unless he has already pled guilty/no contest at his arraignment hearing. Which is possible, foolish but possible.

Terrible, terrible, terrible. Players have to be held to a very high standard. Leadership even higher. We need everyone focused on camp and learning new systems. Integrating new coaches and players and most importantly a new Cardinals persona under a new staff. Keim needs to be focused on churning the roster as cuts occur.
Terrible.

As dumb as this is I don’t think he should be fired unless there is more to it than we know. If it’s a first time thing then give him a very stiff suspension from team duties without pay.

Absolutely firable. Not only is DUI extremely egregious, but he just destroyed his authority with players. How is Keim ever suppose to suspend or discipline a player now? Executives must be held to higher standard than players for that reason.
I say it be determined this way:
If he was just a little buzzed - suspended
If he was Michael Floyd drunk off his rocker - fired and jailed
Thats fair.

Unlike Michael Floyd, this was a first offense (that we know of). He might get away with a 6 week suspension and hopefully that will be the end of it. That said, he is a top executive in the NFL. Think of the head coach position, there are only 32 of them in the league and one of the most prestigious jobs in the world. How would you react if you heard BA got a DUI last July 4th? I'll tell you how I would react: "You worked all your life to reach the highest spot your career path can offer, why would you jeopardize it by driving drunk on the worst day of the year to be drunk?" The same applies to GMs. It says a lot about that man's character and judgement, and you have to consider if his judgement has affected his professional decisions in the past.
I like Keim, I really do. I think he is a top-15 GM when it comes to his overall success in finding players that help this team. Since this is a first offense, just severely suspend him and let Terry McDonough take over in the interim.
I remember from the discussion about Floyd back on the old forum someone said that if you are 'unlucky' to be caught driving drunk once, you probably have done it numerous times before.

Hopefully the facts will come out. Who knows it may have been something other than alcohol. I agree the team needs to punish SK. But let’s see what the facts are first. Go cards!

When lamenting the lack of football news to discuss, it did not occur to me that a high level management member would be cited for DUI. Some random thoughts:
Attaboy, Steve. You brought all of us down to earth with a thud... and there goes most, if not all the respect you have built up over time.
Will SK's ability to do his job at some critical time be affected? Mostly a matter of league action rather than something done by MB? We have to be patient, but that's not easy. I'm guessing there will be a suspension for some period - and that MB will appoint an interim acting GM - or take over himself.
Let's hope the league does not drag out the process. Attention Roger: get it done quickly and firmly, like a good commissioner would!
Mike B must be fuming, and who could blame him? Trust and confidence in someone gone down the tubes... not to mention image of the team and organization.
Ugh.

We need to hear the facts, but it’s terrible regardless. As Zaz mentioned above, if it’s a first time, slightly buzzed from a few beers at a 4th of July BBQ pulled over at a checkpoint, take responsibility and take the punishment. If it’s a repeat offense or a Floyd type situation, he’d have no more credibility.

SK won't recover from this mistake for a long time.
Say goodbye to any leadership roles for him for this year.
Every team failure also could now point back to the GM's character and judgment ability.
MB has no choice but to fine SK for exceedingly poor judgment this past week.
Lastly, IMV this thread should be moved Team History soon.

Checkpoints are very effective at catching all kinds of driver and vehicle problems. Everybody know that! Everybody!!!!
