Monti didn't offer more than this for Uche ? I believe Monti holds onto his draft picks harder than a limpet to a rock. - I don't think he's giving up any capital for what is effectively a half season rental. |

Another name to add at the edge is Bengals Trey Hendrickson who turns 30 (under contract for 2025 at about $19M cap hit) in about 6 weeks. I understand Azeez Ojulari had another 2 sacks last night so in a contract year he is really playing well. Need SOMEONE as our edge players of Zaven/Xavier Thomas/Luketa/Dimukeje/Okwara has a total of ONE SACK !!! Because Ojulari could be just a rental the Giants asking price can't be that much as they already have Burns/Thibodeau for the future so they must get something for him. Then there are former high draft picks which haven't worked out for bad organizations who will be looking for draft picks in order to secure a QB in the 2025 draft - - Evan Neal - Guard Alabama (7th pick in entire 2022 draft)
- Jaycee Horn CB Panthers (entering his 5th yr option decision for the Panthers and has had injury issues until this year. PF is 71 for a BAD Panthers team who lost Derrick Brown early in the season so they don't get much QB pressure. Worth a call to offer a 3rd rounder and see what happens... they need draft capital to move up and get a QB. He is only age 23.
- Greg Newsome CB Browns (entering his 5th yr option which won't be picked up as his PFF this year is around 50 but has been better in the past) - won't cost much.
- EDGE Payton Turner - Saints (again entering his 5th yr option and PFF is a respectable 65) - 4th rounder ?
- CB Tyson Campbell - Jags (he will be a FA in 2025) and has been consistently solid - Jags haven't extended him yet so they are likely to lose him. 3rd day pick ?
- DT Davon Godchaux - Pats (rumors 49ers are trying to acquire - why not Cards?) - Pats DT on the Move in Trade ?
Of Course you could go crazy and inquire on Sauce Gardner or Micah Parsons.

If the Giants liked him as an ILB and they already have 2 good edge guys for 2025, then a package of ZC plus 2025 conditional (that Azeez signs with Cards before 2025 draft) 5th rounder for Azeez Ojulari/Evan Neal and a 2026 6th rounder work ? Remember both Cards' guards are up for free agency and one of them will be coming off knee surgery so a guard. Also the $$ expended for ZC allows Monti to offer Azeez a decent contract. Panthers had Luke Kuechly and value LB's -- if Monti can get Azeez on a different deal, then a ZC plus a 5th rounder for CB Jaycee Horn ? Here is the thing about Collins. He’s not getting the job done as a pass rusher at OLB. And you want your OLB to get pressures and sacks, right? He is currently ranked 141/191 out of all active edge defenders with a bad 53.9 PFF pass rush grade. However, you also want your guys who can seal the edge and provide run defense. Well, Collins happens to be #5/191 edge defenders at run defense with a sky high 87.8 run defense PFF grade. He’s also #5 at his position in tackles. He’s actually similar to Budda in this way. Budda can’t cover but piles up tackles. You take the good with the bad. We are not good at stopping the run, and it’s one of our bigger defensive weaknesses. Do we really want to lose our best run defender? |

However, you also want your guys who can seal the edge and provide run defense. Well, Collins happens to be #5/191 edge defenders at run defense with a sky high 87.8 run defense PFF grade. He’s also #5 at his position in tackles. He’s actually similar to Budda in this way. Budda can’t cover but piles up tackles. You take the good with the bad. It's up to the coaches to plan and put individual players in roles that optimize their strengths/ minimize weaknesses. Zaven Collins never was and I doubt will ever be a premier Edge rusher, but with the current lack of drive up through the middle, then it will be heavy going for any player lining up on our outside. Should the FO value Collins for who he is/ what he can do, then he will have a big contribution to make in the future. He was recently awarded a substantial contract extension; hence the omens would appear good for him. |

These trade deadline moves show how little teams value their own players if they want to move on from them -- Uche for a 2026 6th rounder and now WR Dontae Johnson goes from the Panthers to the Ravens. Ravens send a 5th rounder (probably around #26 or so) to the Panthers who send D. Johnson AND a SIXTH ROUNDER !!! (this will probably be a top 3 pick in the sixth round.
Summary - Ravens just acquired a good WR for about 8-9 spots in the 3rd day of the 2025 draft .. PEANUTS.
C'MON Monti offer some ridiculous pick swap 3rd day deal to get a couple of guys I listed above.

I saw an article yesterday that said Panthers admitted some teams are calling about Jaycee Horn. The Panthers just made a ridiculously low value (for them) trade with the Ravens. Jaycee Horn is only age 23 (remember due to the extra year college players got in eligibility due to Covid) yet the Cardinals draft pick in 2023 for Elijah Jones will be age 25 already in 2 1/2 mos.
Panthers are desperate for picks to be able to move up and draft another QB next April. I am hoping Monti is calling the Panthers to see what asking price is for Jaycee Horn. Wonder if the Panthers are dumb enough to take a 2025 4th rounder & 2026 6th rounder ?
Anyway - I hope Monti is trying to get both Jaycee Horn and Azeez Ojulari (you can throw in Evan Neal of the Giants as well) because if he could get 2 of these 3 and still have all of his Day 1 and Day 2 picks ... grand slam homerun.
The defense would be adding DRob, Horn and Azeez which would certainly upgrade the defense significantly and if RT Jonah Williams will soon come back to help the offense ... the Cards could actually win 7 or more of their last 9 games.
REMEMBER fans -- in Detroit's rebuild, they first only one 4 games then the next year I believe they won 9 before playing in the NFC championship game in 2023 which was their 3rd year of the rebuild. Robbing other desperate draft pick seeking franchises to build up your own roster is part of the process.
