Today’s CBS mock draft has the Vikings trading up to #3 for Maye, then the Broncos trading up to #4 for McCarthy. San Diego picks Alt at #5 and Harrison Jr goes to Giants #6. We then trade back up to #8 and end up with Nabers, an extra 3rd, and an extra Denver 1st in 2025. Odunze, who would be my pick by a hair over Nabers, goes #9.
PFF put out grades for each draft class. WR gets the rare A+
“ RECEIVERS: A+
This is an elite receiver class, even set in the context of a lot of recent very strong draft classes.
The “Big-Three” of Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze would each be the top receiver in most draft classes while the next wave is absurdly deep. There are 23 wideouts or tight ends in the consensus top 100 players, meaning almost a quarter of the best 100 players in this draft are pass catchers.
The depth doesn’t drop off after those early rounds and you can be deep into this group and still come away with receivers that can make an immediate NFL impact.”
I’m pretty confident, since we signed our tackle in free agency, we will be aiming for one of these top three WR’s even if by a trade down and then a later trade up, like how we landed Paris. Then I think we draft at least one more.
The tackle class gets an A grade as well, and I wouldn’t be surprised at a developmental tackle at some point, just not in the first round any more as it’s not a need.
Cornerback also gets an A grade, not so much for the first round but because there are 15 consensus corners in the top 100 big board. This is really good for us, as we have at least six top 100 picks.
We have needs at positions that are not deep in this draft, like interior Oline (C+), interior defense (B), edge (B-) and LB (C+), but there are some good ones earlier in the mid 1st to 3rd, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we grab IDL, Edge and left guard with three of our top 90 picks.
