I remember watching a college game of Mahomes were he made a played awfully similar to the left handed throw he made last night. He just has that special IT that you look for in a PROSPECT. He doesn't just show it on the field, he shows it on the sideline too. I'm not sure if I can describe it, but when the cameras showed him on the bench you can tell he's completely in the game. He's talking to coaches, excited about a play, and dissecting errors. Right after the game winning TD drive last night, I saw Andy sitting with him and they were in a DEEP discussion and Andy was furiously writing notes while Patrick was talking. I'm pretty sure he was asking him what worked on that drive and what didn't. Mahomes was lasered in details. Guys, this type of stuff just DOESN'T HAPPEN often. Mahomes is focused on success and Andy isn't squandering the moment. We could see something very special here. (BTW, this completely contrasts what I saw from Cam Newton on the sidelines in his first few years. He was often self absorbed and immature.) I remember watching Rosen as a Freshmen. I turned to one of my buddies and said I haven't seen a Freshman like that since Luck. Rosen is special in a WHOLE different way than Mahomes. And make no bones about it, Rosen has the IT too. You can see it in his calm demeanor in the huddle and pocket, through his Aaron Rodgers-like grin after a big play, and through his absolutely PERFECT ball he spins on every throw. That is one confident and talented dude. However, I still have the exact same reservations about Josh now that I did before the draft: concussions and attitude. Let me explain the latter since the former is obvious. Josh has an "above the game" or laissez faire attitude at times that rubs me the wrong way. For example, there was the time when he threw the pick against Chicago and turned to the sideline and shrugged his shoulders. It's not the hugest thing in the world, but I kinda want a more frustrated reaction than that. Manning would have been furious with himself or the WR. Favre would have had his hands on his helmet in disgust. Rodgers would have been bent over at the waist ready to throw up. I realize that Josh is really young, but some things are just instinctual/genetic. Maybe it's nothing, but it's the same vibe I got off him at UCLA. Love the prospect. Still terrified he's got too much Jay Cutler in him. Can't wait for him to prove me wrong. I can agree with most all of this but for the attitude. I'm glad he didn't get emotional and bent out of shape. Controlling your emotions in a game is paramount for a QB. What I saw this Sunday reminded me of Peyton as a Rookie. The demeanor, the I want to know why, the controlled emotions. The level headedness to evaluate and process your own actions and not getting all bent because you made a mistake or your team mate did. I don't see this as immaturity at all. In fact I see the opposite, the young man has maturity and drive. Hotheads as QB's burn out fast. As for Mahommes the topic of this thread, He is exceptional right now. And I will be watching more KC games when they don't conflict with Card's games.

I also love that Josh is controlled. He never appears emotionally off balance or hotheaded. But I don't think he should be void of negative emotion either. I'd like him to be just frustrated enough to go fix it, and not emotional enough to lose it. I see an excellent level of maturity in him as well. I could be splitting hairs here, or I could be seeing a glimpse of his future. I'm truly not sure. I just want to make sure that I keep an open mind about every player and thought I should at least point out some of the negatives over the litany of positives I saw in him. Trying my best to provide some balance to the forum. (Especially since so many people are currently building altars to Josh, while sharpening a guillotine for Wilks/Keim. It's a tad early for either) Oh, yeah, BTW, I'm beyond stoked about our QBoF. I've NEVER felt this way before. How many years have we been pining for this? (About as long as I've been pining for a C for the Suns).

Top 10 pick has a real chance of happening though. Especially if the growing pains of this new staff don't come under control. I actually expect Josh and the O to save McCoy's bacon this season. And it will be In Spite of McCoy not because of McCoy.

Rosen places the ball in the wrong places. He will get the WR's killed. I hope he corrects his ways. He needs to learn how to read defenses. He will be throwing a lot of interceptions too. He will have to get use to the NFL game. We will see High's and low's with this kid. It will take him 2 to 3 years before he gets consistent. He justs needs to do the work. And have an offense that is geared to his game. Needs an OC that know's how he plays. Pat Mahomes will be special. I believe he is really advanced for his skill level. You're name "birdbrain" is very appropriate for the post your wrote. Exactly... Rosen placed the ball where it needed to be on 95% of his throws... idk what game he watched.

There is not much to disagree with here. When it comes to attitude, I think you could make a decent argument either way as to if it's benificial or not. It's the concussion thing that gives me the most nightmares. I hope and pray that concussions never enter the equation as far as his success goes. kids got to learn to slide and throw it away.
