Everyone do yourself a favor and watch the press briefing of our new rookie Chase Edmunds on the main site.
I knew nothing of this kid, and didn’t think RB was a need to be addressed. What I read about him impressed me. Watching this kid speak, his football intelligence, his mindset and his drive plus humility has me pumped to have him in Cardinal red. I expect him to be a weapon and a fan favorite. A healthy DJ and TJ plus this kid with 2 back sets could be pretty exciting.

I did not yet watch his interview. Prior to the draft, the Steelers looked closely at Chase Edmunds and also noted his RB skills. He got A+ grades for athleticism, but they dinged him for not always playing smart football. Smartness can be coached up if he accepts positive criticism and adjusts old instincts.

I like the person, cant comment on the player yet.
I do have some trepidation that Edmonds presence is going to steal touches from TJ Logan, who I havent forgotten. Briefly as we saw him, Logan looked electric and Ive been excited to see his return.

He said he was eager to learn from David, so if that's the case, I think he's going to want to change his game in order to emulate him.

THE best times in the 3-cone and 20 yd shuttle, and third best in 60 yd shuttle. Huge horizontal weapon potential if used right. But the interview is amazing. Like Zaz says we won’t know his play on the field, but his head is on his shoulders as well as any I’ve seen speak.

I would've been fine with waiting another year to draft a RB especially with us having other needs but I'll trust Keim and company that their overall rating on him was high enough to justify taking him.
It's kind of one of those things where let's say you have an A+ rating on a guy, and an A rating on the other guy but the second guy fills a position of need. I'd probably take the A rated guy because my grade is relatively and he fills a position of need.
But let's say I have an A+ rated guy,and a B+ rated guy. Even though the B+rated guy fills a position of need, I would still take the A+ rated guy because the grade disparity is so high.

Carolina has had for years a 1-2 punch at RB that has served them well. I see this pick as adding the #2 punch to go with David's #1.
Elijah Penny may never be that #2 RB, even though he is still listed as a RB. But he can be a decent FB in the right Offensive scheme. Ramesh the rookie FB and Coleman the vet FB will push for that spot too.
TJ Logan is a scat back and a KR/PR returner. If he shows what he did last training camp then the Card's return game will take a major step forward even with the New Rule changes.
DJ Foster is also a work in progress to find his role as he is similar to TJ but imhpo I don't think he is as fast or twitchy. Can catch though and TJ still has to show that as well.
I think we have a fairly balanced RB room now to start the year off with.
Again time will tell and we will watch as it all shakes out. Is there some gems in the rough that are going to shine thru the shaker's box that this upcoming OTAs and Mini will expose?

I'm not as high on this pick. His scouting report indicates he bounces a lot to the outside to get his gains. You don't succeed in the NFL with that at all.

Edmunds isn’t a bit fat, is 4 inches shorter, yet only 14 lbs lighter. 3” shorter than Foster yet 15 lbs heavier. That kid must pack a punch. And I like Ramesh as a potential FB.
