to get a 34 year old Smith and sign him to a big contract during a rebuild made no sense. Rosen will be the guy and as long as the protection is good we will see him this season. I'm pretty sure Bradford will still go down this season but I see his strategy now. Dont look downfield at all . Just hit the check down real fast. Exactly, there is no reason to get upset about this years team. This years team is all about getting Rosen up to speed and getting the new D installed and figuring out who stays and who goes when we have the cash next year to fix it. Yesterday was ugly and nobody wants to watch a season of games like that. If Wilks can turn into a top notch HC and Rosen is the real deal it will be worth the pain. Thank god for Rosen because I'd be beside myself watching Mahomes light it up. He was the guy I really wanted that year.

Back when Alex Smith was available many posters here bad mouthed him horrifically. Wanted no part of him on this team. Hmmm...… Yup. He was always a better choice.I even got ripped for saying we should sign him or Tyrod Taylor. Both better AND much cheaper options. Alex SMith cheaper? Here's his contract: Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith signed a four-year, $94 million extension with the team last week, reports NFL.com. Smith will make $40 million this upcoming season, which includes a $27 million signing bonus, according to the report. The deal also includes $71 million in guarantees for injury, meaning Smith is under contract for five years and $111 million.

Sam has a lower guaranteed contract than Taylor who was 15 for 40 yesterday. Smith has 71 million in guaranteed money from the Skins. Bradfords contract is peanuts compared to Smith's.

Funny....I'm in Kansas visiting my daughter and was unable to catch the Cards game, (fortunately) but did get an eyeful of Patrick. He's the real deal.

Okay sorry about Alex being cheaper...but Tyrod Taylot is MUCH cheaper and a far better QB who can win and is mobile. Tyrod Taylor was the guy i wanted them to sign.Or Teddy Bridgewater

Back when Alex Smith was available many posters here bad mouthed him horrifically. Wanted no part of him on this team. Hmmm...… Would you rather have AS or Rosen? I would have rather moved up to draft Mahomes or Watson last year but I'd still rather have Rosen than Smith tied up through 2021 at the earliest. FYI Mahomes had 4 TD's yesterday. KC isn't missing AS. The move this offseason after completely being out maneuvered in last years draft was getting TB for peanuts and drafting a QB. That would have actually made the Glennon signing tolerable. This team is rebuilding for next year. Spending big money on either Smith or Bradford didn't make any sense. Who is to say that we would not have gotten Rosen anyway? Rosen was not a gimme because we signed Bradford. Nor would he have been if we signed Smith. So the either or does not apply here at all.

Rosen wasn't guaranteed but if we signed Smith we would not have moved up to grab Rosen or any QB. Why would we? Smith was a sign and trade deal that ties up both him and the team through at least 2021. The Bradford signing didn't guarantee Rosen just that we were going to draft a QB. Bradford's deal was designed to dump him for a drafted QB next year. To answer your question I would rather have Jackson or Allen than Bradford. I would rather have either one of them then be committed to Alex Smith for 4 years.

I still have not heard why they didnt resign Tramon Williams. He was worth a decent check to keep him here. That position is now how its always been.Such a loss imo.

Right, and I bet we'll never learn who or why - but probably done by someone with a big future hangover*. Here we are again, scratching crabs and playing guys off the street* as CBs for what looks to be another year. Some personnel decisions by the Cards just cannot be justified by logic, and dumping T Williams was truly a case of doubling down on . At the very least he was more than adequate for another season even if getting older.
How can we build or rebuild anything by using toilet paper and library paste and tossing away still good, used bricks*?
*figures of speech.

Because Tramon Wanted to be back in GB. 2. And got a contract from GB that the FO could not match. Most importantly: 3. Can't make a FA play where he does Not want to play, especially one as tenured and financially secure as Tramon. Tramon is where Tramon Wanted to be. Accept the facts.

They didnt offer him a contract tho.Money changes peoples minds. Its not like GB gave him a lot of money. They couldve at least attempted to give him a bigger contract. The money was there.
