MVP: Cap Capi. 3 sacks. Showing why he has such a big fan base. Should easily make the team as backup OLB. A+
2nd Choice MVP: Bene Benwikere. 3 Forced Fumbles. 1 tip INT. Couldve not have made a bigger impact. A+.
1. The starting Unit OL Looked AMAZING. Just incredible. Maybe the best ive seen it in AZ. Please none of you get hurt. A+.
2. David Johnson looked like David Johnson. Started with the excellent OL blocking, but he looked great running out there.
3. Run D looked very good. Still early, but I think this group works well as a 4-3.
4. Really good coaching as a whole. Only 1 delay of game. No 12 men on the field. Few (if any) false starts. No offsides. Other than the tackling flags and Brandons PI's, this was a very disciplined unit.
5. I dont think I like Mike Mccoys offense.....waaaay too many short throws. Too many runs as well. Maybe it was just PS, but It was excruciating watching his 5 yards or less offense.
6. Rosen - impossible to judge. That OL and worst center ever ruined everything. He was completely out of funk. But still, I think he threw some great passes. He played alot better than the stat line. I think he get a B+.
Monday Cuts:
1. Daniel Munyer. Single handily sabotaged Rosens night by bowling snaps to him. That was unbelievable.
2. Brandon Williams. Time to cut the cord. With Keim gone, theres nobody here to protect him.
3. Evan Boehm. And really the entire 2nd team OL. But Boehm was a huge part why Rosen was getting eaten alive. Hes not an NFL player.
4. DJ Foster and Penny. Really no need. Our RB room is full.
I give our starting O and starting D an A+ grade. I thought that was a stupendous performance. Very optimistic.
With that said, I think our back ups are horrible. Especially the OL. All 5 guys just looked BAD. 2nd unit DL was OK. 2nd unit DBs were OK (excluding Brandon). But man that 2nd unit OL needs to all get cut and replaced ASAP.

you do realize I spent the past week getting ripped for looking at free agent centers because "we already have more than enough quality linemen that need the snaps"? looks like its gonna be your turn tomorrow. I still think we should make a play for greg mancz. he's the most bang for the buck and proven at center. he's only houstons back up so they probably wont fight that hard for him, they only gave him an original round tender but he was undrafted so the are only offering him the minimum and he did pretty good in 2016 when filling in for the injured starter. he kind of sucks at guard but that doesn't really matter since we need him for center. matt paradis is the only avalible center who's better but will cost 4X as much cap money and our #2 pick next year and being denvers starter for the past 3 years they will fight for him and he will probably end up costing us 10-12 mill a year plus the 2nd. we can get mancz for less than 2 mill a year.
and you had my expectations for rosen so high I was disappointed in the boy tonight. maybe I can blame you this week but if he doesn't look better next week I am going to put him and your judgment on rims bus to ill.

Nice summary Zaz which I mostly agree with. I would also add Mike Glennon to your list of Monday cuts.

Yeah, Munyer needs to be cut ASAP. Just insanely unacceptable to go out there and not make a single good snap. Like what the absolute foo are you doing? Looked like he barely blocked anyone either. Boehm is automatically the backup center now, at least until we sign someone else. Poor Rosen was playing behind a bunch of schmucks. Shame. Let's see what he can do behind the 1st team OL next game.
I didn't mind McCoy's offense. Yeah it's quick with some short throws but that may be what's necessary to keep Bradford upright. We'll see how it plays out. But Johnson and Edmonds looked really good and will really drive the offense.
I think Rudy Ford, AJ Howard and Jeremy Cash looked good, they were all over the place and could be key backups and special teamers.
Defense looked good. Nkemdiche and Reddick were solid. If they become performers, then the defense is lethal. Jones, Peters, Pierre were their usual solid selves so I'm happy about the DL.

I don't know about an A+ for ol-only a few pass plays-so we didn't see how their pass protection will be. its only one game but ive been saying since before camp started that glennon and most 2nd unit ol were awful.i hope kanoff continues to play well and ens up on practice squad-no way glennon gets cut considering bradfords injury history. otherwise im in agreement with ZAZ.

The Good
- Cap Capi - incredible showing tonight. Would like to see him get some reps against first team units eventually though
- Bene Benwikere - had one of the best overall games tonight. Constantly making plays
- A.J. Howard - tip drill pick and should have had a FF that resulted in a turnover that was incorrectly called a penalty
- Robert Nkemdiche & Olsen Pierre - forced some pressures and looked like they were adapting well to playing inside
- First team offense - DJ looked like himself and the O-Line was solid.
The Bad
- Daniel Munyer - needs to go ASAP. That was embarassing to watch
- Brandon Williams - continues to show no progress and I doubt he makes the roster this year
- The WR group - did anyone make a good play tonight? I don't think so. Expected more out of Kirk going against 2nd stringers
- 2nd string O-Line - what a mess this unit was

2nd string O-line main problem was Center Munyer and whoever was at RG. I could not see his number clearly but it was not good what was happening to him. And I swear the 1st time I noticed his play his number started with a 7. I thought it was Andre Smith #71 early but that did not make sense.
LT Holden and LG Boehm did not play badly. Wetzel at RT was so so.
The Chargers kept Melvin Ingrim their other Pass rush stud in the game well into the 2nd quarter. He gave Wetzel and the RG fits.
Overall Munyer is not the back up Center and should fall down the depth chart. A vet Center to back up Cole is needed if they are not going to give Evan Boehm a chance to play center to see what he really can do at the position he was drafted for. Currently he's Iupati's back up. Munyer was too concerned about who was across from him to give Rosen a decent hike. And as Rosen had to pick at least 6 hikes in the shotgun off his ankles that just gave the LAC defenders 2 free steps towards Rosen. Can't give the pass rusher 2 free steps.
Was the RG Allen? From the charger's broadcast from KABC LA ch 7 you could not tell because all their camera work was on the Chargers.
Kanoff with the 3rd stringers was good, if not excellent. He's a keeper so far.
Glennon on the other hand was so slow on his reads it hurt. It was like he was a rookie playing in molasses instead of a vet QB. If this plays out for him the same in the next PS game....he's got to get cut at the 53 man cut down. Right now he's a "failed experiment".

First string offense looked good for the little they were out there. DJ looked like a bull. Way to go to start the game. Two 14 yard runs right up the middle. That will set the tone for any offense. D looked like it knew what it was doing for switching over from a 3/4 to a 4/3. I think before the season is over Pierre will supplant Diche as the starter at DT. Guy just wants it.
Second string looked bad. Center had a lot to do with it though. Can't say much about Rosen, since he was fielding grounders all night and throwing the timing off. I hope we never see Glennon in a game. Kanoff looked like he knew what he was doing. Be nice if he developed into a good back up. Back ups did had their players. Capri and a few others stood out.
All in all. Once the 1st teams left the field it was a pre season game. Lot of fits and stops. Some good plays and a lot of misses.

My impression. Jones is one big dude at QB. He looked like the biggest man on the field. McCoy isn't going to make me miss BA. It's good to see DJ look like DJ. Pre-season football is a hot mess. Making season ticket holders pay for it borders on criminal theft. Rosen looked good bending down to pick up the football and getting his head up and looking down field.
It's pretty apparent that we won't know what we have for at least 3 or 4 regular season games. As scrimmages go, that was a mess.

we know what we don't have, a back up center.

we know what we don't have, a back up center. In the past few years the only other performance in pre season I saw that was as bad was brandon Williams. The guy would get torched by second and third stringers over and over. And Keim was raving about how great he was. He sucked so badly I knew he would never make up for what he lacked. He sucked back then and still sucks. How he has collected a paycheck into year 3 is beyond me. Just protecting Keim's ego.

I"m afraid we are going to have a situation where any injury to our thin Oline will be magnified.
No way what marched out once the starters left resembled anything that would keep our QB upright in the regular season.
Can you imagine that group of denigrates against the LA Rams.
The Arizona cardinals have not drafted a pro bowl offensive lineman in 25 years (?). This group is only a slight upgrade over what we had in the Rod Graves era.
I dont want to subject our new shiny rookie QB to a cast of NFL misfits. Rosen will end up like Bradford in terms of injuries.
