Went today. Went twice last week. I have been to 3. Therefore I am now an expert.
REPORT Consistent trends over 3 practices:
- high energy, high tempo. Everything is done with urgency. Units run from drill to drill. Look like they are having fun. - Regimented. Very well organized. I love the team stretching. It just makes them look like a TEAM. Players dont seem to mind at all. - Bradford is by far the best QB. 0% chance hes beaten out. -1,000% Bradford gets hurt. Why?.....he runs for 1st downs. Often. No joking. Captain No Cartilage quite often runs for 1st downs when he cant find a receiver. Oh boy. Get the cart ready. - OL looks good. OR the DL looks bad. Im not sure which. But the OL dominates the DL consistently. - Mason Cole might secretly be our best rookie. He just never gets beat. Very impressive. - Shipley hurt his leg today, so Mason might be Center of the future immediately. Not a bad thing. - Rosen struggles with endzone corner fades. Coincidentally Carsons favorite throw. He consistently over throws it. May need to try something else. - Kirk is consistently invisible. If he werent a 2nd round pick, Id think hes some try out guy. Over 3 practices he hasnt WOW'd once. - Good CB unit. No superstars, but I havent seen any weak points. No Bethels getting beat up on. Boston, Budda, Taylor, Bene, PP. All work well together. - Josh Bynes will do a stellar job as starter. Not allowed to tackle, but hes always stuffing the run. - Also Reddick looks much improved. Hes very fast for a LB. Never gets beaten around the edge in a footrace. - BA ball is dead. Maybe 1-2 deep throws over the course of practice. Get ready for lots of 5 yard dumps. Not a bad thing. Just boring in comparison. - So few players sign autographs. Ill never understand. They act as if its a burden. The exception: Chandler Jones. By far more interactive player with fans.

Hi Zaz, Thank you for sharing your observations from training camp. - Kirk is consistently invisible. Lets hope that this changes over the remainder of the preseason and that he can contribute as a WR on this team. - BA ball is dead. BA ball was dead and buried after the debacle in Charlotte. We have unfortunately had to suffer and endure it for the last two seasons.

Hey, Zaz - Great job being concise and to the point - and covering all that I could think to ask.
Didn't anyone "talk to" Sam after he made those runs? Surprising if not... He's the last one I would expect to pull the Devil's tail. Maybe the defense was under orders not to make contact?
PS - the fades are a concern, but then again we are used to not making them, aren't we?

if rosen is constantly over throwing it is probably because he is accustomed to throwing at sea level where the air is denser and takes more off the ball. they should make him throw 10 passes to every receiver on the roster as part of warmups before practice to let his subconscious adjust to the new conditions. its harder to unlearn and relearn something than it is to learn it from scratch. it takes a lot of reps to change your instinct.

Zaz -- thanks for the report. Especially on how Reddick and the DB's are doing. Wilks and DB Coach David Merritt, Sr. both have EXCELLENT reputations for coaching up defensive backs. The defense will be good but could move into elite class if last two former 1st rounders (Nkemdiche/Reddick) along with better secondary help from all those not named Peterson ... could be special. All of the above should improve due to the simplification of assignments with the new defense and I am really, really hoping that Reddick can turn into Daryl Washington 2.0 ... without the weed habit.
Glad also to hear that the murmurs out of camp that the OL under Ray Brown's coaching looks to be a solid group is reflective in their play at the scrimmage.

Thanks ZAZ, any observations on the rb’s? TJ Logan should be really good. He runs harder/faster in practice than any player on the team.

Hes done it far too many times at this point for it not to be a normal part of the offense. I cant wrap my head around it. If theres 1 player in the NFL who doesnt need to run the ball, its Bradford.

Nice report.....
I don't mind BA ball being gone. 1, It's the only way both Bradford and Rosen last the season and 2, IMO we don't have the deep WR's for it.

Maybe the "drop in the bucket" competitions have gone away with new coaching staff. Going back to Kurt Warner vs. Matt Leinart, the Cards at end of practice setting up trash cans in the corner of end zone for the QB's to have a competition on throwing the football inside the garbage can. Sounds like they may want to bring this back for additional Rosen practice. Media members who have stayed to watch said Kurt Warner was undefeated vs. Matt Leinart and Carson Palmer in the 2015 season won EVERY week UNTIL the week following the infamous Eagle game where he injured the index finger on his throwing hand.
FWIW - it seems like that drill/competition does show whom is the most accurate QB on the roster.

You also have to remember all the QBs who played trashcan ball are gone. CP, Stanton, all the backups who ever played with them. We have 3 brand new QBs on this roster who never played trashball. So the only person on this team who would keep it alive, would be Patrick. And as a CB, im sure he'd feel awkward going up to the 3 new QBs and saying "Hey guys, want to have a contest to see who can throw the ball into a trash can?".

Chase Edmonds was the best rookie out there. The brief time they actually decided to tackle he absolutely laid out Budda yesterday (who had a bad practice overall) and looked shifty the entire practice.
The first play of the scrimmage would have been a sack but of course they won't hit Bradford but he threw a pick anyway but I do agree he just walks like his knee could give out at any moment.

He will be just fine, as the new NFL rules don’t allow anything but two hand touch if a QB is over 28
