From what I remember, I thought Monti said he was going to spend money in FA? Did I not understand this correctly? Because so far, I don't see any starter we are going to sign in FA. Hmm...with all the cap space we have...I was truly expecting us to sign at least one starter. Well, maybe we can ink Henry to help us create a killer RB duo.

That said...I think we got a starter at LB. We still need a ton of help on that DL though.

From what I remember, I thought Monti said he was going to spend money in FA? Two big contacts handed out at DT for starters. Both players are of a good age and each has been very durable in terms of availability to play games, so on these basics alone then you have to be pleased. - I cannot vouch for them, but you can only imagine that the FO have put a lot of work into their evaluation. - We have also brought back LJ Collier, hence one major weakness has certainly been targeted. The return of Trystan Colon was a good move, he played well last season and should prove to be a useful back-up Guard when the injuries start to kick-in. - I think fans are still hoping for a big move at Guard, but looking at the contracts of some of the top guys are getting then I'm not so sure. Perhaps there is a 28 year old out there, who has performed to a good standard and has hardly ever missed a game from injury and will cost in the order of $8-$10 million (this would appear to be the blue print of the type of player we are looking at). With Greg Dortch safely back then I'm expecting another WR through the stable door. It could still be Hollywood Brown, who might just be 'testing the market' with a one-year contract offer from the Cardinals in his back pocket. - With the high financial cost of a top-end WR then my expectation level is quite modest. A WR2/ WR3 type is required and you would think then a receiver will be taken somewhere in the first two rounds of the draft. The Sean Murphy-Bunting signing still keeps open the option for Cornerback in the draft. Does Murphy-Bunting replace Hamilton in the 53-roster, or is there room for both of them? - It would seem that Sean has been brought in to nail down the slot-CB position and (if so) his performances next season will be pivotal to our success (or lack thereof). Looking at the transactions so far then I think the answer is that he has spent money. No big splash signing so far and maybe folks would prefer that. - Are the FO to be praised for judiciously using the financial resources available, or guilty of 'spreading the jam too thinly' trying to cover a multitude of needs? That is down to the individual reader to take a view and no doubt the real answer will become evident in the fulness of time (during and after the 2024 season!).

Here’s our veteran corner. Thoughts? Give it a B Traviebnice, welcome to the Forum! Bring your friends. I think a "B" grade is generous, unless you are grading on the curve! I give Monti an "A" grade for signing a former 2nd rounder with some okay skills and at a FA discount price. I give the hyphened new CB a "C" grade for obvious reasons--and can he stay on the field for 17 games? Best always, EZ

Deejay Dallas intends to sign with us. Looks like a ST guy This team should not ever return a kick off. Take the touchback every time. They rarely even get to the 25. Chicken fans happy to see him go and laugh at the special teams ace moniker. Maybe he is a beast on coverage teams, but this does not seem to be much of a move. *Edit* looks like he returns punts too (10.6 average 2023). Nine tackles in 4 seasons, so I guess that answers his worth on coverage teams.

This is all a big let down so far. I could rite a five page tirade about why I'm unhappy with this... But I'm too disgusted

So far our Dline IMO has NOT been improved. Both guys we signed were considered liabilities to their former teams by scanning their fan boards. We let go a larger Dlineman in Fotu who plays just as crappy.
I don’t feel better at CB with Murphy-Bunting. Not a CB1, not a CB2, just a zone, slot coverage guy. Lose Hamilton, gain M-B. Not much to be excited about.
LB Mack Wilson looks like an upgrade, but with our remaining ILB corps that is not saying much. The punt returner looks like a good returner, but we have Moore and Dortch.
I don’t feel like we are going into the draft with ANYTHING solved so far. Tackle, WR1, another WR, LG, two or three Dlineman better than our sorry lot, an edge LB, ILB, CB1…even another TE and backup QB.
Maybe they are keeping the powder dry for a few impact guys who slip past the first week of free agency.

These picks seem more about durability and depth then anything else.
