We just went from Brady and the Patriots to Mahomes and the Chiefs. Nothing changes. Just a new lick of paint.

The 9ers should have deferred with the current OT rules.

The 9ers should have deferred with the current OT rules. They are saying that was a big difference.

It’s a good night sleep for me tonight…why…
1) Watched a well played…well coached…Exciting Over-Time football game; 2) Won some money on the Chiefs; 3) Saw the 49ers lose another Super Bowl…and that just never gets old for me!!! 😂

Well, the Niners defense has come to play so far. In the first and second quarters, Wilks was employing a solid 4-3 defense versus the Chiefs offense. Wilks has the right people to make a 4/3 work well.

For the members who want to watch a replay of SB LVIII, here is the 21-minute YouTube condensed version. Tony Romo makes some funny comments. He is no fan of SF.
I am going to spend some time reviewing the 49ers defenses vs the Chiefs offenses. The 49ers D was exceptionally sharp most of the game. What does DC Rallis have to do to make the Cardinals' defense equally fierce? To win the NFC West Division, the Cardinals have to be better than the 49ers. And it starts with the D.
The 49ers Special Teams should have their own 'lowlight' replay. The ST cost the 49ers the SB last night.
I was surprised to see Mahomes run as much as he did. He used body language a bunch of times to get the 49ers looking somewhere else several times.
Good game overall.

Lucky guy to get dumped by the Jets. Hardman will always be remembered as the castoff that caught the pass that won a Super Bowl. He went from "Nobody" to "Somebody" is a nanosecond. I enjoyed watching the KC creativity that went into that OT game-winning catch by #12 Hardman. The 49ers covered well on the KC's WR, TE, and the QB on that play. #12 Hardman was lined up in the right slot. At the snap, #12 runs left 2-3 steps, stops, and then dashes to the right. The 49ers Edge, LB, and CB come forward 2-3 steps to cut off KC's running and passing lanes. #12 then slipped into the seam behind the SF Edge, LB, and CB. Nobody saw him. The SF D expected Mahomes to throw to a TE or run the ball. Hardman was ignored and wide open. Game over. I then watched the SF defense's reaction when #12 caught the ball. Two SF defenders looked behind themselves as if to say, "Where did #12 come from?" Or, "WTF. That was your man." The final play was good for just a few yards but also good enough to win the Lombardy Trophy.

My thoughts are as follows: - Why did Shanahan go 6 for 6 in passes to open up the 2nd half ? - two straight 3 and outs with no time taken off clock
- 49ers ST's -- yikes, cost them 8 points. Why the punt returner tried to pick up the ball rather than just jumping on it, I will never know.
- When 49ers were driving at end of 4th qtr., did Karlaftis fake an injury to save the Chiefs a timeout and to help the Chiefs defense who were gassed ?
- Why didn't Shanahan put Kittle in one play earlier to prevent #9's holding penalty for the 49ers to bring back having the ball on the Chiefs 4 yd line with a first down -- TD there rather than a FG would have been HUGE !!!
- Greenlaw will most likely not be available to the 49ers this next year until mid - November or sol
- Wonder if Purdy will want a nice fat contract before 2024 season or wait until 2025 before getting paid big #'s and ruin the 49ers advantage to having a productive, minimum paid player at the QB position.
- As I stated before the game, Chiefs OL with a backup LG and a RT who led the league in holding penalties during the regular season - Chiefs called for ZERO holding penalties on the offense. Especially in 2nd half, saw a couple of 49ers shoot thru the middle of the line only to be tackled with no call - one thing I'll give Reid and the Chiefs is they do dare the refs to call holding and egregious "pick" play holding calls in 2nd half ... most times as was the case yesterday, no calls were made. If only the 49ers had held Chris Jones on a few plays where he made the difference and dare the refs to call holding.
