Can Chase Young/Nick Bosa draw at least 2-3 holding penalties on the underperforming tackles of the Chiefs ? Can Fred Warner who is regarded as the best coverage LB slow down Travis Swift ? Will the 49ers have the lead into the 4th qtr and HC Shanahan get "tight" giving away a victory with some perplexing calls/time management issues ?
As someone who wants the 49ers as my disdain for the Chiefs trumps my dislike of the 49ers ... I worry about the Reid vs. Wilks matchup in coaching. I guarantee the Chiefs will employ at least one trick play and will the 49ers have defensive discipline to now allow a big play when it happens.
However IMO if Shanahan remembers to give McCaffery a high degree of touches and Young/Bosa can draw a few holding penalties .... then the 49ers definitely can win. McCaffery touches means moving the ball thru the ground and short passes out of the backfield keeps Mahomes off the field. and if you couple that strategy to 1-2 drives being stymied by holding penalties on their OT's -- the game can definitely result in a 49ers victory.

All year long it looked like the 49ers and the Ravens were the best teams destined to play for the Lombardi. But the Ravens have been ousted and the 49ers have not past the “eye” test in their (2) playoff wins…both of which should have been loses. In these games…I focus on the Match-Ups of QB’s, Head Coaches, and Coordinators…for the “edge” in the game. To me…KC possess the edge at QB and Defensive Coordinator. Both Head Coaches are solid…Shanahan is where Reid was years ago trying to get over the “hump” of winning a Super Bowl. But both are brilliant offensive minds. But…to me…this game turns on the match-ups of QB’s vs Defensive Coordinators…and I just can’t see Wilkes out game planning Mahomes like I see Spags being able to game plan against Purdy…and that’s the “edge” to me. Spags is having a GREAT year as DC. His game planning has been spot on in the playoffs. His in-game adjustments are well documented. His blitz packages have been timely called and well schemed. When looking at the 49ers juggernaut of talent this year…I said to myself…the only thing that is going to stop them is Wilkes as their DC and going up against someone who exploits Purdy into being more…much more…then a game manager…and having to carry the 49ers on his back to the Championship. Well…this is the Match-Up to do it. Mahomes is Wilkes worst nightmare…and I believe Spags this year is Purdy’s…and that’s the real difference in this game. KC 27 49ers 21 KC picks Purdy off (2) times…killing would be point drives…the final one as Purdy tries to lead the 49ers on a late 4th quarter winning drive with a patented Spags blitz that causes the turnover. RTP, Thanks for highlighting the two DCs vs. the two QBs. I don't think anyone did that on this Forum in the past. I agree with you that Mahomes will beat Wilks and Spags will whack Purdy. Spags is easily the best DC. And Mahomes is easily the best QB. But there are 20 other guys on the teams and they will have something to say about the scoring. I think the HCs are a toss up. Both guys know how to beat good teams. I'm not budging from my bet...KC +7 today. SF barely got past GB and DET. SF will come up short vs. KC today.

I'm looking for bigger spread more like a 10 point deficit. Lets be honest too The NFC QBs are not in the same class as The AFC quarterbacks are at this point in time. The 49ers have a good offense but that secondary got exploited quite a bit. Will Purdy be nervous and try to over do it. Shanahan has had his problems getting this team over the humps. The last time they lost in the Super Bowl was on him.

Well, the Niners defense has come to play so far. That 9ers front 4 (front 7 really) making Mahommes hear footsteps & keeping Chiefs from executing their game plan IMO. Our front office should take notice.

I have to say, this is not the game that was expecting to see.
As I have said earlier in this thread, I don't care who wins.
The team that I thought would be more competent from being there so often seems to be a bit shaken. You have to give the 49'ers kudos for saying...no you don't, we came to play.
Since I don't like either team, I kind of surprised that I'm enjoying the game as much as I am.
Still a whole half to play, anything can happen.
