I can't help but wonder. If the Bears decide to go HJR at number one overall, and the Cards then go Caleb or Drake at number two with Kyler still on the roster......if that might trigger a QB needing team (Commander, Falcons, Raiders, Titans, Broncos since Wilson is on his way out, or maybe even the Steelers) to approach the Cards about working out a trade deal for Kyler. Such a scenario I think could prove very interesting. It never ends… One thing for sure, this will be one of the most interesting off seasons for sure. Speculations will be off the charts.

Such a scenario I think could prove very interesting. It never ends… Dry Heat logic aside, you never know what kind of wheeling and dealing might be in the works and nothing is a given. I personally don't think all of these mock analyst who repeatedly raise the prospect of the Cardinals possibly dealing Kyler are oblivious to the financial implications that would be involved. Also to use your business argument analogy, if you have something someone else views as possibly of value to them long term, they just might be willing to compromise in some way financially to get it if they believe they can get a good enough return for it. Short term expense in exchange for long term gain is nothing new. Somebody out there just might be willing to absorb some of the cost of Kyler's contract along with maybe some additional compensation (i.e. draft capital, additional players, etc.). I don't think anything is off the table especially concerning QB's nowadays, and I won't believe anything until I see it.

DH and MG85, I have yet to find an analyst or fan who analyzes why MO will draft a QB in round one -- and suggest that QB will sit and learn for a year like teams used to do decades ago. Everyone seems to have forgotten that it takes years to grow an All Pro - level QB. There is immense pressure from team managers and the NFL glitterati to throw the newest QB talent onto the gridiron and see what he can do. Results vary of course.
MO has the draft positions and the draft capital to shake up the upper rounds of the 2024 Draft. Taking a top-rated QB at #2 would shake up things. Imagine how that would cause KM to react to real competition.

To your valid point about what it takes to cement an All Pro QB, here's another thing I think might impact the draft when it comes to QB's. Kirk Cousins and Russell Wilson are gonna be hanging fruit next season. So what will the Patriots, Giants, Falcons, Commanders, Minnesota, Raiders or Titans do (lol!)?

I've never been this hyped about an upcoming draft, and I think MO is playing a part given how well he did last draft out the gate. I'd feel pretty depressed if keim was still there.

Jackson Dart and Ole Miss just destroyed Penn State's #1 rated defense in their bowl game. If we don't get a QB this year, Jackson should be one of the top-5 rated QBs next year. Ole Miss top WR, perhaps the best in the SEC, Tre Harris, averaged almost 20 yards per catch and had 7 catches

Why does that word (short) keep coming up. Danged it. I need AI help.

Last I saw he was in the transfer portal, he must not have gotten the NIL money offer he was expecting. I thought he was a diamond in the rough in the 2023 draft, until he stayed at WSU. If I remember correctly he played in Texas at Incarnate Word before transferring to WSU. He has about six years of playing QB in college so he has experience. The draft is still getting the six and seven year players from the covid year non-counter. One of the reminders in the bowl game with Oregon is the amount of short passes Oregon throws and the forward laterals that count as passes. Makes Nix’s pass percentage look good on the books, but doesn’t translate in the NFL like a QB who can stretch the field with accurate medium and long passes. Many Colt and Dobbs type who may translate into the NFL with low ceilings. The QB who has ice in their veins and can deliver the deep pass at will are far and few between.

He redshirted his freshman year and is draft eligible. He is one of the top 4 corners depending on the type of CB teams want. Would not even be shocked if he was the first one off the board.

Penix probably raised his Draft value a tad after last night's performance vs. Texas. Michigan will be another good test for him next Monday night. He made some big plays under maximum pressure vs. Alabama. He's going to be an old rookie when drafted. He's 24 already. He's a lefty, has had a few knee issues in the past, and is not highly mobile. He is likely a pocket passer in an NFL team system.
McCarthy is not 100% NFL-ready. He should stay at UofM for one more year. He has 1 redshirt year of eligibility left at UofM. Harbaugh wants him to come back for another year. Lastly, the QB competition is going to push McCarthy down maybe into the 2nd Round at the Draft in April. He's a smart QB and a good athlete. Michigan's defense will have problems with Washington's passing game. I don't know if McCarthy can generate enough TDs to keep up with Penix.
