I like the exercise...but.. .wouldn't it be easier to take Marv...and target RTs like Latham or Fuaga with the second pick? We then move Paris to the left. Could be Cardinalsins, but each choice pathway has it's consequences. I have taken up your 'offer' and done a mock draft on the Pro-Football site, and the following occurred - #3 - I took Marvin Harrison Jr, who was available (the first two picks went the usual two QB suspects). #17 - Fashanu, Alt, Latham and Fuaga had all gone (I cannot recall if Mims was still on the board or not). An offer to Trade Down with Houston popped up, which I accepted. In return for the #17 we received their #26 and the Texans second-rounder in 2025. An excellent bit of business I thought, and perhaps the Houston Texans are becoming our annual partners in the trading dance ball. #26 - I took Leonard Taylor III, DT #34 - I took Quinyon Mitchell, CB Both of the above gentlemen fill a big Cardinals need, and I had mentioned them in the previous piece. #67 - I took another WR, Ja'Lynn Polk, hence no shortage of targets for Kyler Murray after this draft then. #71 - I took Jackson Powers-Johnson, Center. - A good option and great value here. - My thinking is he competes with Froholdt for the starting spot next season and Jon Gaines II can be developed as a 'swing Guard'. In this example we have gained plenty of weapons for Kyler and filled a couple of big needs on Defense (DT and CB). - The Trade Down #17, I feel, makes the outcome particularly attractive and there is much to like about it overall. - The glaring void is at OT and that would indicate DJ Humphries will be sticking around in Arizona for at least another year. He did have an excellent outing v the 49ers, and perhaps there is merit in keeping him on board. However, my gut feeling is that DJ may be starting to slow and I am concerned that going forward he becomes less productive and reliable as time moves on. - With some talented OT's available in this coming draft I am keen to take advantage and upgrade now whilst we can (talent on offer + our high draft pick status). So, the Cardinals will have (all being well) a luxury of choices to decide upon. Marvin #3 is the 'bookies favorite' and it wouldn't surprise anyone (me included) should we just take him and be done with any horse-trading with that first pick. Maybe Monti will, or maybe not, we won't know until the actual day. - I still think it's not cut and dried he will be available, in particular don't discount Chicago taking him #1 and then a Quarterback, say Jayden Daniels, after (They currently hold the #5 pick, but this could of course change). The Bears could perhaps fancy someone like Michael Pennix Jr, and he would be well within their reach with their second first-round pick. No doubt about it Chicago are in a real strong position to control the top-end of this draft (unless the Panthers now start out on a winning streak). My last comment about the Marvin Harrison Jr situation is that it does worry me a bit taking a receiver so high. I know people will preach 'generational talent' and think we should jump on the board and enjoy the ride. This might indeed be the smart choice, but I cannot get full steam behind the idea myself. The OT position, to upgrade now and have two Tackles in place, who should then form the bed-rock of our Offensive Line for year's to come, is so very enticing. How do you compare one option v the other? - If we did draft Harrison and then take a RT #17 then that would be great, but there is no guarantee (as the mock I did today demonstrated). Moving Paris Johnson to LT is a highly likely event, but a player like Olu Fashanu I believe will be an upgrade on Paris at LT (no slight on the later). Joe Alt is an interesting guy as well. A modest Trade Down with that first pick should allow the Cardinals to go and draft a Malik Nabers or Joe Alt plus get additional draft capital. - Think about if we also picked up (with the additional high pick this year) a talented (say) Cornerback, who went on to a fixture CB1/ CB2 for years ahead. A superb outcome that would be AND perhaps some more extra to come in 2025 as well.

I've done about 75 mock drafts it appears that the door is open for Monte to put on his Wheeler dealer hat again. As usual chances are teens will fall in love with some of these quarterbacks between now and the draft which of course would make the Cardinals number three pick that much more valuable. At this point I think we have to hope that the bears will take the best offensive tackle on the board at the number one pick. I can't possibly see anybody that the Patriots do not take a quarterback with the number two pick unless they like one of the guys that should go towards the end of the first round and trade out of the number two spot. But it could put the Cardinals in the position of holding the golden ticket for the number two quarterback coming out in the draft and hopefully some team will want to pay the farm for that choice.
I do know this and I think we would almost all agree, I feel much more comfortable headed into this off season with Monte in charge then what we dealt with previous

This is what I’ve been saying all along. QB2 is extremely important these days. They aren’t guys who are just going to hold a clipboard.

This is what I’ve been saying all along. QB2 is extremely important these days. They aren’t guys who are just going to hold a clipboard. I'm not aware of anyone saying we don't need of another Quarterback; rather it's a question of much resource we invest in this position. If we take a vet then how much salary cost would we consider, and if we pick a guy in the draft then at what level? The above is certainly up for debate and everyone will hold their own view. - I don't think the FO have given up Clayton Tune by any means and it really depends upon what is going on behind the scenes and how he is developing in training. The reference in the article to his one outing against the Browns (in effect that Clayton is a write-off) is very harsh in my opinion, and really he was thrown in before he was ready into a near-impossible situation. Three Quarterbacks on the roster required (especially with the increase in the number of games), hence 'await with interest' is the slogan here. If we recruit prior to the draft (or not) then this should give us a firm pointer on the FO's intentions.

I'm not real big on Hopper as he seems to get lots of unsportsmanlike late hit penalties Any ILB at this point to replace Woods, Pappoe isn’t going to magically figure out coverage, he may improve in time. White is the only ILB to play in 2023 and he needs a thumper next to him who can play the run at least. Thus the choice to double dip at two long armed DEs who can shed blocks and have a burst of speed. Darius Robinson 6’5” 295 LBs and Jordan Burch 6’6” 290 LBs. Jordan from SC and playing for SC and then Oregon comes from solid defensive coaching. Even Keith Randolph 6’5” 300 LBs who plays interior DT who battled injuries in 2023 and plays next to Newton at Illinois is a solid producer in run and pass rush. After the Bears game and Cards have no speed at DL who can get a tackle on the QB after busting through the OL.

Today - WF gave its detailed writeup on what the Cardinals should do for the 2024 draft:
Two years ago, the Detroit Lions were among the worst teams in the NFL and landed the No. 2-overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Now, the Lions are going to the playoffs thanks to astute drafting, good coaching, a capable veteran quarterback, and being armed with extra draft picks thanks to the Matthew Stafford trade. The Arizona Cardinals have the same opportunity as they have a talented veteran quarterback, a promising young coaching staff, and are armed with extra draft picks. New Arizona general manager Monti Ossenfort has a great opportunity to build the Cardinals into a top contender in the NFC.
The Cardinals are slated to have a top-five pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and a pick in the back half of the first round from the Houston Texans. High in Round 1, Arizona could have the opportunity to move down with a team that wants one of the top quarterback prospects. That would be a wise move as it would probably result in Arizona having multiple first-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft as well. Adding five first-round picks to the roster over three-draft span is what Lions general manager Brad Holmes did, and that could be an avenue for Ossenfort to rapidly add talent to the Arizona roster.
If the Cardinals opt not to move down or don’t find a quality offer that makes it worth their while, there will be some excellent prospects available to them high in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. In my latest mock 2024 NFL Draft, I have Arizona taking Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. While the Cardinals have some talent at receiver, they do not have an elite No. 1 receiver like Harrison. He could be a huge asset for Kyler Murray and make the Arizona offense much more dangerous. Having Harrison on the outside would open things up for Hollywood Brown, Trey McBride, and the rushing offense. Harrison would be a tremendous addition to the team’s scoring attack.
If Arizona were to trade down in the first round with a team that is looking for a quarterback, that would probably eliminate drafting Harrison, but the organization could have some other good options like LSU’s Malik Nabers, LSU’s Brian Thomas Jr., Washington’s Rome Odunze, Florida State’s Keon Coleman, Texas’ Xavier Worthy and Texas’ Adonai Mitchell. Any of that group would be a candidate for the Cardinals’ second selection in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
If the Cardinals don’t trade down and some team takes Harrison ahead of them, they could consider adding a defensive player like Alabama edge rusher Dallas Turner. Arizona needs more difference-makers in their front seven, and Turner would be a dangerous quarterback hunter to pair with Zaven Collins. With the pick Arizona has from the Texans, the franchise could consider other edge rushers like UCLA’s Laiatu Latu or Florida State’s Jared Verse. The Cardinals also could target some interior defensive line help with candidates like Ohio State’s Michael Hall Jr. and Michigan’s Kris Jenkins Jr.
Cornerback is another position worth the Cardinals considering with their pick from Houston. Adding a No. 1 corner is going to be necessary in the next year or two, and Arizona could address it via the 2024 or 2025 NFL Draft. Two candidates who the Cardinals could target next April would be Clemson’s Nate Wiggins or Georgia’s Kamari Lassiter.
Arizona has a lot of needs, but with two first-round picks and a high second-round pick, the franchise has flexibility with how to build the roster. If Ossenfort drafts well in 2024 and 2025, the Cardinals are fully capable of producing a quick around and being in playoff contention a couple of years from now

I look at them differently ever since they said Mike Jurecki is the most knowledgeable NFL insider in the league lol. Also comments like dangerous pairing Turner with Zaven haha. Zaven’s days are numbered if he remains outside and might be numbered regardless. If Cards really end up at 2 there are going to be some options.

I can’t help myself from grabbing him in the 5th all the time. Not sure he will be available then when it is all said and done but Moose Mohammed III from Texas A&M is someone I am intrigued by. 6’1 195lbs

Not sure he will be available then when it is all said and done but Moose Mohammed III from Texas A&M is someone I am intrigued by. 6’1 195lbs I really do like the thought process of doubling up on WR's in the draft. I am really hoping for a trade down opportunity for Monti to grab an extra late 4th or 5th rounder to deepen the WR room. However my pick is someone I see get open all the time and make big plays. Started a bit slow for the Tide but when QB Milroe began dramatically improving after the first few games this season, Jermaine Burton flashed some serious ability. Burton has big play ability as evidenced by his 22 yds/catch which is near the top in all of college football. Burton's best game this year was vs. Mohammed's Aggies where Burton had 9 catches for almost 200 yards. The WR position is so deep that Burton is listed in 'the teens" for the WR position depth. Burton - go to WR for Alabama
