The 33rd team draft out today - MHJ is a Cardinal. I feel the Patriots are the key for the Cardinals getting MHJ. Either they "stick and pick" to get their QB or feel they need to revamp the roster and trade down to get a lot of picks. I also think if the Pats decide to go MHJ at #3 and go for their QB at top of 2nd round with a JJ McCarthy, Bo Nix or Penix, then the Cards must trade down. I do feel the Falcons, Raiders and Giants make calls to Monti for a trade. 2024 Mock Draft - the33rd TEAM
P.S. Interesting in WF's latest draft, Cards get MHJ at #4 and Mims, Guyton & Morgan are all picked between #25 - #28. Right now the Cards pick #27 and top 3 picks of the following is very possible and I'd be very happy with (though my Option B is to trade down with Raiders and acquire Maxx Crosby along with the picks acquired that I posted in another thread): - MHJ WR
- OT: Mims, Guyton or Morgan at #27
- #35: Kris Jenkins DL - Michigan or Byron Murphy DL - Texas
NOTE: JV's podcasts have been adamant that front 7 and outside corner for productive veteran in either FA or in a trade is a high priority for Monti.

I do feel the Falcons, Raiders and Giants make calls to Monti for a trade. I really like the idea of a Trade Down with the Falcons, and #8 this would guarantee us the choice of an excellent player. If three Quarterbacks are taken #1, #2 and #3 then that would limit the attractiveness for any team Trading Up (and giving away significant draft capital). Logic dictates then, that I am hoping for a non-QB to be taken in the top three picks, and according to the majority of the pundits out there this would likely be Marvin Harrison Jr. It may not be a popular view on the forum, but I can envisage Monti doing a deal and letting Big Mervin pass us by. One of the top three WR's or one of the top two OT's would be 'in the bag', or Brock Bowers as an alternative option, and I am entirely comfortable with such an outcome. I just ask you how much better do you think Harrison is over Malik Nabers or Rome Odunze? That question appears unanswered to me.

Is it possible Harrison Jr, Nabers, and Ordunze are in the same tier of elite WR’s this year? What makes MHJ stand out beyond his last name, because others have better stats. Nabers and Ordunze benefitted from QBs who had incredible years, but that is a bit of a chicken and egg question itself. All three had WR’s with very good numbers opposite them. There is NO doubt in my mind MHJ is an elite WR prospect. His one weakness to me is yards after catch…he goes down on first contact. I hate that especially in a WR of his size. Adding weight and muscle can help that, but it’s even more a mindset thing and you can’t always change mindset.

WF's latest mock draft has MHJ going at #4 and after the Patriots Jarod Mayo's press conference, it does appear they are going QB. Bears interviewing K2 points to Caleb Williams going #1 so hopefully the 2024 draft has MHJ going at #4 for a "stick and pick" selection by Monti. Also WF polled GM's/Scouts for several teams and it does appear Bo Nix could sneak into the back half of the first round. So if the BIG THREE QB's and JJ McCarthy are selected in 1st round and Bo Nix goes in the mid-20's this helps the Cards in getting a player who drops to slot #27. Bo Nix could go in bottom portion of 1st Round

Some analysts see him drafted on Day 2 and parked on a team's bench for future use, aka a Jordan Love stash. Some analysts have him going at Round 4 and ranked #7 of QBs ( I saw that ridiculous RD 4 projection at Bleacher Report 4 days ago...that puts him in a sleepy category with our QB Clayton Tune). Some analysts see him drafted on Day 1 by a team that needs a game manager-type QB right now to compliment other key playmakers, aka a C.J. Stroud clone along with superior WR/TE/RB talent. McCarthy has a strong and mostly accurate arm. He plays in the gun, and under center when necessary. He runs well when flushed. He is smart and possibly the smartest QB on the NCAAF declared list. So, why is JJ not Top 4 QB material? He has an almost perfect W/L record at Michigan. He had great coaching from Harbaugh. Is it the Big Ten bias again? He's 6'3" and 205 lbs. Durability is not an issue.

Isn't that about normal? I have no idea. What's abnormal is the idea that QBs will go 1-2-3. I definitely think CHI #1 will trade down. But with who? Not NE. Not WAS. Not ARZ. And not LAC at #5. The QB hungry NYG and ATL owners are the optimal trade partners for CHI, especially ATL if Belichick get the ATL HC gig. But Belichick is not famous for trading up. So, maybe NYG is going to trade with CHI and select (Williams/Maye/Daniels/Nix/Penix/McCarthy). The only way the Cardinals get involved with a Bear trade is if a three-way is somehow arranged and NYG goes up, and the Bears go to #6 and then the Cardinals and Bears flip spots. The Bears get MHJ and give up some draft capital from the Giants to get the Cardinals to move into the 6th spot where Monti likes the view. Monti ends up with ~15 picks...8 in the first 3 rounds. It's going to be a complicated first hour of the Draft on April 25th.

If Belichick goes to the Falcons, I think they go for a vet like Cousins, Russell Wilson or Justin Fields instead of trading up unless their scouts believe Jaydon Daniels is the next Lamar Jackson. Chicago GM passed on CJ Stroud last year to do a trade down -- will not pass on a generational QB talent two years in a row. Commanders probably hiring Detroit OC so they are definitely going QB and probably Maye since he is the same size/skill as Jared Goff. Patriots new HC Mayo seems to have "let the cat out of the bag" at his press conference to wanting a QB as well.

The dude is rock. Typical PIT QB material. He'll be back in '24 and save Tomlin's job. If DET OC goes to WAS, and HC Mayo has fallen in love with a QB (Maye?), that means 3 pro-experienced QBs will join the rookies on new teams. Fields, Howell, and Jones will have to find new homes. Fields and Jones offer more than Howell if someone trades for them, IMV. SEA is also flipping HC. Will they move into the top 3 to replace Smith? Interesting that you put Daniels in the same category at Jackson (2018, #32). The two QBs do have similar styles and bios. I could see the old WAS GM jumping on the Daniels bandwagon. I don't know if the new WAS mgt wants a Daniels type as QB. Lots of risk. I could definitely see Jones going to ATL if Belichick signs on as the Falcons new HC. Fields could then end up with TEN or maybe even SEA.

It's going to be a complicated first hour of the Draft on April 25th. Yes, indeed. I have taken a look at a couple of Fans Forum sites (Chicago and New England) and was a little surprised by the findings - The Bears fans (almost everyone posting) wanted Fields traded out (ideally for a high second-rounder) and then take a Quarterback. Being at #1 they can choose whoever they want. The Patriots fans were much less inclined to draft a QB with their first pick and there seemed an almost spread between snapping up Marvin Harrison Jr, or an OT. Their debate, back and forth, mirrored similar to on this board, and it was evident they consider they have a major weakness at Tackle (much more so than the Cardinals). Regarding Mike Onwenu they wanted to re-sign him, but NOT to play at RT (it was evident some didn't trust him to play at Tackle and they consider him just an interior guy). - There was split opinions whether to seek a Trade Down or not. Obviously the fans don't do the drafting, but I thought it was a useful barometer on things. Baring in mind New England have the third pick then their options available at this spot (assuming #1 and #2 go QB) are more limited. Perhaps they will like Jayden Daniels, or perhaps not. The Cardinals are well set #4 and there may be some big surprises to come on Draft Day. - I will certainly keep the Patriots in mind as the team that may not go Quarterback and instead 'stick & pick' their preferred player.

There are several ways it could go. I’m slowing down (to a halt, lately) my mocks and even draft class analysis and switching into free agent mode. Keeping my ears open for trade rumors as well. In the meantime, let the Senior Bowl and combine take place. Once we and others work through free agency, the draft picture should be far more clear.

I just ask you how much better do you think Harrison is over Malik Nabers or Rome Odunze? That question appears unanswered to me. Here are draft years of WR's so you can answer that question. I did not include every WR in each of the first rounds.
2023 Draft Jaxon Smith-Njigba-20 Quentin Johnston-21 Zay Flowers-22 Jordan Addison-23
2022 Draft Drake London-8 Garrett Wilson-10 Chris Olave-11 Jameson Williams-12 Jahan Dotson-16
2021 Draft Ja'Marr Chase-5 Jaylen Waddle-6 DeVonta Smith-10
2020 Draft Henry Ruggs-12 Jerry Jeudy-15 CeeDee Lamb-17 Jalen Reagor-21 Justin Jefferson-22
2019 Draft Marquise(Hollywood) Brown-25 N'Keal Harry-32
2018 Draft D.J. Moore-24 Calvin Ridley-26
2017 Draft Corey Davis-5 Mike Williams-7 John Ross-9
2016 Draft Corey Coleman-15 Will Fuller-21 Josh Doctson-22
2015 Draft Amari Cooper-4 DeVante Parker-14 Nelson Agholor-20
2014 Draft Sammy Watkins-4 Mike Evans-7 Odell Beckham Jr.-12 Brandin Cooks-20 Kelvin Benjamin-28
2013 Draft Tavon Austin-8 DeAndre Hopkins-27 Cordarrelle Patterson-29
2012 Draft Justin Blackmon-5 Michael Floyd-13 Kendall Wright-20
2011 Draft A.J. Green-4 Julio Jones-6 Jonathan Baldwin-26
Could be riskier to take that Alpha at #8 or later...don't you think?
