A QB note in draft. Top 5 Williams, Maye, Nix, Daniels, and Penix…will one be available in the 2nd round? Then moving to later rounds would any of these seem to be worth a pick…Sanders, Beck, McCarthy, Ewers, Pratt, Rattler, Travis, Milton, Uiagalelei, Jefferson, Hartman, Ward or Leary. 2024 has some decent QB talent sprinkled around the draft board. Beck and McCarthy are over 70% completion rate and McCarthy is at 75% completion rate. If Bears pick Williams 1st and Cards get Harrison…do Cards go QB with the Texan’s pick? A great QB#2 or a possible starter can be had to develop if K1 is kept until 2025. Since Uiagalelei entered the transfer portal…he is off the 2024 daft prospect board. Player who coaches left program can enter portal and his coach took the Mich. St. job any at Oregon St. can enter the portal at this point. December 4th is the official start for players entering the transfer portal…so let the shaking up of college rosters start soon. It is funny to see terms like 4th year junior or players in their 7th year of college FB. Covid the gift that keeps giving.

Anybody drinking the Kool-Aid at CB for our second pick if he's available? I am just not as of now. Maybe that changes, but I would need to look into it more. Not sure how he translates but I think DeJean is a baller and great size. Not sure on cover skills, but the kid is a playmaker. I think I like Wiggins over Kool-aid, but it is not official yet.

As mentioned by Cardinalsins QB by the Card OLB group has been okey, but in the 2024 draft I would like to see the Cards DL get larger and longer with some better athletes at DL. DE types I would like to see are Landon Jackson 6’7” 285, Brandon Dorlus 6’3” 290, Shemar Turner 6’4” 290, TJ Sanders 6’5” 298, Darius Robinson 6’5” 296, Justin Eboigbe 6’5” 292, Jordan Burch 6’6” 290 and Keith Randolph 6’5” 305. DT players I like Jer’Zhan Newton 6’2” 295, T’Vandre Sweat 6’4” 362, Ruke Orhorhoro 6’4” 295, McKinnley Jackson 6’2” 325 and Nazir Stackhouse 6’3” 320. Cards have enough of the smaller OLBs that can speed rush or drop in coverage, the big need is to increase size and athleticism on the DL. Nice part about most of the DE options is on pass downs they have the size and strength to move to IDL and still are dynamic enough to put on a solid pass rush. It would not hurt my feelings to see 3 picks used on the above players. Since there are a few decent CBs that can be picked in the 3-5 rounds…I would be patient and see if a player like Tampa, Oregon’s CB Jackson, Tony Grimes, Kris Abrams-Draine, Brian Mayes or Max Melton can be added and maybe add a CB in FA. ILB is a serious issue and my favorite is Payton Wilson 6’4” 238 and he is very productive with almost 100 tackles in 2023 and very smart and a team captain and PFF have him rank #77. As per late pick WRs there are a few sleepers Troy Horton 6’2” 190, Tre Harris 6’2” 205, Roman Wilson 6’0” 192, Jamari Thrash 6’1” 185 who for some sneaking suspicion I think he has a real high chance of staying a Cardinal, Theo Wease 6’2” 192, Ricky Pearsall 6’1” 192, De’Corian Clark 6’3” 215, Oronde Gadsden 6’5” 223, Will Sheppard 6’3” 198, Bryson Nesbit 6’5” 235, and FCS level WR who is a beast Hayden Hatton 6’2” 205 he will be a good NFL WR. Three of these WRs if they come out in 2024 had injuries in 2023 and no stats, but had solid 2022 seasons. One of the WRs listed would be a great addition as a 3rd WR option. Cards still need a top WR early. I project Wilson as a #2 WR. The first two or three rounds have to land starters in 2024, in the 3-5 rounds a starting ILB could be had as well as a CB who can get a decent amount of snaps. DL and WR early and a starter quality IOL player in the 3-4 rounds should be the main focus. IMHO One FA that seems to make sense is pay up for 27 year old Connor Williams since Miami will struggle with cap to extend him. He can play C or G at a top 5 level and would be a great investment he is for sure a 10-12M a year value and even up to 15M per year by Cards would be a good return at a position of need who could start day one. At certain points I have nabbed each one of those DL in different rounds. Is Landon Jackson the Arkansas guy? Sorry, too lazy to look up at the moment, but I feel that might be the guy from there. I do not hate the OSU LB Tommy Eichenberg. Just throw back LB and good leader. I think with three 3rd rounders he could be worthy of one. Texas LB Jaylan Ford is someone I want to learn more about as well. I loved two centers last year, but not sure yes there is anyone I would like as JMS from Minn. Still wish we took him over Ojulari as I am not impressed, but hopefully he lessens the pain of that choice. I do not think he has done much better than Myjai that we got in the third round. Take away whatever attitude issue this staff must have had issue with. While I do not see any star DL, I do see some depth of solid guys that could definitely help us out.

Yep Landon is the larger Dobbs look alike from Arkansas. A couple later round DEs of high interest are Darius Robinson from Missouri and Jordan Burch from Oregon. They are the nice 300 LB range and are at or over 6’5” tall and are solid in run defense. I also like Randolph late he has had a solid college career. I am sick of the un-athletic, shorter or underweight DEs that are on every PS and starters in AZ. If a team can field big athletic DEs the the need for a 350 LB NT is not needed. Longer arms help control or shed blocks.

I did not hate him at ILB and I think the only way he stays on this team past his first contract is if they move him back and see how it works in this defense. I wish we could put Gardeck’s heart and hustle (same with Budda) in some of these guys with the measurables. The guy from Washington who had a brother that I liked a lot a couple years ago intrigues me later as well. Trice maybe?

He has been quiet in a number of games this year in terms of sack production, but he has produced a good amount of pressures

I have seen Cooper Beebe avail in the 4th and I just cannot believe that. I have also seen him not last to the second round. So much can change between now and draft but the wide range of rankings is crazy.

Then you can actually get some game reps in this defense at that spot and see how it works the rest of the year. Could affect the drat strategy. Clearly they have seen enough to know this move has not worked.

Here's a mock where I trade down twice. Both due to QBs being available at that spot. I like Nabers - he has some elite acceleration and route running. Always seems to be ridiculously open. I doubled down at CB since we're a bottom 5 unit with regard to pass defense. While we are already decent at getting pressure against QBs, I took an Edge in Elliss. Renner and the guys at the Stock Exchange seem to love him. Not the best at setting the edge, but a monster when hunting QBs I then took Sweat to put all 360 pounds of him on the IDL. I almost always pick him. Then I took some depth pieces. PFFs #1 center, a RB that reminds me of Maurice Jones Drew in Corum, and an LB in Wilson. Was only 3 rounds. Attachments:

In this Mock - I took the best QB available and traded K1. To be honest, I'm not sure what he would be able to fetch at this point. I figured that the 1st from the Falcons might work out. PFF's mock would let me get more, but I'm not sure if the salary is going to be prohibitive. I figured Atlanta would be a good trade target, or the Steelers. Both need a QB. I almost always take a decent WR if I take a QB. I need him to have some weapons to throw to. Insert Coleman and his ability to box out defenders. He'll be our chain mover. I then took Fuaga - likely one of the best RTs in this draft. Need to keep the QB upright. He was also the best tackle available at this point. Thus the succession plan is in place, and PJ can move back to LT eventually. I then traded down at the beginning of the 2nd round because Penix was available. Simply took the best CB that was remaining on the board. I like Mitchell a ton though. Sweat was available - so I took him. Corum was on the board, but I took Benson this time despite the injury. This would obviously be a bad move if he didn't clear medicals. However, if he does, he's a damn good RB. I then took LB with Trotter, and a guard since we're really bad on the left side. Could affect the drat strategy. We seemed to have plenty on numbers at OLB, but firstly Myjai Sanders left and now the possibility of redeploying Zaven Collins. Also, is Cameron Thomas going to make it at this position? Suddenly OLB is looking like a big need.

One of many needs on this team, need to beef up the interior and they may help those guys on the outside.
