Per 98.7FM Wow that is crazy! Really shocked by this. Coach G must have total faith in K1 if this is the case.

Wonder what Monti was able to get back.
Not sure if I'm happy....I have a bunch of Vikings in Fantasy.

Seeing we got a 6th back and also tossed in a 7th back to them plus Dobbs.
Why would we do that trade?
Why not keep him on the roster for the rest of the season as backup?

Dobbs value is sinking. He is done at ARZ. I'm not shocked that MO got a 6th and sweetened the deal with a cheapy 7th rounder. At least MO got something back for that bad 5th rounder deal. I guess we know now who the backup is next week. Kyler Murray.

Yesterday I said we should trade Dobbs to the Vikings and try to get back the 5th rounder we traded for him. Almost nailed it!
Dobbs isn’t under contract next year so it was just a matter of if we saw him as the future QB2 or not and planned to re-sign him. He wouldn’t have gotten starter money but with the experience he’d want high backup money, and that was doubtful. This season, as 98% of us know, is not about winning in 2023. The positive to me is that this suggests Kyler is truly ready physically AND they may like what they see in Tune. I also am sticking to my suggestion we take one of the late 1st round/ early 2nd round talents available with our 2nd rounder. A good one might fall who would be better than Tune at QB2, and then we’d have two developmental young QBs behind Kyler should he not work out long term or face more injuries.

We will see how he does in the Vikings Offense. Will make an interesting comparison for Petzing.

I would not want us to use our second round pick or even either of our 3rd round picks on a backup QB. If Tune doesn't work out as a backup, we have plenty of cap space to find a backup QB in FA in 2024.

Tune is our current backup long term. He needs the better practice reps and game time experience if Kyler goes out. Dobbs was only under contract the rest of 2023. LONG TERM PLAN!!!

I still say QB2 is the second most important position on an NFL roster, and you want a young guy with QB1 potential behind your starter at all times. Otherwise, if you lose your QB1 through the grueling 17 game season, you are good as done.

Good. I think he will, and that means we got use of Dobbs for the difference between a 5th and 6th rounder. About 30 points on the draft trade value chart, which is next to nothing. Silver lining…that has us in current position for the top pick of each round of the draft. Thanks for your service, Josh!
