For as much praise as Keim gets for his "Keim Time" deals, he should get equal criticism for his "Keim Time" approach to good players who leave because hes cheap.
Tre Boston and Bashaud Breeland are both available. Soon they wont be. We need these guys. Crack open the checkbook and give them what they deserve (you get what you pay for) rather than sign neither and we enter 2018 with zero DB depth. Again.
If you can make Holding #84 the 5th highest paid TE in the NFL, then you damn sure can pay good DB FA's.

I don't know what happened to the guy, but there's a reason a player that his isn't signed yet. This usually has to do with the negotiating. I bet he's asking for more money than what teams are willing to pay, and for a position that has seen a lot less love recently.
When preseason roles around and he's watching them from his couch, he will start coming down in price.

The last one I can think in the same boat was Sam Shields, who is now arguably a top 10 CB in the NFL. Those who get nervous about Tramon Williams being 34 can relax with these youngsters. They want 4 year deals? Awesome. Id love to get them for 4 years. Long term need solved. Thats why I hate Keims approach right now. These guys are not 1 year vets. They are young, border-line stars. The team who "blinks" and pays them will be the smart ones. You win games with players on the field, not the money you keep in the bank. We have 48M in cap space next year and over 100M in 2020. What are you saving for? We can afford David and everyone else. Thats the benefit of having a cheap QB (Rosen)

Its the worst kind of sheep mentality. 3 years ago 25 year old Casey Hayward, awesome CB, had to settle for bargain deal from the Chargers. Bunch of teams were interested (including AZ) but didnt want to pay up. 3 straight Pro Bowls later and hes an elite top 5 CB in the NFL. They just resigned him for big money deservedly. If you have a good player in your office...sign him. Or somebody else will. I could use countless example. Cameron Wake. HOF pass rusher. I remember the day he flew in from Canada to meet with Rod Graves. "Too expensive". OK.

OK. good player is still subject to our opinion. i agree on Tre Boston, if he indeed did fly to Arzona to sign here, why else would he text a veryfied reorter that he's on his way there?, "overpay" the guy... cards really could use him if only to put some depth into the secondary...

Originally drafted by the Panthers -- In last 3 yrs he has played in 47 of 48 games and Bethea will be over 35 yrs old (for a safety that is OLD !!) when season starts in 2019. Cards must find a more permanent replacement and with Boston just turning 26 at the end of the month .... a 3 yr contract of around $13M should be able to get it done and keep him under contract during his peak athletic years.
Boston also graded out well (81.7) by PFF in 2017 and by the same publication ranked 9th amongst all safeties in pass coverage.

I would Keim to at least structure 2 year deals that give us a chance to keep the guy if they have a good year. Out of the Keim Time specials, most of the successful ones leave after a year, which means we are back to the drawing board.
Boston and Breeland would be good on 2-3 year deals.

But dont want to overpay! What is "overpaying" for a 26 year old star? Ive seen 90 year old women at Albertsons who werent this tight over every damn penny. There is nothing to be celebrated that a good FA left because Keim was cheap. Games are won on the field. Would you rather "overpay" for Boston and win games, or save your money, field Brandon Williams, and lose?

Free agent Tre Boston turned down an offer from the Cardinals. Boston visited Arizona last month, but they were only willing to give him the veteran minimum. There hasn't been any market for safeties this offseason with Boston, Kenny Vaccaro, Mike Mitchell, and Eric Reid all still unsigned. Coming off a career year, 25-year-old Boston should resurface before training camp. Source: SiriusXM NFL Jun 22 - 5:12 P

he tried out for the cards because his last team, the team that knew him best, didn't think he was worth keeping around. he turned down the cards offer, and is still unemployed. there is probably a reason for that. look how many unsigned players are at his position. its not like we cant get one of the others if we need them. we cant tell honey badger to talk a walk, that we are done over paying people, then over pay someone else.
