Embarrassing for the Pac12. Heard that Po Dunk University is considering joining the PAC 12. PAC 12's buy-in fee now is a bargain. Po Dunk is real. www.podunkuniversity.com/

My interest in college football gets less and less as the realignment gets completely out of control. I guess it's great if you're a fan of Alabama or one of the other Powerhouse schools. I fear that in the next decade many college universities will decide to drop football entirely.

There goes the "Granddaddy Of Them All" mantra as far as the Rose Bowl is concerned. Rose Bowl matchup twice a month, every month. Wow have times changed. Now, get the hell off my lawn!

I fear that in the next decade many college universities will decide to drop football entirely. Ditto. I rarely pay any attention to college football, but not because sports conferences are consolidating and isolating low-income programs. Alabama is an example of an educational institution that has lost its way and uses its outsized fall season sports events to entertain the masses and make a billion bucks, and to occasionally promote the idea of working on an advance education. When someone mentions the University of Alabama in my region, the first thing that pops into most minds is NCAA football championships. We're doomed when earning NCAA football trophies beats out earning university diplomas. Dropping NCAA sports from some universities just might save those universities in the long run. Not every sport needs to be worshipped. Let's get back to basics and promote intellectualism over athleticism. Harvard was created over 500 years ago on the cornerstone principle of providing constant learning in its highest form. Other excellent institutions get by just fine with no football.

What will happen to Arizona State and Arizona?
I think they should try to get in the Big 12. ASU would be a good football school but adding Arizona could make them the best college basketball conference.

Embarrassing for the Pac12. This takes me back to the old board, where the lady allegedly from USC, would come on to tell us that the Cardinals aren't big enough for Matt Leinart, and the PAC 12 was better than the NFL and all other college conferences. She was clearly in need of help. I have to wonder what her mental state is after hearing that, to improve themselves the Trojans are heading to another conference.

Embarrassing for the Pac12. or, 'Terminal for the Pac12'. I think they should try to get in the Big 12. Likely the Big 12 will come a'callin...

And the downside resulting from all of this. A quote spotted out there, which gives a sense of the potential sadness -
JIM MOORE, TACOMA NEWS TRIBUNE: I can’t control what’s going to happen anyway. I’m not going to sit here and worry about the fate of my alma mater. But does it bother me that Washington State might join the Mountain West? Sure. Will I look forward to a Saturday afternoon in Pullman when the Cougs play San Jose State? Yes, but not as much as if they were playing Arizona State. Thing is, I’m just sick of all of it, first the transfer portal, then the Name, Image and Likeness fiasco, now this, the money grab by schools seeking much greener pastures. Everyone involved, and chiefly the supposed leaders who prompted so much change, they can all kiss my big fat rear end. Thanks for wrecking my favorite sport. I hope you all choke on your greed.

REPORT: Big 12 'Deep In Talks' to Add Six Pac-12 Teams According to CBS Sports, the Big 12 is in "deep talks" with multiple Pac-12 programs as a way to shore up its membership. The conference recently added BYU, Central Florida, Cincinnati and Houston to combat the losses of Texas and Oklahoma, both of whom will leave for the SEC no later than 2025. Earlier this month, it was reported that the Big 12 would reach out to Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah due to geographical location. Now, it could be looking to add both Oregon and Washington as well in hopes of fortifying its status as one of the top conferences moving forward. "Everything is on the table," one Big 12 source told CBS Sports. Both Oregon and Washington reportedly reached out to the Big Ten in hopes of discussing further expansion, but the conference isn't looking to add the two schools as of this time. A source close to the situation tells LonghornsCountry.com that the conference's main goal is to add Notre Dame before extending offers to other programs. www.si.com/college/texas/.amp/news/longhorns-football-conference-realignment-big-12-washington-oregon-arizona-state-utah

Now, it could be looking to add both Oregon and Washington as well in hopes of fortifying its status as one of the top conferences moving forward. If all of that comes to pass then it would be a huge turnaround for the Big 12 who only a short while ago were on the ropes and seemingly fearing for their survival. An eighteen team competition including the additional six from the Pac-12 would cement them as a premier 'tier 2' conference and that should be enough to provide a steady and stable future.

A bit off subject, but maybe some NCAA football programs should go away if they cannot compete for player talent that earns gate receipts and attracts booster funds. Hate to say that, but families and students should NOT be subsidizing the cost of college sports programs through jacked up tuition fees. Many kids have to borrow the money just to enroll. If ten cents of every dollar paid for tuition is re-routed to sports, that's potentially thousands of dollars of additional loan debt a student has to pay back. And not one penny of that sports debt was used for the kid's 'education.'
I'm off my soap box now.
