The second I give in and call him a good trade...boom Fact is...he's not been that much of a force..but he's a hell of a leader So this is all your fault. I shoulda figured… cardinalsins posted this tweet yesterday in another thread and it shows he has been that much of a force. Not in sacks, but in winning the rush against his man on both pass and run plays more often than other players at his position. To make this plot graph simple…being farther right and up is best. Most complete DT out there through the first seven games. To lose him on the field is devastating. I know his leadership off the field will continue and I hope they bond around it and make it their culture.

Looks like the brace on left shoulder dug into turf. That arm has been injured previously for several years. At what point do diminishing improvement to a arm with multiple injuries cause a player to hang up the cleats. One of my favorite players ever (Johnathan Ogden) had the toe that would not heal and ended the career of one of the largest humans to play the game. I am hoping for Watt to recover, but not holding my breath he can return. The numbers he signed for become an enemy against him if team chooses to have doctors be strict on return, but wouldn’t be surprised to see this injury settlement be his last paycheck as a NFL player. Although he is valued, the rest of 2021 will show his value to AZ in the future. Multiple new injuries injuries to previously damaged arm and shoulder are not a weeks to months recovery, but are more months to years recovery playing interior line. FO better be busy figuring how to get some of Watts remaining money off the cap and getting another vet on the line. Surprisingly the CBs are holding up and although Fitts and Turner are on IR the ILBs are playing well even with Simmons banged up. I think Gardeck can play some ILB snaps if called on, I have seen him in coverage at OLB and he was serviceable. Vallejo is playing solid also. I still give SK props for the draft and FA signings this year. Several teams are losing due to injuries and lack of depth. Hudson return in week nine is a must the OL is as thin as it gets now. A vet DL or OL signing is a must at this point.

Watt was freeing up linebackers when it comes to the run game. Taking up multiple blockers .
We’ll see now. This is a huge blow for the run defense

First Maxx Williams and now JJ Watt. - The Cardinals will carry on through, but these are terrible blows for the team and more so for the players themselves.

If nothing else, he held down the fort for us while Chandler was out. It's not just the identity and leadership. He was top-3, and I believe the best in terms of balanced combined pass/run win rate in the entire league. So certainly wasn't washed up and certainly didn't come here for a retirement paycheck like many before him. I want to hope that he somehow recovers and could be ready by the Super Bowl, even on a rotational basis.

Why in the World did they keep him and some of the other starters in that game? I don't let players make my decisions for me if I am coach. Its no about egos or records Only one record matters and that is standings. I don't know. I'm wondering if more of this sort of news is on the way, because these sort of coaching decisions could end up costing us the season. Part of me wonders is Kyler is playing through an injury that's worse than disclosed.

Boy I didn't see this coming 🙄
This is an annual event for him. Oh well he helped us to get to 7-0. I never liked the signing. I stated this would happen. That doesn't make me smart it just always happens with this guy.

We need a pass rush He was playing decent but not lights out we are losing some depth but in the big scheme as long as we don't have more injuries up front I don't think it's that big of a deal. The guy I'm more worried about is Chandler Jones who's gone AWOL since his five sacks week 1. I don't know how he feels after dealing with covid that affects everyone differently obviously you can't expect five sacks every game but we need him to just be him!
