The biggest fear I had for him came true
I CAN'T BELEIVE IT.
I am bummed out!
He is so good but so fragile

Hopefully he will restructure that new deal and give us some cap room to bring in someone.

This is the tough part relying on older players. He needed to be on a snap count and wasn’t. You can say because other players were not available it was nessessary to keep his snaps per game high. Also, players like him will not take themselves out…the coaches needed to be proactive in managing his snaps.
I liked his signing even with the injury risks. A quick look at his career shows the seasons where he adheared to a snap count he had career highs. Availablity is the greatest player quality, now his availablity is done, maybe his leadership can show up in mentoring the younger players.
Hope he heals well from the surgery and has another year or two left. He is always a good watch and I look forward to his comments. Oddly the Ertz signing is good timing for a lift from what could be a significant team loss.
JJ has had a positive impact on team and hope he heals up. Thanks JJ for the positive impact.

Great Post The season is just too long at 17 games plus preseason camp etc I liked the signing but hated the money. It was way over done as I researched his injury history I feared this would happen. You are right about the snap counts. Cards coaches got greedy. Simmons has a bad shoulder too. I worry about him He hits you hard on a tackle. JJ Watt gave us his best here But you know he is a coach too. Now off the field he will be a help Look at the action Michael Dogbe has gotten. He and others will need to step up

Normally, I would say I told you so as I anticipated him getting injured. But I won't say that because what he brought to the team in terms of leadership and setting the tone was worth it. He helped create an identity for this defense and infused a sense of confidence in them. As a result, I think the defense is going to continue to fly. He really exceeded my expectations as to what he brought to this team. He is good guy and a great leader. And he can still contribute to this team in terms of being a leader and mentor to the defense. His influence has been awesome.
I really feel bad for him. He came here to win. He plays with a warrior's spirit and is here for the right reasons. That guy has nothing but winning and trying to bring a championship here. I love that about. He will be back next season and the Superbowl is in Phoenix next season. We will add additional talent to the defense and next year's 'D' will be hall of fame quality. Hopefully Keim can bring in another stud on defense.

Man.
This sucks.
Despite the lack of sacks, his efficiency numbers were pretty good. He was making an impact in our games. Sadly, we won't see him again until next year.
That said, this cements my point that we will be drafting a person on the DL early next year. Even if Watt made it through the season, he isn't getting younger.
