This might be my first thread on the new board. Sorry but I just had to vent. If anyone thinks this it out of line, feel free to delete because the therapeutic element of it will be achieved after I finish typing.
Anyway, I get in my car to head to work this morning, the radio is tuned to 98.7, leftover from my drive home yesterday. Wolfley is puking out a full-throated defense of the play it safe strategy employed by Wilks / McCoy at the end that led to Grandpa missing the long FG. "You've got a rookie QB," blah blah, all of the usual pablum one hears in such a situation. The strategy was brilliant, says Wolfley. Dawson makes that FG and no one's talking about it, says Wolfley. Well no kidding, genius! That's a big IF there, sport! IF DAWSON MAKES THE FIELD GOAL! Put it this way, cheek kisser Wolfley.... if Rosen ends up throwing an INT and say Seattle takes over at the 20 with a minute plus left, they march down the field a bit and Fat Bastard kicks exactly the same FG he made yesterday, I'd say the vast majority of Cardinal fans would be OK with Wilks stepping up and saying "hey we were still a ways out, we had to get closer and try to put the game away". Heck, I'm here after a loss to 0-4 and I feel better than I have after any of the other losses because Rosen. Wilks / McCoy nursed a tie and lost.
As a general rule, I hate people who live their lives in a state of full pragmatism, with never a hint of principle. The boss, the co-worker, the friend, whatever, who never act on principle and will always just say whatever gives them the most comfort and the most security in their own little world. Go along to get along, don't ruffle any feathers! Wolfley is that guy. He would say the strategy was the best he'd ever seen in any game, bar none, Super Bowls included, if it would score him a few pragmatism points and maybe get a contract extension.
He is a boil on the ass of decent color commentary / radio commentary and a lancing of that festering boil is long overdue. How Dave Pasch (who I like) puts up with him is beyond me.
Rant over.
P.S. - Even if Grandpa makes the FG Seattle still has a minute plus to drive and put Fat Bastard into position to tie it. So Wolfley's premise isn't even necessarily true.

Who is fat Bastard? Lol Janikowski. He looks a lot like the Fat Bastard character from the Austin Powers movies.

Yup... janikowski, who looks like a lineman put us away after missing two kicks on the day. Phil also missed two and he couldn't make one under pressure. The majority of the board wanted McCrane from preseason and we got Phil... looks like the staff is making good decisions.

I cant listen to Wolfley. He's a caricature of himself. A big blowhard who makes the show about himself. I like his sidekick though.
The guy I particularly don't like is Dan Bickley. He covers sports like it's his first time doing so. He's like the teenager who's hovering over his first girl naked on the bed. Clueless and about to blow real quick. Dan actually thought the Cardinals were a playoff team based on "rave reviews from training camp". In other words he got mesmerized by the speech patterns of Wilks.

Hes incredibly annoying when going on his rants and dumb haikus. However, when hes speaking seriously from the perspective of a player in the lockeroom, thats when I like him.
Speaking of local sports heads: I cannot stand Gambo. He plays up his idiot New York accent shtick to the 10th degree. Ive met him in person. He has a slight accent. But on the Radio he trys very very hard to be New Yorkey as possible, and its not funny.

For me, Bickley has settled in as more or less a harmless hack. He throws up a few blades of grass, sees where the wind blows and heads right there. His give and take on Max Hall / Derek Anderson saga back in 2010 was awesome hack material. Classic.
What annoys me the most about Bickley is his love for crapping on the local fan base. Any chance he gets he pretends that Arizona fans are disloyal yokels who will boo at the first sign of bad things. That's fine, but inherent in his schtick is the idea that fans in other cities are not essentially the same. I would love to listen to Pittsburgh sports radio today, they're 1-2-1, defense is garbage, Bell is out, whatever. I guarantee that the fans are screaming that the world is over, booing in the stadium last night, if the Steelers get to 2-8-1 there will be a lot of empty seats in Heinz Ketchup Stadium for hacks like Bickley to chew on while he oohs and aaahs about how great fans in other cities are. Plus, why on earth does a groundbreaking journalist like Bickley stick around in such a backwater hellhole? Step up, man, head to one of those big boy cities and ply your trade! He's a lot like Wolfley, content to play it safe.

I've probably heard that clown maybe 20 times since he's been here and I'm not surprised at all with what you wrote. The obnoxious New Yawk stuff is clearly taking some effort. He's probably enough of a clown to think it makes him look smarter, being that he's a New Yawker and all.

If you ever want to aggravate him do what others have done: made fun of his relationship to his 20 something year old wife.

Gambo has super deep phx Suns sources, so his time to shine is during the NBA draft. The rest of the year hes garbage

Seems that every NFL town with a loser team has an irritating sports mouth or two. It's not like these guys and gals are dishonest. The endless team coddling just grates on the nerves along with the endless losing.

I actually like Gambo.
Sure, he's a character but it's a funny character. He's funny without trying too hard to be funny.
I can't stand Wolfely or B-train.
I like Doug. He's like me. We're both like, "look, I know I have no professional experience in football and that there are a lot more people on the sideline who have a lot more experience than I do. That being said, THAT WAS THE WORST PLAY CALL, YOU CAN' T MAKE THAT CALL."
