The best NFL football game announcers talk to their listeners emotions, play by play. Listeners have a vicarious experience, like they are right there on the field with their favorite players! Analysts are smart guys, but can be unfunny and a bit boring when the team is struggling.

Being from the outside looking in, the sports media in Arizona is very timid. It seems nobody wants to ask the hard hitting questions and nobody wants to express how the fans are feeling.
Jurecki is the one who has got me at the moment. Before being a company man who actually offered opinions. Now he is the full blown company man. It still makes me chuckle, when he keeps saying Bradon Williams is a top 3 ST player, I present stats to prove otherwise, I ask him what plays stand out where Williams looks this ST stud (was it the penalty on Sunday that made him go wow?) and he basically brushes it off saying I don't know what I'm talking about.
Ps. Lisa Matthews I have alot of time for though, she was brilliant when the team came to London.

I actually like Gambo. Sure, he's a character but it's a funny character. He's funny without trying too hard to be funny. I can't stand Wolfely or B-train. I like Doug. He's like me. We're both like, "look, I know I have no professional experience in football and that there are a lot more people on the sideline who have a lot more experience than I do. That being said, THAT WAS THE WORST PLAY CALL, YOU CAN' T MAKE THAT CALL." Does B-Train exist anymore? He was the WORST by far. offered nothing in terms of player insight, full of clichés, and couldn't speak English. "I'm too blessed to be stressed"

That's sad to hear about Jurecki, the few times that I've caught him he always had a lot of substance. The anti-Wolfley if you will. Somebody told me Bickley ran him off their show at the house organ station (no idea if true), so maybe he's decided to just lay low and read from the index card of allowable opinions.

Wolf is a company man who is afraid to bite the hand that feeds him.

Wolf- I don't mind him. I find him funny and entertaining, he gets the rating to stay on air so... Doug- Like him too. A good contrast to Wolf. I wonder how their conversation is off-air.
Bickley- can't stand him, but the show is still good. I use to joke about him to coworkers when he was doing the radio and newspaper, "he has a face for the radio and a voice for the newspaper" Vinny- don't really care about him. Seems to just go along with Bickley. Makes funny faces during interviews that kinda creep me out.
Gambo- He has good sources, always interesting how he has an inside scoops on things. Oh, and Funny as hell when he goes on his rants. Burns- Don't hate him, don't like him. A good contrast to Gambo
The shows are overall good enough to keep me listening when I don't feel like listening to Amazon Music. Mid morning is much more entertaining without B-train and Jerecki. Jerecki has great analysis but pretty bland otherwise. I actually enjoyed him and Bickley when they were teamed up.
Anyway, Wolf rubs some people the wrong way, but he has his way of doing things, seems to be working since he's carried his career this far.

Wolf is a company man who is afraid to bite the hand that feeds him. Sad but true and also true for most "journalists" that cover the NFL, especially if their company has been granted broadcasting rights.

Hilarious post.
Wolfley has always...ALWAYS supported the status quo of the organization. He supported Whiz when he was failing. Supported Clancy when his defense was terrible. I think he even thought Max Hall could be Drew Brees!
If Bidwill hired Don Mattingly to run the front office, be head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and special teams coach--HE would somehow spin it to being the greatest hire of all time AND remind us that he played in the league, we didn't, so he KNOWS the "process" will work.

Wolfley is an employee of the Cardinals. It's his job to make the Cardinals sound good, literally. He's listed right on their website as an employee. And I kinda like his personality, most sports broadcasters sound very similar. At least he's unique, has some fire, and personality. IDK, I personally think we could do much worse.

There's a lot worse out there. As I recall, Wolfley talks strictly football and not social issues. I can't watch Sunday Night Football because if a social issue comes up Collinsworth will take the most cowardly stance on it. And don't forget Bob Costas and his half time gun speech. Like many of you, I worked a long week and want to enjoy a Cards game and forget about society's problems. So Wolf gets a solid "B" from me on that basis alone. He also seems fairly knowledgeable and isn't like a lot of the lazy commentators who gush over whichever team happens to be winning.

I'm well aware of that, doesn't change a thing.
