Third down and two in the most critical drive of the game. You call a counter to your rookie running back with your star RB on the bench. Sorry this is what we have with coaching on this team. Abysmal.
Rosen looked cool , calm and poised. The outcome may not have been what we want but I like what we see in this kid and need to be moving forward with him. Not a fair situation for him to start his career but he's mentally very strong and this will not affect him.
Our run defense this year is horrid. Whether it's the scheme or the personnel it's brutal. Mostly we are playing a 4-2-5 scheme with the "best 11 guys on the field".
No Dbuc that I can notice and barely and Reddick. What a waste of first round picks.
I cant figure out how to grade Nkemdeche. He's part of a brutal run defense and he's right there in the middle but I've seen strides made and can say he has improved. That takes a lot to type that because he's sucked up the joint for two years.
Buddha Baker is an MVP type stud. They have him playing down in the box a lot. Says a lot about what he can do. He's HB without all the drama.
Jamar Nelson still sucks and was replaced at times by Ben Benwikere. I would keep Nelson on the bench. Too slow for this league. Did we really think we would improve with the Brown's deadwood?
Brandon Williams caught a kickoff in the end zone and took a knee. Totally justifies the third round we took him in.
We have Gerald Hodges and Josh Bynes as our linebackers . Two guys off the scrap heap of the NFL. That usually doesn't produce a good result.
Patrick Peterson may be better then ever in this zone defense. This guy is a stud and can be counted on like no other.
Fitz produced less then 10 yards of receiving for the first time in ten years. He is slowed by his hamstring. The fox announcers never mentioned that. Do your homework guys. (otherwise they were good unlike the B team we usually get)
Say what you want about Gresham but he brings some attitude to the table and no surprise that our run game got going a bit. I thought DJ "broke out" to some degree in this game. But watching him I still ask myself "did we really need to sign him to a big deal?" We may have gotten him a lot cheaper by the end of the year. His numbers are not that good.
John Wetzel has locked up the RT position. he did a pretty good job against Mack yesterday and before the game he was ranked number one in the NFL with only allowing one pressure. His overall PFF is 68 which ranks 23rd. Better then Andre Smith by a mile.
I think our line is good enough to protect Josh Rosen. Lets see what the kid brings to the table and call this a growing year. We are not going anywhere. In order to meet my prediction of 7-9 for this team we have to go 7-6 the rest of the way. Not going to happen but at least we can enjoy watching Rosen.
Chad Williams caught one pass. My belief is this guy cant create separation. I doubt he could against Jamar Nelson. He's a bust.

Jamar Taylor, but yeah he sucks which brings me to JJ Nelson, why on earth is this pipsqueak occupying a precious roster spot? On the INT I saw zero effort to get to the ball and break it up. Maybe you folks who saw the replays saw something different. If he's the designated deep threat then I don't really see the point in fretting about Wilks, McCoy, Holcomb, etc. quite so much.

I think you’re spot on.
Linebackers are practice squad material WR really the same.
I think our line is good enough to Rosen some good experience so we can properly make the right top 5 or 10 pick
But then we have Keim picking. I was his biggest fan but all of his picks are marginal at best.
Again w chase Edmonds I think we will have another small school guy not able to produce like we need. It’s getting old now after 5-6 years of the same drafts.
But like it has been said. Now we have Rosen to watch grow which he will and it will be fun and painful but good . Use this year wisely SK

I know you've watched this team closely like I have the past couple of years. Do you notice when JJ does indeed have some separation he never outruns anyone? he has good 40 speed on the track but on the football field he's a step slower. JJ only made the team because we have nobody. Years of poor drafting has left the cupboard bare around here. We have little at WR, linebacker and still no decent CB to compliment PP.

I looked like JJ elected to avoid contact on that play because he would have got blown up. He chickened out.

Use this year wisely SK I think there are a lot of things to pick on before going after Chase. David hasn’t produced this year either. That 3rd down mishap was not Chase’s fault and David doesnt get the first down either. The play call is what is to blame. You need David in there, but this team has a plethora of issues to be upset about before worrying about our 4th round pick.

One of the few times Reddick was in he cost them on a key 3rd down with an offside.
I don't fault the D but the turnovers on offense.
They picked up Hodges last week to start in place of Reddick.

Yards=32nd (190)
Passing Yards =32nd (132)
Rushing Yards=32nd (58)

And getting separation leads to actually catching the thing, which is probably a 50-50 bet. He's a man without a country, built for a team that needed him to run fast, create separation AND catch the ball and I think he has one of those skills.

Maybe DJ would have had a little more burst off the hand off but I didn't like the obvious run or the play call with the backup RB after a 2 minute warning.

the OL as a whole has done very well thus far. They deserve 0% of the blame for this offense.
Wetzel deserves the starting RT job. This reminds me of a few years ago when Bobby Massie got suspended and his replacement at RT (I forget who) did a good job, but Massie still got his RT job back. That was wrong

He's one of the best running backs picking up the blitz and he's also one of the best pass catching backs in the league. With Fitz hampered he might well be the best pass catching option on our team. He has to be in with Rosen in that situation. Rosen was put in to win the game as a rookie, cold off the bench. He deserved to have the best personal on the field and in this case DJ isn't just miles better than Edmunds and has experience.
