Seriously.
The rule starts with “when tackling the quarterback.....”
In both cases, neither Golden or RN we’re actively trying to tackle Trubinski but we’re pushed into him and he went to the ground. I hate this sissyfied version of the NFL and these calls changed the outcome of our game. It’s a damaged product now for sure.

The NFL has gone soft, just like Clay Matthews said today after he was called for his third ridiculous roughing call in three games. The best sacks are not sacks anymore.

Defenders going all out to get passed the OL are just supposed to stop and ask the QB if it’s ok to tackle him? How do you go from balls to the wall to idle that quickly.
“Excuse me Mr Trubinsky but would you mind it terribly if I were to tackle you for a slight loss? My defensive coordinator would be most appreciative. I’ll try and be gentle and as a suggestion, you may want to just lay down and let me gently caress your cheek to mark you down. Would that be acceptable good sir?”

While I will agree the rule is not right atm, I have to disagree about Matthews, he does play a bit dirty when it's to his advantage.

When majority of the QB’s will run out of the pocket now, they just can stop to worry about tackling them.

Tackling the QB is not roughing when the official already threw his flag for offensive holding.

NFL started going soft 15 years ago. That's why over the last 5 years or so their ratings have steadily gone down each year. It's a cream puff league totally driven by money. Can't let their stars get hurt. I don't watch near as much pro football as I used to. Would rather watch the college game now.

You spend the whole game trying to get by those guys and when you do your supposed to pull back? Ridiculous.

A couple of things that really softened up the league involved the Pats and both happened in the 2001 playoffs. The horrible tuck rule call against Oakland. That was followed by the Pats DB's mugging the Ram's recievers in the SB. The league completely changed the contact rules for CB after that SB. It's been completely downhill ever since. Most of what we see lately is all about liability and protecting the owners investment in star QB's. It's not going to get better anytime soon.

Got to agree. While I fully understand the NFL trying to reduce the injury's to the leagues star QBs, or any QB for that matter. After all who wants to see a bunch of backups.
However they have gone too far. Asking a player to some how pull up in literally a nano second, or to somehow stop his body from forward momentum from making contact....that is not only impossible at times, but unreasonable.....
I'm sure the refs are trying to do what the rules dictate, so I don't blame them.
Give the refs the discretion as to what is intentional and what's not. It won't be perfect, but I think it would be better than what it is now.

I'm not in disagreemwnt with yoyr stance Boomer. I agree with it. We experienced it full force today on Golden and Nkemdiche's RP calls. I just disagree about Matthews. Tre Boston's call was borderline as well. True Tre could've let the Receiver run into him.....or in the strange world of NFL rules committee Tre should've caught the Bears Receiver and Gently lowered him to the ground...…

There was a tackle in the GB WASH game where Clay Matthews tackled a QB below the neck but rolled on his head. NFL games come down to luck.

If the NFL wants to solve this issue it's simple make the penalties of roughing and illegal hits reviewable and stop making every scoring play and turnover reviewed. If it is clearly a bad call a team can challenge but some of these roughness calls wioukd get overturned I'm certain

New information out on what is considered a way to sack the QB and avoid a RTP personal foul:
