I mean, we didn't have much trouble finding McCrane, right? He was undrafted. If we need a new kicker next summer, I'm not really worried about that...
Anyways, I don't think the Cardinals have any chance at the playoffs because the NFC is far too loaded. However, we absolutely have a legitimate shot at 2nd in the division.

McCrane has a try out with the Jets. I don't think we will ever see him again kicking for the Cards. I have to say, I'm having night mares about this already. Dawson may do just fine this year, but he can't kick forever. We are rebuilding. Why not do it with a young kicker that did everything right. And....some say....well he had no pressure. The guy is a rookie....he is trying to make the team, or really any team. Maybe it was not pressure to win a game, but pressure to make a decent living. To me, that's a lot of pressure. Thats my take...Phil probably will do just fine this year...but its next year and the years after i`m worried about

The NFC is loaded ? Where ? You have the Vikings, Saints, Falcons, GB and maybe the Rams. Each and every one of those teams is flawed. Rams went from rags to riches in 1 year. Who knows what your going to get with that team this year. GB is still looking for a defense. Falcons are a hit and miss. Saints and Minny are the class of the NFC. After that is a total scramble.
Do I think the Cards will make the playoffs this year ? No. Way to many holes. What little chance we have is keeping Bradford up right for 16 games. Our QWR room is a joke. Who knows what were going to get out of our defense. Yea I know they got all those turn overs in pre season. They were all against back up QB's. Teams ran on the D at will. Our whole O line could wind up on IR. We haven't drafted well the last 3 years or so. I know every team has questions marks, but ours has them at just about every position on the team. So for me this is a rebuilding year, and set out sights on either 19 or 20 to make noise in the NFC. More like 20. Rosen will have at least a year of starting experience.

Yes, the NFC is loaded. You have the reigning Champs in Philadelphia (who you didn't even mention lmao, so that shows your credibility I guess). You have a team who may have the best roster on paper in the league in Minnesota. You have Atlanta and New Orleans who are perennial contenders and still loaded. You have the Rams who made a ton of huge moves and have a star-studded team. Easily have Superbowl potential. Then there's Green Bay who is always a factor with Rodgers. So there's 6 powerhouses right off the bat. Carolina is good every other year it seems. So when Dallas is the 8th best team in the conference, it's loaded and you're delusional if you think it isn't. (Not even counting teams like San Fran and the Giants who should show a lot of improvement, and even the Bears could.) There's not really a cake walk team in the entire conference except maybe Tampa Bay and Detroit. I'd say aside from those 2, every other team is competitive. Way tougher than the AFC currently.

Not a fan of Bradford or a dink and dunk O although that's Bradfords MO. I think it will limit space for DJ and Fitz in the underneath passing game. Changing the D is going to be interesting. It looks like Reddick is the odd man out. He looked awful in preseason and was relegated to playing with the second and thirds just to get reps. He was definitely not good last year and it looks like the change isn't helping him. On the plus side DBuck looked great in limited action. I expect nothing from Golden. If he gets healthy and gets his first step back I can see him in third down passing situations. The D, which the team is depending on looks like a great ball hawking D but I expect a big step back before the new system works with the current roster. The backside of our D looks much better than it has in years. The front 7 with a couple of exceptions looks very mediocre.
It's tough to win football games without big plays that create scoring opportunities and radically changes field position. The early part of the season is mostly teams figuring out who they are. I expect we won't see real separation until at least game 4. Good learning year for Rosen and Wilkes. 8 or 9 wins would be fantastic. I expect 6 to 8 wins. It wouldn't shock me if in year 1 we have a 4 or 5 win season. I don't think our division is that good besides the Rams so I think we have at least 2 home wins in the division.

WE have arguably the worst set of WR's in the NFL. We have an injury prone QB who has never had more then 8 wins before. our Oline has been swiss cheese the past few years. All very bad signs heading into the season.
On the positive side we have a new OC who has yet to really unleash his playbook. We have perhaps the number one weapon in the NFL outside of the QB position in DJ. Our Oline has been revamped somewhat and I'm expecting an all pro season from Iuapati. Maybe someone will step up in the WR group besides Larry. I do suspect we should be relatively easy to defend since Bradford has never really been a long ball type guy and with his injury situation they will want to get the ball out quickly. If Bradford get hurt (more like when he does) it will be really cool to see Rosen step in. He's got the pedigree to be very good although that will be a learning curve.
Our D looks better then average. Probably top 10 in the NFL. So that gives us hope.
the biggest wild factor is our new coaching staff. I'm excited to see how they game plan.
All in all it's going to be around a 7-9 season.

Let's play the games first. That's why they play them. Nobody has won anything, and no team is guaranteed to do anything. Every year people talk about the year before to determine who will win the current year and every year not many predictions go as planned. So many paper champions. For all we know the Cards could end up 10-6 and win the division.

Pretty nice article in todays NY Times about the NFC West. I pasted the portion on the Cardinals and a link to the article which has a semi-breakdown on all 4 teams. "The N.F.L.’s Most Interesting Division? The N.F.C. West" www.nytimes.com/2018/09/05/sports/rams-49ers-nfc-west-seahawks-cardinals.html?rref=collection%2Fsectioncollection%2Fsports&action=click&contentCollection=sports®ion=rank&module=package&version=highlights&contentPlacement=8&pgtype=sectionfront"Arizona Cardinals: Top Talent, but No Depth Navigating this unfamiliar terrain — chasing, instead of leading, the N.F.C. West — also applies to the Cardinals, who had finished first or second for three straight years until last season. Whether they return to the upper tier of the division depends on the learning curve of quarterback Josh Rosen, who, on the night Arizona traded up to draft him at No. 10, declared that the nine teams bypassing him had made a mistake. If the Cardinals have, indeed, landed their long-term quarterback, Rosen’s rookie deal should allow them to allocate the money saved into sculpting a team around him. At present, though, Arizona has a new coach, Steve Wilks, and an abundance of foundational players, from cornerback Patrick Peterson to defensive end Chandler Jones to running back David Johnson, as well as the all-time great receiver Larry Fitzgerald, but the least depth in the division. Based on the Cardinals’ prospects and Sam Bradford’s history of fragility, it seems likely that Rosen will start at some point this season. However boundless the anticipation for his debut, it hardly compares to the mania in San Francisco surrounding Jimmy Garoppolo, who has won all seven N.F.L. starts, including five last season."

It's a very interesting division for sure because you basically have no idea what to expect from 3 of the teams. Also, the NFC West and NFC South are the only 2 divisions in football where every single team has made it to a Super Bowl within the last 16 years. That's pretty cool.

I agree with Kay Adams, Good Morning Football on NFL network.......that the Cards will be the team that surprises and wins the division. My prediction is conditioned on Bradford (and Johnson) playing throughout for a change. He's played as well as anyone when he's in there and if he manages to get past the injury bug then that guy could make us one of the most competitive offenses in the NFL. I like what I saw from this team during preseason.
