I’m happy Golden and Gresham were able to come off PUP, especially Golden. I hope he can return to the player he was becoming pre-injury. Gresham is an awful cap hit we couldn’t cut for dead money reasons. I expect he’s gone after this year, and we kept a young TE who Gresham spoke well of who might be able to replace him in 2019.
The cuts and signings make one thing clear. This team is being built for 2019 and beyond. For Rosen.
-We kept a third QB in Glennon because he is then locked up in 2019, when we clear cap by letting Bradford move on. Bradford is here to ease in and mentor Rosen.
-We kept a bunch of young DBs for Wilks to try and develop. Guys like Bethea are likely just here similar to Bradford...ease in and mentor. Wilks is known for coaching up DB talent...let’s see what he can do, even with Williams (though his job is likely not very secure).
-We kept and brought in a bunch of Olinemen to develop as well. Guys like Cunningham who can be groomed to replace Smith. Cutting bait on Boehm and Holden, who they did not see potential in.
-cuts to WRs Butler and Little show they don’t see enough to develop for the future to justify the cap, just to have a vet on the team. Larry is the mentor here, obviously.
Next year, I expect vets like Bradford, Bethea, Gresham, Dawson, etc to be gone to expand our cap to address needs as they emerge through this season of new coaches, schemes and players. Draft and free agency will be heavy on both lines and WR/TE.
Only move that doesn’t fit clearing cap and going with promising youth is keeping Dawson, but they must have their reasons.

I would not expect much from Golden for at least half a season. It takes time to trust the new ACL.
I thought it was a misprint when I saw what Gresham signed for here.

Gresham may be a pleasant surprise. Won't have to block as much and should be a nice target for Bradford. We should hear less "false start #84" as he was always trying to get a jump on his blocking assignment so he could get out into his passing lane. Golden won't be a factor for awhile even though I'd love to see him pick up where he left off before the injury. Our WR core has me concerned.

Makes you wonder why they kept Dawson. McCrane is young and better suited for 2019 and beyond.

If so he's the one that will replace Dawson if Dawson falters this season. And then have a real shoy at being next years Kicker. EDIT: just looked he's not on the PSquad as of this time.

And that's why I said "did bounce in" ie = good. Maybe he'll "bounce in" later this season too?
