The question is, do you think he could be effective again as a starter, an interim QB or QB coach?

Doesn't sound like he ever legitimately intended to try and come back as a player. More like a friendly text saying he believes that he could.
Normally, I would say no chance he could succeed, but I learned a long time ago not to doubt Kurt Warner. He could probably still be an effective QB, but might be a problem the first time he took a hit. He was never a guy that relied on mobility to begin with, so he wouldn't have to worry about that, but still not sure it would be the best idea.
Overall, I hope it doesn't happen because the Cardinals would likely not pursue him and I don't want to see him playing for someone else.

I love Kurt but IMO coming back would not be a good idea. I'm still mad about the hit he took in the Saints game. IMO if not for that he would have at least played one more year.

he did legit want to. talked it over with his wife and everything and was even talking to a team before they signed someone else. it was more than just a text. and yes I think he would be a great mentor / coach. he has the credentials, records, mvp, sb ring etc that the qbs are going to listen to him. he has the talent, the smarts, and even good business sense. he could be the rookies from making a lot of mistakes. yeah they may think hes an old man, but he's an old man in the hof and can relate to people. he's respectful and would demand respect. he would solve problems not cause them with an attitude or ego. and he would give josh some perspective. fell to #10? boo hoo. try undrafed and still did it the right way. heck even when he made it to the nfl they sent him to Europe to play for the Barcelona dragons. if you know how good you are and put the effort in you will make it, no excuses or grudges needed. you don't need baggage holding you back when you are trying to move forward. put all your energy into improving. put your energy and focus on your future not your past. people tend to head tward where they are looking. if you're looking back that's where you are gonna find yourself and wonder how you got there.

8 yrs is a looong time to be out of the game...I could see him as a #3 qb ala steve deberg with falcons. would make an amazing story: Bradford goes down in rams game, cards sign warner, glennon plays horrible, rosen comes on but warner bails him out a few times as hart did with lomax, cards make superbowl, warner comes in for second half and leads cards to first Lombardi trophy.

Oh brother. I think Kurt would make a pretty dang good coach. Maybe he should try looking into that instead of being an attention whore.

in 2018...I dont see it.
In 2014, when Palmer and Stanton went down and we were heading into the playoffs with Lindley....I 100% think Warner could have come back and taken us to the Superbowl. Call me crazy...but we knew Stanton was done with 2+ weeks before our playoff game. If BA would have signed off on it and gotten Kurt into practice right away, and created a game plan that played to his strengths....I think we would have shocked the world in those playoffs. Kurt is just so deadly in the playoffs, one of the top 5 playoff QB's of all time. He gets the ball out so quick, and if you blitz him you are dead.
We lost to the Panthers 27-16 with Ryan Lindley playing literally the worst game ever recorded in the playoffs (76 yards of offense, 2 picks in the redzone). There is no way Kurt Warner could have done any worse, and IMO I think he would have shredded the Panthers.
That was his chance to come back. Now...not so much.

Oh brother. I think Kurt would make a pretty dang good coach. Maybe he should try looking into that instead of being an attention whore. Do come to his defense, He was sitting in the booth at a St. Louis Baseball game, and the announcer asked him "Do you feel like you could still play". He said "Yea I think I could, in fact I was actually seriously thinking about it recently. Ive been throwing the ball, and I feel great. I told my wife and she said it would be a great story and I should go for it. So I called a friend of mine with a team and said, Hey if you guys end up needing a QB Im willing to give it a shot. It was the AZ media that turned it into "Kurt Warner wants to play for the Cards right now"...on a slow news day. If we wanted attention, he would have actually tried to make a comeback...not just mentioned it offhand.

A few years late. Why not sooner? And he never said it was for the Cardinals (Eagles?)

Is it Aprit 1st or something? This feels like a bad joke. I love Kurt, but come on. I seriously doubt he'd be able to start on any team in the league for much longer than Bradford, due to injuries concerns. He guy is in his late 40's. I'm not doubting his skill, I've seen incredibly athletic things accomplished by 50 year olds.
If he does come back, it better be for close to minimum and as a Player coach. Plus, if he signs on a team other than the cards or rams I'd think he'd be tarnishing his legacy.

Agree with cardsfan88 - we should have had him back in the '14 playoffs, not now. I'll always wonder what he could have done with that team and it would have been absolutely amazeballs if it would have happened and we made a Super Bowl run!
If he DOES come back, someone get this man some roids and growth hormo...err, I mean vitamins!
