No, he's not ready to play. I haven't followed the story closely, don't know Warner's motivations, but it's absurd to suggest he would still play. Could he? Sure, he could suit up and drag himself out there. And then go on to embarrass himself, or suffer a serious injury.
A little bit of offseason candy for everyone to chew on while we wait for training camp to open.

I think it is more good PR for his media career with a dash of having an itch to try out a training camp one more time.

He’s 46 so no. I think this was during his interviews for MNF. Maybe just trying to garner some publicity.

I think he could throw well but the taking hits, recovery would be tough. He needs to stay retired while he's still ok. He just got a gold jacket anyways so go out on top.

Kurt's ego apparently is pretty huge still. What a silly idea.

Kurt's ego apparently is pretty huge still. What a silly idea. He just misses being talked about......give us old people a break It`s better that Kaep`s way of drawing attention to himself...IMO anyway He is probably sitting back in wonderment ,laughing about how much mileage he got out of his comment......its the offseason ....people bite on anything

I never got any huge ego vibe from Warner. In fact, quite the opposite. He was one of the good ones.

Just for discussion's sake, what would be the board's reaction if the Cards signed him and released Glennon?

personally I wouldn't like it because I like him. he seems like a genuinely good guy. I think he is wearing rose tinted glasses. he didn't retire because he wasn't good enough any more, he retired because he was taking a lot of big shots and didn't want to damage his body so bad he would be suffering when he got old. and that was his younger body. tryst me i'm mid 50. when I was young I just bounced right back up after taking a fall, it was no problem. now I kindda splat not bounce and I can feel it the next day. I don't want his old age to just be constant doctors visits and pain pills. I want him to be able to go out run around and play with his grand kids. I want him to enjoy life not endure it. I would rather him watch football from the side lines than watch life and grand kids happening from the side lines. the reason he feels so good now is he got out when he did, if he had played a few more years his body probably wouldn't be feeling great today. ask someone who played as long as they could like farve about all the injuries coming back to haunt old bodies and joints.
I think he could still be an above average quarter back I just don't think its worth the price for him personally to pile up more injuries. and I sont want him in uniform holding a clipboard like he's some kids inferior side kick, and all the quarterbacks are kids compared to kurt. that's disrespectful and I respect the hell outta kurt. he's was a great player and is still a great person. could he play and win, yes. should he no. just because he could do something does not mean he should. just because I could get hit by a train does not mean I should do it. and getting hit by some linemen and linebackers probably feels like getting hit by a train. heck I remember aeneas Williams on the blitzes. even some of the little guys in the nfl can deliver some hits that probably feel like getting hit by a train.

Just for discussion's sake, what would be the board's reaction if the Cards signed him and released Glennon? I would react as follows: 1. He's broke 2. He's insane 3. He won't make it out of training camp without getting injured. 4. If he somehow makes it out of training camp and plays in a real game, he will suffer a horrible injury. 5. Adding to #4, he will suck. 6. If they sign him and release Glennon, the organization will lose credibility among agents / free agents in all likelihood.

However, if they hired him as a qb consultant... there's no rule against him throwing the ball from time to time in offseason practices. Rosen could learn a thing or two from someone like Warner. But I don't think it will happen, at least this season.
