As 2nd team DL both Gunter and Olsen Pierre did well against the Chargers. These 2 make a solid rotation with Nkemdiche and Peters. Gunter won't get the sacks like Pierre but he's a run stuffer. And this year is the 1st year he can play his original college and drafted position, DT. I'm not concerned about Gunter at all.
But who will be that 5th DT for the team? And how many DEs and DTs will this Team keep for this new 4-3 D? Lots of shaking and baking yet to do for this team's D-line even After Golden comes back.

Top three ? Don't know about that. But if Niche and Pierre can get a consistent push from the tackle spots on passing plays this team could have a stout D. It's all about getting pressure on the QB, and not giving him time to go through his progressions.

It does appear the Cards are going to use more running attack and ball control on offense so the # of snaps by other team vs. our defense should go down appreciably. I do think the defense can be top 5 and believe the new defense alignment should help Nkemdiche. The defense has 2 top 25 players in the league in CJ and PP but the defense's ceiling will depend on the development of the young guys - Nkemdiche, Reddick and Budda B along with Jamar Taylor/PP staying healthy as CB quality depth is lacking. I really love the Tre Boston signing so the safety position appears to be strong and Olsen Pierre could be a surprise gem. Also, Buc when healthy has shown himself to be a very good player with big potential and this new defense really should help him to finally emerge.
My concerns on defense are how quickly Golden is going to be ready to be a relentless defensive force and I am probably the only one stating this but am concerned that CJ is playing (on purpose) at 20 lbs heavier than last year. CJ led the league in sacks and he puts on 20 lbs which should help in the run game but will it affect his ability to get the edge on left tackles ? ... just something I am watching.

Hard to know. Last year we faced very few elite QB's. It looks like, pending injury, this year the 16 games has a lot more competent to very good to outright elite QB's on the schedule. Were also installing a new D. It may take some time to get up to speed. On the plus side it looks like we are a lot better at the No. 2 CB spot.

Too high. We have really good individual players on D like PP and Chandler. But as a whole, I cant say its a overly talented unit. The DL especially is lacking.
And more importantly, the Rams are 7? They have a pro bowler at almost every position. They of course will be very good. Makes me question the validity of the list.
DL: Suh, Donald, Brockers
LB: Barron
DB: Peters, Joyner, Shields, Talib
have a top 5 DC too

I was very disappointed with the soft zone we played in the first ps game. Very little press coverage. The Chargers rolled up a lot of yards. This was not Todd Bowles defense, not at all aggressive.

This is our D now, get used to it. Lots of zone. Few blitz. that goes for O too. Forget about exciting BA ball with deep downfield passing. This O will be slow and grinding. Lots of runs. Lots of short passes. But hopefully the tradeoff for boring football is wins |

The Cardinals defense is pretty good on the new Madden lol.. The front line is strong hows the offense? Horrible.. The o-line is awful ( like in real life ) I get sacked like at least 5-6 times a game. Last night I threw like 3 picks with Bradford. DJ is good though. So is the defensive line. |

Starting OL looked good preseason game 1. They werent in long, but they helped David rip off 2 14 yard up-the-guts. Thats impressive. Bradford didnt die in his 5 minutes playing, so thats also significant. |

I saw the game...was just curious about careds ol in the madden game...2 pass attempts and 2 good running plays does not instill my confidence in ol starters..obviously the 2nd unit played poorly as I expected |
