The most important player on this team moving forward deserves his own thread.
Statistically, he finished the evening completing only 6-of-13 pass attempts for 41 yards, good for a passer rating of only 53.7.
He really only made one bad throw. It should have been picked off and returned for a touchdown. He had a pass dropped by J.J. Nelson, a beautiful throw down the field that Christian Kirk could not locate and a perfect throw to Greg Little, who caught the ball but was unable to get both feet down in the field of play.
What I was looking for he delivered. He has poise in the pocket. He does not have happy feet. In other words he is everything Blaine Gabbert is not. I was critisized on this forum when Gabbert's debut produced a win and some phony stat lines. He looked like garbage and was proven to be.
I've never seen a center snap the ball low so many times. Did they pull this guy off the street or did he have a broken arm? Cut that mother tomorrow.
Rosen looked like he can process information fast. He made an over the shoulder throw to Little (?) that only good QB's can pull off. His footwork is very impressive. He stands tall in the pocket. Moves around nicely. Looks to pass not run for his life. Can take a hit when need be without making a throw.
He made on bonehead throw. That's okay. Palmer made 2 or 3 every game.
Overall it's a limited body of work and with little help hard to evaluate but I"m very impressed with what I saw. Did not look like a rookie.

The stats would have looked very different if he had been in their with Fitz, DJ and most importantly the first team Oline. Cole looked good, which is important for us. Our depth on Oline looks like trash, especially that center. Never seen such poor snapping and blocking in the middle. Steve’s first action back needs to be a fire, then hire a vet center to at least back up Cole.

Rosen looked good. Kept his eyes down field and released the ball quickly. I was impressed with his ability to pickup the ball as it rolled along the ground, and still keep his composure. It was unbelievable how bad the 2’s looked on the OL. All in all, he’s a keeper for sure. Hopefully he will get some time with the ones next game. Definitely optimistic, and glad he’s here. Only thing that I saw that bothered me, he seemed to be pouting on the sidelines after the first couple series. Then I saw Bradford come along side and his demeanor seemed to change. I think he realized that he needed to accept his role, and make the best out of a bad situation.
I’m glad you started the thread, thanks

To be somewhat fair, Rosen was with the 2nd string OL and receivers while the Chargers kept their first string D in for a few more series. Ones against Twos isn't exactly a fair comparison but it did expose some weaknesses rather quickly.

My impression of last night is he looked like trash and it was completely the fault of the coaching staff. They never gave him a chance to succeed and he didn't succeed. Were very lucky he wasn't badly hurt. Wilks and McCoy better figure this out. It was embarrassing for the staff and were very lucky Rosen was badly hurt. There really wasn't anything to evaluate one way or another.

Everyone needs to watch this a few times. SIX low snaps and he actually fields each ground ball cleanly and makes decent passes on five of six. Pressure immediately on almost every snap yet keeps good footwork and eyes on receivers each time, and makes good throws. Drops by receivers and Little not getting a foot down, Kirk not turning his head early enough to locate the pass. He made a great throw with M Ingram flying into his face on his first throw, and had a completion to Foster with guys hanging on his legs. He did all he could have given the snaps, pressure, and poor WR play. Coaches won’t be yelling at Rosen Monday morning.

In fact he looked pretty darn good considering the TRASH that was playing with him. Like I said in my original post: Poise, footwork, processing information, pocket movement, throws were all pretty well spot on. Can you imagine ANY NFL QB grabbing the ball off the ground on virtually every snap?

he did make a huge mistake trying to not take a sack, when you are throwing the ball away throw it out of bounds not up the middle. better to lose a few yards if you get flagged than 6 points on the play. I had plummer flashbacks.

I don't blame that on Rosen but the fact that he picked the ball up and made some close throws means something in horseshoes not NFL football. Until he runs an O that can look competent, get first downs, move the ball and create a few chunk plays and get into the end zone, I can't say anything positive. Granted the coaching staff put him in position to fail and he did. Just because I can't imagine other NFL QB's doing it doesn't mean coming close to doing it means Rosen did well. That was at best a fire drill and just because there was a concrete slab left after the house burned down didn't mean he put the fire out.

But what exactly are we looking for in a young or actually any QB? Blaine Gabbert won his in his debut game. His stat line looked pretty good. But he looked like garbage. He has happy feet and didnt show any ability to process information. Lots of safe little passes to pad the stats. I knew moving forward we had nothing and said so at the time. Many posters said it was B.S. The things I saw impressed me. You cant fake poise. He stood tall, moved in the pocket well. Made some really nice throws. You cant say anything "positive" considering the circumstances he was put in is just unfair. But then again you're the same guy who claims the Cardinals didnt win the Chandler Jones trade.

You do know that Tom Brady is the QB of the Pats and without CJ they won a SB and went to a SB. They got a starting OL man that protected Brady. They had a different need than we did. We have not made the playoffs since CJ was signed. Winning a trade? You win in this league with a deep roster, great skill players and a great coaching staff. FYI while we got CJ, we also managed to get Palmer carted off the field. What do you want me to say. Rosen showed poise but our new coaching staff put him in position to fail. It's a team game. I don't blame Rosen for last night. I'm glad he survived. I learned nothing about him one way or anther because the coaching staff put him in a position to fail. Stop with the moral victories. I'm concerned about our coaching staff wrecking the kid.

I'm concerned about our coaching staff wrecking the kid. Newsflash: I can play on NE's Oline and they would probably have won the superbowl. CJ also "won " a super bowl with tom brady. And never forget BB. It's no fault of Chandler Jones that we did not win a super bowl since his trade here. He has been everything as advertised and then some. Other parts of the team were dismal failures due to poor drafting mostly and injuries. How you make these equivalencies is simply mind boggling. We throttled NE in that trade. We got what most teams crave and is very difficult to obtain: a pass rusher who stays healthy.
