Who does not love those iconic Cardinals uniforms from the 80s? RIP Mr. Nunn!

Another Cardinal good running back before he got injured. Johnny Roland. Thanks for posting this. He is one of those guys I almost forgot about. I wanted to refresh my memory and found all kinds of things I just did not know or forgot. There is too many to mention here but here is just a few. Taken from his page.... Wikipedia page"Roland played in 103 NFL games, during which he rushed for 3,750 yards and 28 touchdowns on 1,015 attempts, caught 153 passes for 1,430 yards and six touchdowns, returned 49 punts for 452 yards with two touchdowns, returned 22 kickoffs for 444 yards, and completed five of 13 passes for 130 yards and one touchdown." lol, he was more multi-talented than I remembered. He also became a coach....from this link Big Red Legends: Johnny Roland"Roland is the only person to coach the NFL’s two all-time leading rushers in Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton."Also, a curious thing I did not know...or just didn't remember... "BIG RED OR JETS?
The St. Louis Football Cardinals drafted Johnny Roland as a “future” in the fourth round of the 1965 NFL draft, just three rounds after selecting Joe Namath with their top pick. Coincidentally, the New York Jets also drafted Roland and were prepared to do whatever it took to get him."

What if Namath had teamed up with Roland to play along side that stout Cardinal defense in the mid-sixties...oh what could have been.

The best defensive back in the early 60's before Larry Wilson was Jimmy Hill. Colorful player that had an infamous accident with Bart Starr.

The best defensive back in the early 60's before Larry Wilson was Jimmy Hill. Colorful player that had an infamous accident with Bart Starr. I got to admit, you stumped me on this one. I don't remember him at all, so I guess he was before my time. Still, you made me curious, so I looked into it for no other reason than you mentioned an infamous accident with Bart Starr. I do remember him. I had to know what that was about. I found an article... this one
I suspect you have seen this too. If you scroll down, it gives an explanation of the incident and the aftermath as well as a video of it.
