Just to put things on an even keel, theres few teams who have good TE's. Thats just a rare star position in the NFL. Gronk, Kelce, Olsen and ertz are top tier pro-bowl guys. Theres only 4. Then theres guys with talent: Jordan Reed, Rudolph, Graham who could be top tier, but cant stay healthy. (Gronk could be in this category for health too) Then theres another big drop off to young guys with talent, but havent proven it: OJ Howard, Engram, Njoku then theres everyone else. Role players. Busts. Etc. So on the whole, theres ~4 elite TEs in the NFL and then ~ 3 Good TEs. Then everybody else sucks. So dont feel bad that AZ doesnt have TEs. Nobody else does either. I think Seals has the potential to be a 2nd tier guy, which would be huge. It's not an even keel. The mid point in TE catches was Brate for Tampa Bay with 48 receptions for 598 yards. Gresham had 33 for 322 yards. That's significant. Seals needs to step up big. There's a difference between elite and none existent. You are right to say "It's not an even keel". But to then say, "Gresham had 33 for 322 yds. That's significant." is not as relevant to your argument because of BA's system. If Gresham had been in Tampa bay or a similar offense then it might have true bearing. New system, and we shall see if Seals, Gresham (when back on the field), and the other TEs on the Team start to meet your criteria.

BA liked taking shots but the idea that he wasn't willing to bend to his personal is simply wrong. He did adjust. The reality is BA hasn't had a decent TE since Heath Miller when he was the OC in Pittsburgh. The question is can Seals Jones step up? I think that's a fair point.

We don't have just a bad WR group we have a below average TE group. A really good TE has to be accounted for by the same guys on D that have to account for DJ. We don't have either a really good TE group or WR group. DJ doesn't offset both. He is taking catches that might well be going to a prototype NFL TE. He's a great weapon but with an aging LF we desperately need another TE/WR to step up that D's have to account for in the passing game. DJ helps our passing game but our passing game as a group is below average until someone else proves otherwise. Just to put things on an even keel, theres few teams who have good TE's. If that’s not proving it, at least for a rookie, then I don’t know what is. Don’t let NYG’s poor record cloud your judgement otherwise.

NE cut Troy Niklas very early in the process. BB took one look and said no thanks.
We've never had a even "very good" TE. Remember the Housler era? The Pope era? Other then that just a bunch of guys off the street.
It's a big weapon in the NFL. And with our bad group of receivers not having a good TE really hurts. Thankfully DJ relieves a bit of that.

Ertz is listed as one of the elite, read again Engram looked good. It is 1 year so I dont consider that proven. And consider OBJ was out last year, so hes a massive handcuff. Can Engram get that many touches again with OBJ getting the lions share? We'll see. If he has another 700+ season, ill put him in the same category as Walker.

To say 1 good year doesnt make you Gronk isnt a criticism, its just a fact. Id happily put him in that top tier if he can replicate it. Thats not a big ask.

I had no problem drafting RS-J as a later-round fantasy TE. So what if the guy next to me snickered beer out of his nose, RS-J has the same upside as the other guys left on the board (Perhaps Austin Seferian-Jenkins may have been a better choice in the hyphenated-name TE category, but home team pride won out).

Tell you the best TE in the NFL is actually Greg olsen. i take that dude 2nd round every year and im made fun of for it. And then I win my league because Greg is more dependable than almost any WR in the NFL. Man has never let me down

It's a weak room and may cause issues when teams load the box. Week 2 will tell the story as I think the Redskins are garbage and should be an easy win.
