thomas cat Out of curiosity, is there such a thing as a copy number on each vinyl record that determines whether it was the first copy or twenty first copy ?
We now need to decide where thomas cat will wine and dine us when he sells his pristine copy of the The White Album
First, I'm sure my album is not worth anything close to Ringo's album. That album has worth because Ringo owned it and ( and this is something I didn't know about ) the first pressing. Keep in mind this was in black vinyl and apparently in mono vs stereo. This was made before I was employed at Capitol records. The white vinyl didn't happen until the 10th anniversary of the original release.
Again, I'm not sure how many were made with white vinyl, but it was far fewer than black vinyl.
I have looked around as to what my mint condition White album might be worth. The prices is all over the place.. Anywhere from maybe 30$ to over 2,000$. Its not all about condition, but many other factors that I don't understand. Things like what country manufactured it, the label on the center of the record....and apparently if it was an early pressing.
As far as that goes....numbering the order it was pressed. That was never done where I worked ( at least as far as I remember ). If that happened, and I guess it did. It only happened at the very beginning. Numbering each album would have taken a lot of extra work especially when you consider all the manufacturing plants worldwide.
For me, all that doesn't matter. I know I have at least got something that is somewhat rare of my all time favorite band.....its not for sale....lol
