thomas cat Thank you for your post and the links for Scandal. How did you hear about this band ? I just turned 60 on Sunday and I am originally from Coventry, England. My musical claim to fame is that I went to school and played football (soccer) at age 10 with Terry Hall the lead singer of The Specials. Their song "Ghost Town" was about Coventry and the hard economic and other problems there the early 80's. Haha...cool!! my one claim to music fame is i started a Riot at a Mel Tillis concert because he wouldn't sign my buddys baseball mitt...lol...which he finally did....but we still went to the can

Hats off to Mel Tillis... for rising above your indiscretions. I have no idea if anyone liked my Scandal links, but even if one did....this is for them and worth my time. For all others just ignore... Scandal has been around for about 13 years. I only found out about them about 6 months ago. Since then I watched and listen to them more than any other group. They put a smile on my face and bring me back to good old rock and roll. It's kind of sad for the USA, I had to go to Japan and not only that, but an all-female group to get that. Here are some links that you may or may not want to click on. They were not much more than teenagers here... Early ScandalEdit: I thought would provide a better link than the one above that I just came across. It has that song plus 16 other songs from the same concert on 3 pages... They are more talented now, but they sure knew how to put on a show back then. linkAnd their singing and musicianship kept getting better... a few years later
If rock and roll is not your thing....check this out...they can bring tears to your eyes... new linkAnd yes the drummer can sing too...steps away from her drums and plays guitarAnd a very emotional song... sung by MamiForgive me if it seems I'm promoting this band...I guess I am, but it's only because they have brought me so much enjoyment to me, I hope there may be a person or two that find them as enjoyable as I do. linklink

This has been a bad day. We lost to the Dolphins....dang it. So I thought I would put something here that may brighten your day. As you can see from this thread, I have become a big Scandal fan from Japan. From that I have also got to know many bands from Japan. Some I like, others not so much. Still its clear to me, they put out some really good music us Americans never get exposed to and have no idea. Maybe no one will like this....but the song, the singing, the choreography, makes it worth the watch. Most of my life, I worked for Capital Records...believe me, this is good stuff....even if you don't like it... linkEdit: I just thought I would add a couple of more links of the band above. They are such an unusual band, and granted, probably not everyone's cup of tea. Still they are like no one else. I have only come across them recently but I am impressed. They rile up the crowd like few others. Pa Pa Ya
A couple years ago at a Metal festival
Edit: I came across a fan made video of this group that goes back 10 years to present. I had no idea they have been around that long. Apparently they have been drawing huge crowds almost from the beginning. Love them or dislike them, they are a high energy group that put on a hell of a show. 10 years of various concerts wrapped into one.I know, I'm a old dude and and I shouldn't even like this kind of stuff, but when it comes to music, I'm still a teenager. Its not just the music, its the visual performance that puts it over the top for me. Just a few more links for whoever who might still be coming here... Mostly fan made compilations from various concerts over the years.... linklinklink link
Just one more link. I get it, this group is not for everyone...still for those who can get rid of preconceived expectations of what a rock show should be... just enjoy it....it's all about fun. Clearly the thousands of people at this concert had the time of their life. This was almost ten years ago, and while they are all adults now, they were just teenagers here and had no fear and put on a hell of a show without any pyrotechnics or special effects of any kind. Just them, the band, and their enthusiasm to put on a show.... link
Recent concerts. A new song and their very first song... newoldThese two links are shot from a concert just a month ago. A little different from what they usually do, but still part of a well-done show. linklink
Their latest video/song... link

Yesterday, everyone knew The Beatles. Today, only Jack remembers their songs. The move comes out on 28th June and the director of the movie is Danny Boyle who made Slumdog Millionaire. twitter.com/yesterdaymovie I finally got to see this movie. I waited till it was shown on one of my cable channels. I know, its been a long time since you suggested it, but I finally got to watch it. I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it would be mainly a comedy, but it was much more than that. It even brought a tear to my eye. I'm not saying its a top ten movie, but it was worth the watch. If you are a Beatle fan as I am, this is a must see.....so many great songs....so many great memory's...and it did justice for all of them. The whole concept was a little weird, but they made it work....and from what I understand....all....Paul....Ringo and others approved. Taken from this web page link"Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy Shevell sneaked into a cinema in The Hamptons to see the film and "loved it".[48] Boyle also sent copies of the completed film to Ringo Starr and his wife Barbara, as well as George Harrison's widow Olivia, and received "lovely messages" from both parties.[49] John Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, also approved of the film's depiction of her husband.[50]"I will say, to truly enjoy this movie, you not only need to be Beatle fan, but know all of their songs....their are so many songs. Even if you are not aware of the Beatles genus, this movie may give you reason to check them out. Just going to post two songs that was referenced in the movie...neither is my favorite, but it shows their outstanding song writing ability. Eleanor RigbyThis was the perfect ending to the movie.... Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da

I always liked the Beatles, even after they split up. Those 4 guys were incredibly talented as a band or soloists. Solo performances later proved they could stand on their own and still draw 50,000 folks at a concert. I never got to see them at a alive performance though. I was so inspired by the Beatles across the years that at 65yo, I bought a Gibson Les Paul and learned how to read music and play on my own. I'm about to switch over to a Fender Strat and try imitating Jimi next. No drugs though. I can also play left handed if necessary.

So are you going to try this.....lol... Playing with his teeth... "No drugs though"...
Its so sad. So many really talented people back then lost their lives to drugs and alcohol.. Granted, I'm a little prejudiced here since these were my very formative years as a teenager, but I think the mid to late sixties was prime time for music. While many great songs and groups have followed, those days were the best of times.

The final film release by next summer will be enjoyable to listen to and watch. Hardly seen in the Youtube cut was none other than Mr. Billy Preston tickling the organ keyboard. He helped the four megastars again merge their creativity long enough to write and record Get Back, Let it Be, Hey Jude, and other late 60s/early 70s songs. PutMeIn

Just judging from that link it could be similar to the Let it be Movie from 1970. That one ends with the rooftop concert that you mention. Just an interesting tidbit. As I have mentioned before, I worked at a Capitol Records manufacturing plant for most of my life. Early on, I became a proud owner of The Beatles White Album pressed with virgin white vinyl. It was a limited edition and at my plant at least, we only did one run in the white vinyl. I'm not sure how many were made, but it was only in the thousands, not millions. The thing is, I have never opened it and its still in its original cellophane. I'm not sure what its worth. The White Album pressed with white vinyl is not super rare, after all thousands were made, but having one that's in pristine condition and never opened surly is.
