Hey guys, we sort of got side tracked on the NFL Draft thread talking about cars. But you both got my attention talking about Mustangs and Corvettes. My first car was a 1959 Corvette. That was my favorite car of all time. When I bought it, the car was factory stock. I street modified it and it was sweet. Pretty fast car too. I remember the day I beat a factory Shelby. I think it had the 428 Cobra Jet Engine, but not absolutely sure. The two guys in the car could not believe I beat them. It was close. I beat them by one fourth of a car length. I think what shocked them the most was that, my car looked stock and original from the outside. But it was not that. A friend of mine who was totally into Corvettes, taught me everything I know about late fifties and early sixties Corvettes. I really regret selling the car. So I am posting some pics of some of the cars I have owned. Looks like I will have to break this up into a couple of threads since the limit is 3 files per post. I will try to post them in order.
1959 Corvette 1969 Camaro(My son talked me out of this car) 1996 Camaro I don't own any more cars like that. But it sure was fun when I did. If you guys have pics of any of your cars, post them here. I really would like to see the Mustangs or Corvette.

Sweet! I rode a Honda Gold Wing for two years. Rode it 80 miles a day for those two years. I love motorcycles. Rode a Triumph and Harley Bob too. Suicide clutch on the Harley.

i remember when i was buying my first car- in 1980 i wanted the 68 road runner owned by the father of a cute redheaded gal-he was willing to sell it to me for 400 BUCKS!! my parents freaked out-to them the roadrunner meant speeding tickets and illegal street racing...so sad to say my first car was a vega. a few years later i bought a 67 olds cutlass convertible-the car i learned how to fix cars on. a few years later i traded it for a bandit ta-nice looking but a dog speedwise. next came a 305 86 camaro-the 305 lasted 1 year and in went a 350. when gm put out the 87 camaro convertible i decided i had to have one, but couldnt afford one so out came the trusty sawsall and i made my 86 into a convertible. afew years later i had to sell it to get an engine for my wifes car and the i lucked into a 92 z-28 25th anniversary heritage edition convertible with a 350 tuned port-another mustang hunter!! once i retired i went looking for a car-didnt like the newest camaros, wudda bought a hellcat IF they could be bought as converetibles, ended up with the vette below-2007, 8303 miles, one owner, kept in a heated and cooled garage. its very unlike the older vettes which could beat you to death. this one is very smooth and docile until about 85, then its fun to drive. its gets amazing gas mileage as long as i keep my foot out of it, but you know how that goes...

It's funny you said that. I have to agree with you on that. The Triumph has that sound of pure "GUTS". I used to love riding that bike.

One of my friends use to have a Road Runner. I can't remember what year exactly it was. Could have been a 69. It was the box looking one. Then one of my other friends use to have a 73 Super Bee. I think he had the 383 with the six pack. Those were pretty heavy cars and I could usually beat them. The Mopar/Dodge type of car I had a rough time against was that dang 340 Cuda. It was a light car and that engine from the factory was really fast.
The Red Camaro above had the 350 TPI engine. Completely stock, but it was pretty fast. One of my favorite cars that I ever owned was a 70 Camaro. I bought it off of a used car lot. I owned the car for about 15 years. It was one of the most reliable cars I have ever owned.

It's funny you said that. I have to agree with you on that. The Triumph has that sound of pure "GUTS". I used to love riding that bike. All of mine were made in Hinkley England. My gas tank was hand painted & the motors were individually hand built (excellent quality control) & this was in 90’s & early 2000’s.

Hey, the Camaro and Vette almost look like brothers.
I had to take a double take at the pics, then I realized the bottom pic was a Vette. Nice cars.

Love the Corvettes of the 50's. My neighbor had one. Gorgeous car. My mom had a 69 GTO, pretty much identical to the 69 Camaro with a little beefier suspension and engine. I own a 2011 911 GTS cabriolet. Love the car but I still have a soft spot in my heart for that late 50's Corvette. My other favorite car was the Jag cabriolet. It looked like a bullet. My favorite scene in Madmen is when the British business manager tries to commit suicide by pumping carbon monoxide from his brand new Jag and couldn't get the car to start.

My best friend in High School had a 66 Goat. OMG, did we ever put work into that car. It started off with the factory 389 but eventually we put a 455 H.O. engine from a wrecked Trans Am. So much torque from that Big Block. I have thought of looking for one, but they are so expensive nowadays. I remember the "JUDGE", it came in Bright Orange and Forest Green. That was a pretty cool car. It was a fast car. My choice for my first car was between the 59 Corvette I bought and a 67 Goat. Believe it or not, the Corvette was less expensive than the Goat, so I went with the Vette.
911 and Jag? Looks like you favor top end speed in your cars. Not sure about the 911, but I bet that Jag was one smooth ride at high speeds.

My 911 isn't a turbo. It's fast but the beauty of it is the balance and handling. The newer ones are getting bigger and are more a touring car than a true sports car. They're really fast but I don't really think they're better. I'm not crazy about the new Porsche's. I never drove the old jags I just loved the look of the XKE. It was just a unique and beautiful car. The Goat was an absolute beast. I wrecked it running a red light. It took my mother years to get over that. I had a friend who owned a 69GTO original and still has it. Sadly if you're really into speed, electric is going to blow all of these cars away. I was recently punked by a Tesla on the 101. It was embarrassing. I really love the overall look and feel of the fifties Corvette. The seats, the dash, the entire feel of the car was timeless. I think it's the best US true sports car ever made in terms of design in and out. I would love to own one.
