Good to hear from you again Funkytown. Yes, the ARI Forum site needs pro IT help. My last outreach went nowhere. So, are you volunteering Reignman's expert assistance to freshen the Forum? If yes, please advise the plan here. I'll get a thumbs up from the mods this week to move forward with granting permissions. Thx, P I've had convos with Reignman lately, and while he has some issues to deal with he's willing to install a more fitting banner and a couple of other minor things, but only on an occasional as-needed-do-a-favor basis. All it takes is direct contact with him via PM, not through Funkytown. Both are friends but Funky has her Vikings board to run and Reignman works with her technically, he is a volunteer there, too. Ergo, contact Reignman. Let's DO something besides talk, finally. Patience has done nothing but waste time. IF this board is to truly be ranked #1 it should be exemplary in all respects, the first of which is appealing appearance to anyone viewing online for the first time or repeatedly. I am looking for a up to date helmet for the banner and I will have to pay to upload the new fonts as well for the new tool I am using. FOUR YEARS of offering, but always issues, job first, and excuses - yet you accept it all again? What has been
accomplished to date has been 90% due to Reignman's work, assistance and instructions. Why assume that things will be different now than already shown? FOUR YEARS equals failure, and should never be accepted as being
adequate in any sense of the word, regardless of who or why.
Maintaining any online forum doesn't take that much time or work, but it does take ability and commitment, not just desire to be "the guy". Simply don't volunteer at all if you are overburdened, and let someone else have a shot. It has been good being able to exchange thoughts with everyone, but there is no evident overall desire or intent
among you forum admins to grow the forum through better presentation and general improvement.
For me, that is something irritating enough to leave the forum, but seemingly most just don't care. I am one very small voice in the wilderness saying that the top banner reeks of ugliness and sloppy design. Nobody else among
you mods sees what any first time visitor sees when the site is opened.... apparently.
If this post has been too pointed or critical, tough tacos. If it causes suspension or cancellation, that's fine too.
All the above is fact and my opinion, offered with no apology.

I have already contributed in working with Funkytown and Reignman, and steering him to you back in 2019. He (mostly) and I came up with the designs for a new heading banner (on page 26 or 27?), and other little things. Reignman and I do well together and speak the same language, as it were, making collaboration both fun and easy.
You sidelined those banner designs because you "had some other ideas" (in so many words) but your ideas never appeared - then or since. Reignman dropped out because of no contact from you afterward, and the original crude banner continued from then to now.
My reason for not volunteering for the tech work is old age (92) and having lost my HTML coding ability over time, plus battling physical problems which had me hospitalized and in rehab. Now I have more physical problems to deal with. Your excuses pale in comparison, amigo, though I do understand how business pressures can be at times.
You have to pay for fonts? Why go to that extreme? There are (or were last time I checked) lots of free fonts available, and with skill normal fonts can be customized. I used to do it with websites I was working on back years ago.
Can't the new helmet be incorporated later as pictures become available? When shown on the forum they will be so small anyway that details won't be that noticeable, so helmets may well be a needless change of artwork.

I was online when Rimrock took the bull by the horns and signed up with Proboards... may he RIP, and know you were one of three to jump in at the outset. For that I have been as patient as I could manage, but geez man, four years?  ?

LOL Brother, Voluteering someone else’s time might be the funniest “contribution” I have heard of. This is not a paid for site and all people that contribute here are volunteers. Please take a step back from the keyboard my man. As was said earlier we have jobs and other things besides just here. Now does anyone have a new helmet that we can use for the banner. Otherwise I’ll just go with the designs I have nd post them for some feedback? |

I like the small feel of this forum and the look of it and how it works; perfect for me. I would help but website programming and similar is not exactly my forte haha.
Fantastic place to talk about our favorite team imo.
If Reignman or whoever else finds time to improve it aesthetically, great. If not, cool.

I use other folks' s/w genius. At the above ProBoards link are 50+ banner and page designs. The designs can be downloaded and changed if your desktop has the right program to play with the s/w. I don't have the programs. IMV, some ProBoards free designs are awful. Some designs may inspire creativity among members. I toss this out there to help the conversation. Thanks.

All the people who are on the forum are great and many are friends. My gripe is appearance and upkeep of the forum, or rather the
lack of it. Imagine you are trying to sell anything online... the first thing needed is to have visual appeal so the surfer does not just
skip by to something else.
My point is the present banner is anything but attention grabbing, and in fact the opposite. It does not affect the content, but a casual visitor will not spend that much time before moving on. Why worry about visitors? Because they can become fellow fans and participants. There is attrition in membership naturally and they should be replaced. Growth of the group is not essential, but it's valuable in the long term.
Coincidentally, in the past I considered suggesting that you might want to move to another team's forum - because the Bidwill name and
family makes you react so often with radically negative opinions and adjectives, it could be better for your health - and because many of us are tired of reading the same vitreol again and again. But I thought better of it since we all are entitled to opinions. Think about that.
Understand this: I am not displeased with the forum or members - quite the opposite. My only gripe is the upkeep and presentation, and
that involves you because you took on the job of managing and maintaining it. You have ignored it for the previously noted four years, thus should answer for that neglect. We all have responsibilities in life: work, family, community and things like this forum. BUT those first three cannot be permanent excuses for not making some time to do what you volunteered to do - or accepting help to do it.

Looking back to when this thread was created. Looks like a lot of members that gave their 2 cents in the beginning don't say to much anymore or not around/disappeared or just post when the season starts. Looks like it could be those who put a lot of time in this forum may feel slighted in someway? Looks like a few members who were somewhat friends are now foe. As this thread grows, it has turned into a players locker room during a losing season. Yeah, I've been guilty as charged myself as well on threads.

Sadly one must have admin status to see those designs...
