I live back East…I’ve seen a lot of Daniel Jones and the Giants games. He’s made his share of mistakes…no doubt…but the guy can play…in the right situation…I think he can resurrect his career. Giants did him no favors with poor OL picks and development…no WR talent…and letting Barkley walk. I would not be surprised…once he clears waivers on Monday due to his contract…that someone like the 49ers, the Rams or even the Vikings take a flyer on him…and under the right tutelage of any of those coaches…he just may develop and refine his skills to earn another shot at starting somewhere else in the NFL…just like Darnold and Mayfield did after their stints with the 49ers and Rams respectively…mark my word…best thing for him was getting out of NY…now he just needs to pick the right spot to go to…to clear his head and get the proper coaching.

He is a QB who earned $110 million and accomplished little. Someone will try and take advantage of that investment. It will be interesting on what happens.

WF today listed the AZ Cardinals as one of those teams who should sign Daniel Jones -- Daniel Jones New Team Possibilities
I would not be surprised if the 49ers sign him now that Purdy has some arm problems again -- I would not like this.

(My post on a different thread from 11/22/2024) www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/42529597/giants-qb-daniel-jones-regretful-losses-processing-futurewww.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/29041/daniel-jonesA bunch of fans, GMs, and owners are watching this QB drama play out in NY mid-season 2024. The Giants are losing and losing. The team is in deep trouble with the roster and payroll. QB Jones was demoted this past week. He's done playing football in NY and preparing for what comes next. Who wants a 27yo, 6'5", and experienced NFL QB? He will be free to play wherever he wants by Feb/Mar 2025. His W/L record as the Giants starter is awful. However, after digging into the man's statistics since he was drafted in 2019, his data is okay. I mean, he can play pro football. Dan Jones needs a new home, team, and QB coach who believes in the man and can tap into his best football talents. Jones can carry a team if he has good players on the OL and decent WRs and RBs. When the NYG cut RB Barkley, that move removed half of Jones' offensive toolbox. The team's locker room also did not recover after that terrible move. Thus, if the Cardinals are in need of an experienced b/u QB during the next off-season, and a bidding war for Dan Jones does not happen, does the Cardinals signing Jones to a minimum veteran's salary make sense? Jones is subject to the Waiver process. The worst team prior to the start of the 2024 season gets the first shot at Jones. The Cardinals were a 4-win team last year.Jones says goodbye to the NYG in the video at the top link. Jones current contract information is at the bottom link. EZ

If SF signs Jones, that means 30 other teams said "No Thanks." I don't see 30 other teams having no interest in a 6'5" QB with 5.5 years experience. NY is a tough town to play FB. Jones will do okay somewhere else.

His contract will cause him to clear waivers. Once that happens Monday…he is a Free Agent…free to sign WHERE HE WANTS…and WHO WANTS HIM. My guess…in no particular order if I were him: 1) 49ers 2) Rams 3) Vikings All have GREAT QB guru type coaches…no pressure entry this year…the ability to get in…clear his head…learn…with no expectations…and compete to earn viable NFL playing time either there or somewhere else once he puts it on tape like Darnold and Mayfield did in the past. It’s not necessarily a situation where 30 teams pass on him…they will initially with the waiver wire…after that it’s his choice based on who ever is interested.

Ha, you are correct about my error in the post way above this one. Vet minimun does not apply to a player with a contract who is cut. Jone's current contract is a big pill to swallow for any new team. The Cardinals have enough CAP to afford him now, and later as a FA. But that would eliminate options in the next offseason.

That’s why I list the 49ers, Rams and Vikings as his place of choice to sign for the rest of this year. He’s not ready to take on the baggage at those other organizations and…IMO…it could ruin him further.

If he wants a shot at playing in the playoffs this season our Cardinals might be his best shot.

Like I said in another thread…he almost single handily beat the Cardinals in the 2nd half of the Giant vs Cardinal game last year…So I’m sure Shanahan and McVay look at him as an asset in trying to capture the division this year…and…perhaps be a cheaper replacement for their immediate future plans.

EZ Waiver order is now through current standings, not going off last year any longer. Draft order only goes into 3 weeks of the season, then it adjusts to current records. Nobody is picking up that salary, he will be a free agent. I think it makes more sense for him to join a contender that does not have a solid back up or injury prone starter. Why join another dumpster fire organization. He can join a good team and get some good coaching and then analyze next season when this one is over.
