I’ve read three articles today suggesting Cardinals sign Jones as we prepare for a playoff run. How would you guys feel if we went into these last 7 games and potentially the playoffs with Tune as our backup?

Monti, JG and others will have input and decide as they always do.
So far, Tune has evidently done enough for those in management to justify keeping him as backup to #1, despite what we fans may think or desire.
Jones *might* be a better backup, but at significantly higher cost and likely not long term. Time will tell, and it will be interesting to see where he goes and where he may stay.
There could be possible issues between Murray and Jones if both thought they deserve being top dog... but that is pure conjecture.
IMHO

Do not need another Ryan Lindley situation.

How would you guys feel if we went into these last 7 games and potentially the playoffs with Tune as our backup? It's hard to know how to feel without having watched him play in a real game IMO. The thing is he IS inexperienced for the same reason. With 7 games left it'd be hard to feel warm and fuzzy about the situation! Everybody in the world can scream at the top of their lungs for DJ to come here, but is that even something he'd want to do? Even if he DID come here for the last 7 games (and possibly more) he'd have no way of knowing if he'd get a chance to play and it seems like another team could benefit from having him as their starter. He wouldn't pass that up to come here.

Jones will not pick here as his next move…bank on it…and it has nothing to do with the Cardinals…I just don’t want to see another West Team benefit from him picking them as his next landing spot.

I suspect he would be better insurance to keep us going if Kyler got hurt, but my money says he'd go to another team with at least a questionable QB situation if not one that outright needs a QB. The Raiders immediately comes to mind.

It’s an interesting point to consider. Assume a team gets a 3rd round compensatory pick…what is the dollar value of a late 3rd rounder to a team? Then decide what you are willing to offer Jones for 6 remaining games as a starter (or backup) PLUS that comp pick (which is not guaranteed).

(My post on a different thread from 11/22/2024) www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/42529597/giants-qb-daniel-jones-regretful-losses-processing-futurewww.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/29041/daniel-jonesA bunch of fans, GMs, and owners are watching this QB drama play out in NY mid-season 2024. The Giants are losing and losing. The team is in deep trouble with the roster and payroll. QB Jones was demoted this past week. He's done playing football in NY and preparing for what comes next. Who wants a 27yo, 6'5", and experienced NFL QB? He will be free to play wherever he wants by Feb/Mar 2025. His W/L record as the Giants starter is awful. However, after digging into the man's statistics since he was drafted in 2019, his data is okay. I mean, he can play pro football. Dan Jones needs a new home, team, and QB coach who believes in the man and can tap into his best football talents. Jones can carry a team if he has good players on the OL and decent WRs and RBs. When the NYG cut RB Barkley, that move removed half of Jones' offensive toolbox. The team's locker room also did not recover after that terrible move. Thus, if the Cardinals are in need of an experienced b/u QB during the next off-season, and a bidding war for Dan Jones does not happen, does the Cardinals signing Jones to a minimum veteran's salary make sense? Jones is subject to the Waiver process. The worst team prior to the start of the 2024 season gets the first shot at Jones. The Cardinals were a 4-win team last year.Jones says goodbye to the NYG in the video at the top link. Jones current contract information is at the bottom link. EZ Waiver order is now through current standings, not going off last year any longer. Draft order only goes into 3 weeks of the season, then it adjusts to current records. Nobody is picking up that salary, he will be a free agent. I think it makes more sense for him to join a contender that does not have a solid back up or injury prone starter. Why join another dumpster fire organization. He can join a good team and get some good coaching and then analyze next season when this one is over. Thanks for the clarification on the Waiver picks going off of record, not draft order, after 3 weeks. I did not know that! EZ

I live back East…I’ve seen a lot of Daniel Jones and the Giants games. He’s made his share of mistakes…no doubt…but the guy can play…in the right situation…I think he can resurrect his career. Giants did him no favors with poor OL picks and development…no WR talent…and letting Barkley walk. I would not be surprised…once he clears waivers on Monday due to his contract…that someone like the 49ers, the Rams or even the Vikings take a flyer on him…and under the right tutelage of any of those coaches…he just may develop and refine his skills to earn another shot at starting somewhere else in the NFL…just like Darnold and Mayfield did after their stints with the 49ers and Rams respectively…mark my word…best thing for him was getting out of NY…now he just needs to pick the right spot to go to…to clear his head and get the proper coaching. I agree. He played in NY and for a reputable organization so the criticism he received was out of proportion to his play. He was not that bad. In the right situation with some protection, he can play well.

Pay this man for the remainder of this season. One year deal for whatever he wants. Bidwill has money just sitting there with cap space, use it on him! To choose Cards there needs to be some incentive.
He can go wherever he wants next year. Heck, maybe they even get a comp pick out of it. Call his agent now!!
Tune cannot take snaps for you, he just cannot. We have to be ale to offer Jones more than anyone else and not some dumpster fire team that will only set him back further.
