QB Daniel Jones and NYGs are parting ways, after being benched for Devito Daniels and NYG reportedly are parting ways mutaul agreement. What say U Card fans? Is Jones a possible back up to K1? I would take that with no problem...that would be a very good choice in my opinion... What are the odds he would want to be a B/U? Isn’t that why he wants to be released.

He may not have a choice whether or not to be a Backup QB, depending on what team will still consider him a starting QB. If there is a team that will offer him a starting QB spot, then he is out of the question...but what if that doesn't happen?

If we signed him, we could garner a comp pic of he gets a middling contract in 2025. He would need to clear waivers due to guarantees though.

By the time he clears waivers we should know if we won and what happened in the Rams and 49ers games, and could be well in the driver’s seat to the playoffs. I’d hate to go into the final weeks and playoffs with Tune as our only insurance.

Jones was the 2nd QB of the board at pick #6 after Kyler went at #1 in the 2019 draft. Now Kyler is the only remaining starting QB from that draft.

It would be nice to have Kyler get a reliable backup in case he goes down but hopefully he will not go down!

Murray was all Shotgun when he was a rookie. Jones (Duke U) was primarily a college pocket passer. Neither the Cardinals or Giants had a 'ready-made' Olines for their new rookie QBs. Both QBs have struggled since being drafted. Since 2023, the Cardinals are working to develop a stronger Oline to support Gannon's running style of offense. We see the positive results in 2024. Murray runs and throws less. The Giants did not help Jones in 2023 and 2024. Purging RB Barkley was a signal that the team was shedding payroll for the future. Jones days were numbered when Barkley was released. Will Jones play again? Yes. Where? That's hard to say. A team has to have about $20M to sign him now, for 7 games. The cost might double or triple ($60M annual?) if he starts now thru 2025--hybrid contract TBD.

That 20 million pill is off the table once no one claims him…which they won’t….he’ll be a free agent trust me…and…to be perfectly honest…he might very well succeed in a 49er or Ram situation this year or in the future…and that’s something to keep an eye on as a Cardinal fan.

I’m sure Shanahan and McVay have taken notice of how well he played against the Cardinals last year in the 2nd half of that Giant win…especially with the division being the only way to the playoffs this year.
