Who doesn't love what Conner brings to the table. He's very hungry for another contract. If I was Monti I would not get emotional like Fans and Steve Keim. Running backs should never take up a lot of cap space. And aging RB's with production are a true unicorn. I maintain I'd stay away from anything but one year deals for him. I agree with the premise and as a unicorn and his value to the team I would not have an issue with a solid 2 year contract for 2025-2026. There are players who earn an exception and he is one IMHO. Well - transition tag locks him in for just a 1 yr deal at $4.5M less than a franchise tag. You have the ability to match any offer. I think the transition tag for RB is around $9.8M .... hoping Trey Benson looks more like his only run last Sunday in future games.

Demercado, now in his 3rd season, is a better replacement for Conner than Rookie Benson. But I would easily sign Conner to a 1 yr Contract w/option for another season. He is a Proen RB and 30 is Not old. Oh yeah and Elliott is back with the Pokes if Y'all haven't noticed.

There is another facet to this conversation that has not been touched on, so I don’t mind being the one to bring it up. JG & Co are in their 2nd year of bringing the entire team, into, and hard selling the “team FIRST!” path to success, which presents an enormous hurdle to simply allowing him to even explore the market. Especially the young players would see it, roll their eyes at the “team first” ideals that have been promoted and say amongst themselves… “Team first. As long as it suits THEM!”

He was Steve Keim's best FA signing non QB related; including D-Hop, hands down imo. Connor will get offers but the Cardinals should not approach this decision until the end of the season. It depends on the years v. guaranteed, Connor and his agent are looking for.
Normally I'd vote no because of age and injury history, but I voted yes because of his performance in the Petzing offense as opposed to his performances in the Kingsbury offense. This is the locker room guy this current Cardinal culture needs.

Maybe they give him a fair offer, but he decides to test the waters. Who is not being “team first”? Should they throw more money than the other 31 teams at one player to keep him as “team first”, and then have less to spend on the rest of the team? Doing what is best for the team, even when it comes to hard cuts, is what I'd consider “team first”.

Pay McBride.

All I’m saying is that if the situation is not handled with tact and fairness, all teammates will know the details and I doubt they’ll see it as “interesting”. I highly doubt they’d favor any “dime a dozen” substitution for James either Jab.

How old was John Riggins when He was selected SB MPV Jan '83? Riggins played 14 seasons. Conner & Riggins are close in weight, height, and running style. I say Stop selling players short when they reach 30. It's a rather Absurd thing to do impo.

To Ossenfort, Connor is a part of a team, not a person, when evaluating tomorrow's team needs. He is a commodity. He is used, then discarded like a race car tire. I am lucky to get 10,000 miles on my wife's Beemer tires. She drives hard and fast. Gannon is riding Connor hard and fast. Benson is his heir-apparent if he can learn to take a brutal hit and move forward. I doubt age is considered for either player. Performance counts, not birthdays.
All players know that an NFL contract is based on future performance, not past performance. Their guaranteed money "pays ahead." GMs accept a lot of risk. As GM, I would not offer a RB guaranteed money. "Dime A Dozen" does not apply to Connor, but he's still a part of a team, not an endowment.
Lastly, I know nothing about the First Team, the Second Team, and so on. I know Starters, et al. Gannon talked earlier this week about the value of guys who are utility players and to contribute wherever a need exists. He spoke specifically about TE Elijah Higgins joining Special Teams occasionally. Higgins said he loved the opportunity. I have never seen Connor on ST. But he's probably taking a necessary break when ST is called onto the field.

Fans love being emotional about the players. It's up to the management to understand statistics on Running backs and not get emotionally tied to a player. High probability of a very fast breakdown.
Running backs should not hold a large portion of your cap space.
One year deal max. Dont like it? Bye.

I agree, one year contract but with incentives and team option to extend or not - rather than a longer lump sum new deal a la Murray. The poll does not indicate what time period would be involved in keeping him, but I suspect most who voted to bring him back would agree with this approach, as he would gain IF he can still produce as before but not be a financial burden if he cannot. BUT - it sure seems like the plan now is to run him hard and long while he is able, then hope that another of our RBs can step in and contribute immediately. I don't see that person at the moment... IMHO

16 yeas 4 nays... Hmmm.... I’d be a yea if I thought he’d do a reasonable one year deal, but I think he will go for one last big contract, that someone will offer one, and I don’t blame him a bit. If he does a team friendly deal, which almost no one ever does, I’ll get his jersey.
